Dodge Monaco Overview
When Chrysler acquired Renault in the 1980s, it tried to figure out a way to sell off the Renault line. Initially it repackaged the French-engineered cars into their AMC/Jeep Eagle line, producing the Eagle Premier, a four-door, five-passenger family sedan. When sales fared badly for the Premier, Chrysler repackaged it again in 1990 as the Dodge Monaco.
Virtually identical to the Premier, except for a redesigned grille and taillights, the Monaco offered full-size comfort in the mid-size category and price range. It was short-lived and only came in two trims, which carried the same 3.0 V6 engine. Not offering anything particularly unique compared to the Premier or to Dodge's own Dynasty, the Monaco lasted only three years.
In its place, Dodge would introduce the Intrepid, a much more stylish family sedan that was just as roomy as the Monaco. Still, for its short life, the Dodge Monaco had some fans. Most owners liked its classic style and said it had a kicky little engine and smooth handling for such a large car. Its roomy, comfortable inside was the big selling point. A high-cost maintenance record disappointed some owners.

(10 reviews)I only kept it 23 years...that says it all. Performance-surprisingly good for a big car even though it only had a 318, but it averaged 26.8 mpg on a 6000 mile road trip to California, Colorado and Manitoba. Amazing. Sold the car when it had 267,000 miles on it. Not bad.
This was my first car. I don't really remember what the gas millage was. As far as performance it wasn't amazing but it was good. the build was a solid build( it was a beast)! I mean I wasn't overly excited about it but it ran great. I hated to get read of it but o well.
Its a 318 wide block. (318 big block). runs great. 727 tranny. 8 3/4 rear diff. 14" rims allround. orginal car. cost $750. has some orginal paper work. Car came from toronto. Its rides nice. gas mileage it sucks. just like any old car.
400 Interceptor bb OE 4 BBL Thermoquad carburator 3:21 gears in the rear OE power steering and trans coolers OE trailer towing package Only 668 built I bought this car when I turned eighteen. I have put on about 125000 kms on it. It only had 78000 when I bought it. I have done some work to it, there is dual 2 1\4 inch exhaust, accel coil, I also changed the water pump, timing chain and gears, front brakes recently and there is a lot more but I don't have enough time in one day to type it all out.
This car went through many Changes in my Life & it was Completely rebuilt. Totaled 3 times Repainted Red in 1984. It was a Nice Family & Race Car. But it was a lot of work to keep it on the road due to electrical Problems
