| Model Year | Accident-Free % |
|---|---|
| 2026 | 90.9% |

| 2016 | 47.4% |

| 2014 | 52.6% |
Older model years carry meaningfully higher accident rates, so always verify the vehicle history report on pre-2022 models.
Key things to evaluate:
- Fuel efficiency: 31/40/34 for the SEL and Limited and 32/41/36 for the base SE.
- Infotainment: A 10.25-inch touchscreen is now standard on SEL-and-above trims.
- Safety package: The SE and N come standard with forward automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, lane-keep assist, a driver attention monitor, blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, and auto high beams.
Which Hyundai Elantra trim should I buy?
The 2024 Hyundai Elantra offers these trims:
- SE: The entry trim brings the 8-inch touchscreen, the digital instrument panel, and the standard safety suite, making it the value-focused starting point.
- SEL: This trim adds the 10.25-inch touchscreen and is the best-value choice for shoppers who want a stronger tech setup.
- SEL with the Convenience Package: This version adds cyclist detection, front cross-traffic alert, and adaptive cruise control.
- Limited: The Limited adds blind-spot cameras, a Bose stereo, a wireless charging pad, rear emergency braking, a 360-degree camera system, front and rear parking sensors, and Highway Driving Assist.
- N Line: The N Line adds the 1.6-liter turbo-four, the seven-speed dual-clutch automatic, the multi-link rear suspension, and a sportier driving character.
- Hybrid Blue: This hybrid trim adds the 1.6-liter Atkinson-cycle setup and the most efficiency-focused powertrain in the lineup.
- Elantra N: The Elantra N adds the 276-horsepower performance setup, the eight-speed dual-clutch gearbox, and the most aggressive hardware in the range.
What Hyundai Elantra do most buyers choose?
The Hyundai Elantra years with the most listings are 2024, 2025, and 2023.
| Model Year | Total Listings | Good + Great Deals % |
|---|---|---|
| 2024 | 6,308 | 35.2% |
| 2025 | 5,597 | 34.9% |
| 2023 | 4,158 | 35.4% |
| 2026 | 3,615 | 34.6% |
| 2022 | 2,753 | 34.9% |
| 2019 | 2,158 | 28% |
These higher-volume years tend to be popular because they combine broad availability with strong feature content and pricing that still leaves room for value-minded shoppers. When more listings are on the market, you also get more chances to compare trims, colors, and equipment levels.
What is the Hyundai Elantra's resale value?
| Model Year | Current Avg. Price | Year-Over-Year Change |
|---|---|---|
| 2022 | $17,166 | −6.48% |
| 2017 | $9,568 | −6.19% |
| 2018 | $10,869 | −5.98% |
| 2019 | $11,731 | −5.65% |
| 2024 | $19,835 | −4.94% |
| 2016 | $8,292 | −4.84% |
| 2015 | $7,872 | −4.7% |
| 2014 | $7,465 | −3.96% |
| 2021 | $16,005 | −3.12% |
| 2025 | $21,311 | −2.66% |
| 2023 | $19,251 | −1.9% |
| 2020 | $13,528 | −0.49% |
Most Elantra model years are down year over year, which creates a friendlier buying environment for used shoppers. The declines are generally larger on older years, while the newest years are falling more gradually. That pattern gives you more room to find value without giving up the newer-model features buyers tend to want.
The 2020 model year is holding steady, with prices close to flat year-over-year.
The 2020, 2023, and 2025 model years have held their value best, with the smallest year-over-year price changes.

Consider waiting if:

Absolutely the best car I have ever owned! I bought it in 2015 as a certified pre-owned vehicle and never once did I have any mechanical issues other than just this year the pump for the windshield wiper fluid finally went out. However, my boyfriend and I were able to repair that on our own. I planned on keeping this car a good long time as I take care of my vehicles. Unfortunately I was rear-ended in October and the vehicle was totaled. Im putting my faith once again into Hyundai and buying a certified pre-owned 2020 Kona that I have researched heavily. I loved my Elantra and found it to be an excellent vehicle. I very much hope to have the same exact experience with my Kona as when I test drove a 2018 which had the same engine as the 2020 I found it extremely responsive, fantastic breaking, smooth ride even on bumpy bad roads, major safety features, very powerful, and felt just like my Elantra to drive.

Why it stands out
The 2023 Hyundai Elantra stands out because it offers a wide range of appeal in one compact sedan. According to the test-drive summary, it can serve as basic transportation, a 50-mpg hybrid loaded with features, or one of the best sports sedans you can buy on a budget. That breadth is a major part of its identity, and it helps explain why the Elantra can fit so many different kinds of buyers.
It also earns attention for being roomy, safe, efficient, and technologically advanced. The test-drive data highlights multiple powertrain options, easy-to-use technology, and excellent value for money, which makes the car feel well-rounded rather than narrowly focused. Owners echo some of those strengths, especially fuel economy, safety features, and value, while also praising the stylish design and tech features.
There are tradeoffs, though. The test-drive data notes that the Elantra’s design may be polarizing, and some owners mention concerns about interior quality and noise, including cheap-feeling materials and rattling noises. Even so, the 2023 Hyundai Elantra remains distinctive because it combines efficiency, technology, and value with enough variety to appeal to shoppers looking for very different things in the same car.
