Base model CLS that I purchased in 1990 from the second owner for $2,700. Had 31,000 miles on it and a month left on the warranty. It's got 210,000 on it now. To date I've done one clutch replacement along with CV boots, brakes, exhaust system and recently third timing belt. Shortly after I purchased it I bought and installed the factory air conditioner kit. Puts a bit of load on the 3 cyl motor but kept it cool while I was in Southern California. Now works great to defog the windows up here in the Pacific Northwest. Still on original charge after 20 years. Valves easy to adjust and engine only holds a little over 3 qts of oil. I've ran Mobil 1 the whole time. Engine still clean under valve cover. Did have to replace O-ring on distributor shaft. Great fuel economy 35-40 mpg on freeway and 25-35 around town. Original paint started to crack at 17 year mark. Driver seat vinyl failed at 12 year mark...just buy a new sheepskin seat cover every so often. Still very tight and solid. Runs well through snow, slush & ice. Great commuter and grocery get'er. Made two 5,000 mile road trip from CA to KY and back in summer and winter. Could use a cruise control

i have rebuilt a cb 60 1.0 3cyl turbo engine which has helped the performance side of things as it was non turbo. as far as repair side of thing goes it is a 18 year old car and did need a overhaul on everything . i have fitted super low king springs with adjustable kyb struts bigger sway bars rear disc brake conversion from an applause the exhaust is a high flow item with cannon muffler. Inside i have fitted a rare GTTi trim 7 inch LCD tv dvd system with clarion digital amps fusion splits and pioneer competition sub in a custom qmax enclosure. The front end is from a GTTI and side skirts from a g200 modified to fit. overall the performance is there and is a fun car to drive

Most fun small car that I've had. 12 valve, 3 cylinder, fuel injected turbo with less than 1 liter engine capacity. Low road tax, reasonable fuel consumption (in relation to it's performance). Could carry a fair load of things despite it's small overall size. Most excellent car. Handling was not as good as a Suzuki Swift GTI or the Civic and build quality was not too good (has a spot weld crack that creaked throughout the car's life). Paint was very thin. Sleeper in appearance. No one expects a 1 liter car to run as fast.
