Chrysler 300M Overview
The Chrysler 300 name has certainly stood the test of time. The badge has its origin in Chrysler's limited production "letter series" of performance luxury cars built from 1955 to 1965. After the 1965 300L, the series was discontinued. Thus, the 300M name attempts to connect the car to its roots. Chrysler was challenged to find the ideal combination of performance and luxury, and in 2002 the series was split into 2 distinct models. The 300M's counterpart was the performance-focused Special, which added a sport suspension, larger brakes, a more powerful engine, and slightly different interior and exterior details. Both cars were powered by a 3.5 liter V-6, mated to a four-speed automatic transmission with Chrysler's AutoStick manual shifter. Despite a marginal horsepower difference, both cars traveled from 0 to 60 in around 7.5 seconds. The 300M series was the final use use of Chrysler's LH cab-forward design, which maximized interior space. The 300M's successor would be built atop the former Mercedes E-Class platform, creating an entirely new 300. Both 300M received much acclaim for comfort and performance, but Chrysler reputation for reliability was hampered by small but frequent nags like mechanical failures, electrical problems, and interior degradation.

The Chrysler 300M has been well-received by owners across its model years, praised for its performance, comfort, and stylish design. Many appreciate its spacious interiors and the strong power delivered by its V6 engine, making it a favorite for both everyday driving and long trips. Good fuel economy and an enjoyable driving experience are also common highlights. However, some drivers have raised concerns about long-term reliability, with issues like electrical problems and cheap interior materials being noted. Despite these critiques, many drivers love the blend of luxury and performance that the 300M offers.

This was not my first car but my first car from a dealership with payments. I got a great deal on it and was in love with the car from the moment I first saw it. Compared to my previous ride this car was as smooth as a cloud to drive, and had a whole lot more power. (Previous car: 1987 Plymouth Reliant) To this day after a little over a year the car remains to be an incredibly smooth ride. Impressive considering I drive it like a race car through bumpy countrysides, between 60 - 110 MPH daily for 50-350 miles a day since purchase, and it has needed no work related to the engine. The car is extremely reliable, the winters are bad where I live and last winter I had to go pick up my mom because her car couldn't make it home, I drove at 50 passing people on the way there in 3 inch deep snow and more falling as I drove with only studded tires. Even though the car is only front wheel drive it handles in the snow better than many cars that boast there snow drive ability such as Subarus, due to the design of the car. It has amazing handling on all terrains except deep mud, which I have also tested lol. As stated in the cons the initial looks do leave a bit to be desired, however, there are a few after market parts that wont break the bank and dramatically increase the look of the car. I bought some black with white halo led projector headlight frames and blue hid bulbs, along with a black mesh style grille and black out spray for the other lights on the car, my car is silver so I was going for a black trimmed silver look that came out quite nicely. I was skeptical but this 400$ upgrade made the looks of my car go through the roof in coolness, I notice people checking my car out all the time now as this is a car not often "pimped out" and it really does look unique and awesome. This cars power is quite impressive as well. Even in deep snow I haven't encountered a single road or hill, off road or on that this car couldn't climb or drive like a dream. I really love the 6 cylinder engine; a great balance of power, snappiness and gas mileage. Additionally, for about 400$ you can upgrade the exhaust and air intake and really boost this cars power and performance even more, an investment I plan to make soon. Also this car does have a restrictor/limiter on the engine that tops out at 112, going to have mine removed soon but currently do not know the speeds this car is capable of beyond that. I found out about the limiter in an interstate race with a newer, 05-09 Chrysler 300 who apparently had the same engine as me as we were completely neck in neck until the limiter kicked in. In long conclusion, I love this car. The features are all here, or available for upgrade such as with the in dash radio, for which a full touch screen GPS navi system is available for under 300$. Other than that this car has beautiful, comfortable and heated, leather seats to match the beautiful full leather interior. This is probably the most comfortable modern car I have sat in, comparable to the comfort of a 70s-80s top of the line Chrysler luxury boat such as the LeBaron or New Yorker. I have actually needed to sleep in the car before and the sleeps were never uncomfortable, whether laying back in the front or sleeping in the back seat its always really comfortable. Speaking of the backseats, they are designed as two individual, full bucket seats with an optional third seat or cup holder/arm rest, the result: a comfortable, presidential feel when riding in the back seat. And that concludes my review, hope that it sways you towards one day buying a Chrysler. After this car I am convinced that Chryslers are one the best cars on the road. Down the line, though I do plan to keep this car, I will more than likely only buy new 300s or older 300s to fix up and collect as they are great cars with great style, luxury and performance. Thanks for reading!
i love this car it is the best car that i have ever owned i truly love this car and would recommend it to anyone who was looking for a performance luxury car! definitely worth every dollar i payed for it!!
I replaced my 2000 Intrepid ES (3.2L) after 135,000 miles of virtually trouble free operation. I replaced it with a Low Mileage '02 300M Special. It has the optional performance suspension upgrade including the 18" Wheels & Michelin Pilot Sport Tires. Great handling, good acceleration (remember it's not a muscle car!) great comfort, features, and style!
I have owned four (4) 2001-2003 Chrysler 300ms - all have been good for 150k plus miles, so of course Im always looking for another one (my current daily driver 01 has 182k miles) to add to my fleet. They are very well equipped, drive and handle nicely, and get good fuel economy. Make sure to change the timing belt/water pump every 7 years/100k miles, and you should be able to go 200k miles easily!
Great looking luxury sports sedan. Performance suspension feels great. The exhaust sounds mean. Very comfortable ride. Hardly had any issues with the vehicle - nothing major. The Special model has good acceleration, braking and over all control. Would recommend to anyone.
