Key things to evaluate:
- Safety package: Chevy Safety Assist
- Infotainment: 17.7-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto
- Fuel efficiency: up to 27 mpg on the highway
Which Chevrolet Tahoe trim should I buy?
The 2025 Chevrolet Tahoe offers these trims:
- LS: The entry trim brings the new 17.7-inch touchscreen and the ADAS suite, making it the best-value choice if you want the latest cabin tech and core capability without moving up the ladder.
- LT: Adds more equipment and is the first step up for shoppers who want a more upscale feel and broader feature content.
- Z71: Adds full-length skid plates, front recovery hooks, all-terrain tires, 20-inch wheels, and an extra one-inch lift, making it the clear pick if you want the off-road-focused version.
- RST: Adds street-performance-focused styling and can be equipped with the 6.2-liter V8, making it a strong fit if you want a sportier look.
- Premier: Adds a more luxurious setup and can be equipped with the 6.2-liter V8 or the diesel, making it a good fit if comfort and features matter most.
- High Country: Adds the 6.2-liter V8 as standard equipment and sits at the top of the lineup for shoppers who want the most premium Tahoe experience.
What Chevrolet Tahoe do most buyers choose?
The Chevrolet Tahoe years with the most listings are 2022, 2023, and 2024.
| Model Year | Total Listings | Good + Great Deals % |
|---|---|---|
| 2022 | 7,790 | 33.1% |
| 2023 | 7,564 | 33.2% |
| 2024 | 7,492 | 33.7% |
| 2021 | 5,023 | 33% |
| 2025 | 4,494 | 33.8% |
| 2020 | 4,282 | 32.6% |
These higher-volume years tend to be the most popular used picks because they give you the broadest selection of trims, prices, and equipment. They also sit close enough to the newest redesign to deliver modern features while still offering more used-market value than the latest model years.
What is the Chevrolet Tahoe's resale value?
| Model Year | Current Avg. Price | Year-Over-Year Change |
|---|---|---|
| 2020 | $25,920 | −16.11% |
| 2024 | $53,975 | −14.95% |
| 2022 | $43,752 | −13.95% |
| 2018 | $21,926 | −13.41% |
| 2021 | $38,813 | −13.4% |
| 2017 | $19,697 | −13.33% |
| 2025 | $61,586 | −13.14% |
| 2019 | $23,950 | −12.34% |
| 2016 | $18,003 | −11.69% |
| 2015 | $15,993 | −9.77% |
| 2023 | $50,071 | −8.1% |
| 2014 | $12,339 | −4.65% |
Most Tahoe model years are down by double digits year over year, which creates better opportunities for used buyers. The steepest drops are concentrated in several recent and mid-cycle years, while a few older examples have declined more slowly. That pattern suggests you can find meaningful value across much of the lineup if you shop carefully.
The 2014, 2023, and 2015 model years have held their value best, with the smallest year-over-year price changes.

- Deal availability: The 2025 model has 33.8% good and great deals, and the 2024 model has 33.7%.
- Sweet-spot year: The 2022 model has the most listings at a current average price of $43,752. The Chevrolet Tahoe offers roomy seating, strong towing ability, and a cabin built for family use and long trips.
Consider waiting if:
- Powertrain/efficiency: The 2025 Tahoe offers a 5.3-liter V8 with 355 horsepower and 383 pound-feet of torque, a 6.2-liter V8 with 420 hp and 460 lb-ft of torque, and a 3.0-liter inline six-cylinder diesel with 305 hp and 495 lb-ft of torque.
- Tech: The 2025 Tahoe brings a 17.7-inch touchscreen, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Google Built-in, an 11-inch driver information screen, and an optional 15-inch head-up display.
- Safety: The latest Tahoe includes automatic emergency braking, lane-keeping assist with lane-departure warning, pedestrian and bicycle braking, automatic parking assist, a surround-view camera, and a teen driver monitoring system.
- Starting price: The LS trim starts at $60,495.
If you're buying used today, the 2022 model year offers the best mix of value and availability. If you want the latest tech and features, it may be worth waiting for the next model year's inventory to build up.

Customers say
Overall, the Chevrolet Tahoe is highly regarded by owners for its spaciousness, comfort, and strong performance across all model years. Drivers appreciate the vehicle's reliability and array of features that make it family-friendly, suitable for towing, and enjoyable for long trips. However, many also express concerns about its fuel economy, high price tag, and the occasional lack of modern features, such as updated interior designs and tech. Despite these drawbacks, the Tahoe remains a popular choice for those needing a robust and versatile SUV.

CarGurus recommends the 2024 Chevrolet Tahoe
Summary
With 7,465 currently listed for sale and an average price of $54,041, 36.7% of 2024 Chevrolet Tahoe listings on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favorably reviewed: Owners rated the 2024 Chevrolet Tahoe 5 / 5 stars.
89.6% of 2024 Chevrolet Tahoe listings on CarGurus are accident free.
Why it stands out
The 2024 Chevrolet Tahoe stands out as a full-size SUV that blends family-friendly space with serious utility. It offers room for five people but can carry up to nine, has plenty of cargo space behind the second-row seat, and is praised for towing heavy loads. At the same time, its size can be a challenge in cities and on trails, and there isn’t much cargo room behind the third-row seat, so buyers should expect the Tahoe’s strengths to come from its scale and capability rather than compact maneuverability.
For 2024, the Tahoe carried over without changes, so its appeal comes from the broader fifth-generation package. That generation brought independent rear suspension for the first time, which lowered the rear floor and improved third-row space and comfort, while also increasing maximum cargo volume to 122.9 cubic feet with both rear rows folded flat. It also added a 10.2-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay, wireless Android Auto, and a 4G LTE Wi-Fi hotspot, plus available towing cameras and features such as Hitch Guidance and Hitch View. The standard 355-horsepower 5.3-liter V8, available 420-hp 6.2-liter V8, and optional 277hp Duramax turbodiesel 3.0-liter inline six-cylinder give the Tahoe a wide range of powertrain choices, and when properly equipped it can tow 8,400 pounds.
The 2024 Tahoe is especially appealing to buyers who want a large SUV that feels modern and versatile without giving up traditional Tahoe strengths. Its standard Chevy Safety Assist package includes lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, and front and rear parking sensors, and the Tahoe LT and higher trims add a standard 12.3-inch digital instrumentation display and Google Built-in infotainment system. The main tradeoffs remain the Tahoe’s thirsty V8 engines and its bulk, but for shoppers who value space, towing ability, and a well-equipped cabin, the 2024 Tahoe remains a compelling choice.
