| 2016 | 46.3% |

Key things to evaluate:
- Safety package: Honda Sensing collection of advanced driving assistance systems (ADAS)
- Infotainment: 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto
- Fuel efficiency: 31 mpg in the city, 39 mpg on the highway, and 34 mpg in combined driving
Which Honda Civic trim should I buy?
The 2026 Honda Civic offers...
- LX: This is the entry point for the sedan lineup and gives you the Civic’s core formula with the 2.0-liter engine, CVT, and standard tech and safety equipment. It suits you if you want the most straightforward Civic experience.
- Sport: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds a more polished feel, 18-inch wheels, and blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert. It also brings the eight-speaker audio system, making it a smart step up if you want more everyday convenience.
- Sport Hybrid: This trim adds Honda’s Two Motor Hybrid powertrain, giving you the strongest blend of efficiency and performance in the lineup. It’s the one to choose if you want the Civic’s best all-around powertrain.
- Sport Touring Hybrid: This is the most feature-rich sedan trim, adding larger displays, Google built-in, Alexa built-in, wireless smartphone charging, and a 12-speaker Bose audio system. It suits you if you want the most advanced and upscale Civic sedan.
What Honda Civic do most buyers choose?
The Honda Civic years with the most listings are 2024, 2023, and 2025.
| Model Year | Total Listings | Good + Great Deals % |
|---|---|---|
| 2024 | 5,204 | 33.1% |
| 2023 | 4,700 | 31.6% |
| 2025 | 4,365 | 33.4% |
| 2022 | 3,048 | 30.3% |
| 2019 | 2,958 | 29.7% |
| 2021 | 2,724 | 29.8% |
Higher-volume model years usually give you more choices across trims, prices, and condition levels, which makes them especially attractive when you want to compare several similar listings. They also tend to be easier to shop because there are more examples on the market at once.
What is the Honda Civic's resale value?
| Model Year | Current Avg. Price | Year-Over-Year Change |
|---|---|---|
| 2020 | $18,872 | −5.44% |
| 2019 | $17,517 | −5.15% |
| 2021 | $19,473 | −3.94% |
| 2022 | $22,556 | −3.83% |
| 2017 | $15,331 | −3.75% |
| 2025 | $25,863 | −3.41% |
| 2016 | $13,918 | −3.24% |
| 2018 | $16,273 | −2.85% |
| 2024 | $25,438 | −1.2% |
| 2023 | $24,470 | −0.54% |
| 2014 | $11,317 | +0.36% |
| 2015 | $12,262 | +0.72% |
Most model years in the table are down year over year, which is helpful if you’re shopping used and want prices to be moving in your favor. The declines are especially noticeable in several recent and mid-cycle years, while a few older years are close to flat or slightly higher. That mix suggests broad softening overall, with only a small number of years showing stability.
The 2014, 2015, and 2023 model years are holding steady, with prices close to flat year-over-year.
The 2015, 2014, and 2023 model years have held their value best, with the smallest year-over-year price changes.

Should I buy a used Honda Civic now or wait for the next model?
Buy now if:
- Price trend: The 2025 model is at −3.41% versus a year ago, and the 2024 model is at −1.2%.
- Deal availability: The 2025 model has 33.4% good and great deals, and the 2024 model has 33.1%.
- Sweet-spot year: The 2024 model has the most listings at a current average price of $25,438. The Honda Civic offers a roomy cabin, broad body-style choice, and a well-rounded driving character that make it easy to live with every day.
Consider waiting if:
- Powertrain/efficiency: Five Civic sedans are available. In ascending order of price the core models are LX, Sport, Sport Hybrid, and Sport Touring Hybrid. Civic LX and Civic Sport models have a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine supplying a merely adequate 150 horsepower and 133 lb-ft of torque. The Hybrids use Honda’s excellent Two Motor Hybrid powertrain, offering remarkable power and impressive efficiency.
- Tech: The Civic’s standard 7-inch digital instrumentation panel and 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system are models of simplicity. You can get a taste of that by choosing the Civic Si or Sport Touring Hybrid, which have larger 10.2-inch instrumentation and 9-inch infotainment displays, Google built-in, Alexa built-in, access to a Wi-Fi hotspot, wireless smartphone charging, and more.
- Safety: Honda equips every 2026 Civic with its Honda Sensing collection of advanced driving assistance systems (ADAS). The package includes forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, and lane-centering assist. Adaptive cruise control is also standard, and at lower speeds, the Civic features Traffic Jam Assist, which basically means the lane-centering assist works at low speeds.
- Starting price: For the 2026 model year, prices range from $25,790 to $34,690 with the $1,195 destination charge.
If you're buying used today, the 2024 model year offers the best mix of value and availability. If you want the latest tech and features, it may be worth waiting for 2027 inventory to mature.

Customers say
The Honda Civic has consistently garnered positive feedback from owners across its various model years, praised for its reliability, impressive fuel economy, and enjoyable driving experience. Shoppers appreciate the comfortable interiors and ample cargo space, making it a preferred choice among many families and first-time car buyers. However, some drivers have expressed concerns over the lack of certain modern features and the need for more power in acceleration across different models. Overall, the Honda Civic remains a solid choice for a dependable and fun-to-drive compact car.

I think this car offers a lot of value for the money. It comes with a strong set of features that make it comfortable, practical, and enjoyable to drive. The design looks modern, and it has many of the technology and safety features that most drivers are looking for today. One of the biggest strengths of this car is its balance between performance, comfort, and affordability. It feels like you get a lot without having to move into a much higher price range. While no vehicle is perfect, this car does a great job meeting the needs of most drivers. The overall package is competitive and well-rounded, making it a smart choice for someone looking for reliability, style, and everyday usability. Compared with other vehicles in its class, this car stands out as a strong contender and is definitely worth considering. It offers an attractive combination of features, value, and driving experience that makes it easy to recommend.

Car was super clean, better than what the pictures showed. Features are good and it was very low mileage. If I have to add something to the car, it would be the back up sensors and blind spot sensors. Other than that it was a great purchase

Why it stands out
The 2023 Honda Civic stands out because it sits in the 11th generation, which Honda debuted for 2022 with a more refined, more upscale look, strong engine choices, and updated technology. It also marked the first Civic Hatchback built in the U.S. for an American audience. Inside, the biggest upgrade is the cabin, where Honda used a signature honeycomb mesh panel to hide the HVAC vents and improved the materials throughout. For buyers, that combination of polish, practicality, and everyday usability is a big part of the Civic’s appeal.
The 2023 model also benefits from the Civic’s long-running reputation for being efficient, safe, practical, and affordable, while still being genuinely fun to drive. Standard equipment on non-hybrid 11th-generation cars includes Apple CarPlay, Honda Sensing, a 7-inch infotainment screen, LED headlights and taillights, push-button start, and automatic climate control. Safety is another strength: every model in this generation has earned some form of Top Safety Pick designation from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety. At the same time, the generation is not perfect. The sticky steering issue affects cars from 2022 to 2025, and oil dilution in the 1.5-liter turbo affects 2022 to 2024 models. Some owners also report interior rattles, water intrusion after heavy rain, infotainment glitches, and false alerts from Honda Sensing.
