- Sweet-spot year: The 2021 model has the most listings at a current average price of $27,745. The Jeep Wrangler offers a distinctive open-air, adventure-first character that has made it a long-running favorite.
Consider waiting if:
- Powertrain/efficiency: The 2026 Jeep Wrangler has a powertrain for everyone, offering the stalwart Pentastar 3.6-liter V6, a more efficient 2.0-liter four-cylinder turbo, and a powerful 6.4-liter Hemi V8.
- Tech: A 12.3-inch touchscreen is standard, backed by wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto as well as 4G LTE Wi-Fi hotspot capability.
- Safety: Adaptive cruise control and automatic emergency braking become standard on the Sport S trim, while blind-spot monitors, rear cross-traffic alert, rear parking sensors, and high-beam assist become standard at the Rubicon X trim level.
- Starting price: At the time of writing, the base two-door Sport model was priced at $34,227 without options.
If you're buying used today, the 2021 model year offers the best mix of value and availability. If you want the latest tech and features, it may be worth waiting for the next model year's inventory to build up.

Overall, Jeep Wrangler owners across all model years express strong enthusiasm for their vehicles, particularly praising their off-road capabilities, rugged design, and fun driving experiences. Many appreciate the iconic styling and the ability to customize their Wranglers. However, common criticisms include poor fuel economy, limited cargo space, and occasional discomfort during longer drives. While the Wranglers are loved for their adventurous spirit, some owners wish for more modern features and improved reliability in certain models.

As a previous owner of a CJ7, and later a 1999 Wrangler, the 2025 Wrangler is very different. The clutch is feather light compared to any standard transmission I’ve ever driven. I love the ability to integrate my phone etc.. the Alpine stereo sounds good. The removable T top model sounds tight going down the road… Very little noise. The steering is easy yet responsive. The seats are comfortable and fit well even though I’m only 5’2” and my husband 6’1”. I wish the clutch were a bit more firm. But I’m sure I will get used to it and even prefer it overtime.

This jeep is absolutely beautiful I don’t think I would’ve found something as spot on to what vehicle I was looking for in another location. The soft top to the jeep makes it way easier to ride with the top opened up compared to the hard top jeeps which I love. The value of it was absolutely worth it too compared to other jeeps I’ve seen with the same amount of mileage you can’t really find something to beat its value. Overall I will definitely be referring friends and family to search for their cars here when they’re in the market for one.

CarGurus recommends the 2023 Jeep Wrangler
Summary
With 7,590 currently listed for sale and an average price of $35,070, 36.8% of 2023 Jeep Wranglers for sale on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favorably reviewed: Owners rated the 2023 Jeep Wrangler 5 / 5 stars and CarGurus experts gave it a 7.83 / 10.
89.9% of 2023 Wrangler models on CarGurus are accident free.
Why it stands out
The 2023 Jeep Wrangler stands out as one of the few body-on-frame SUVs still built for buyers who care more about off-road ability than creature comforts. Its appeal is rooted in that purpose, and it remains a popular choice for adventure-minded shoppers. The Wrangler also offers multiple powertrain options, giving buyers some flexibility in how they configure it.
That capability comes with tradeoffs. The Wrangler’s limited storage space and unimpressive on-road performance make it less convincing as an everyday road vehicle than it is on rough terrain. Owner feedback echoes that split, with praise for its off-road capability and fun driving experience, alongside complaints about high-speed handling, pricing, and the lack of features like seat warmers.
