Is the Chevrolet Colorado a good car?
Yes — the Chevrolet Colorado is a strong used-truck choice if you want a midsize pickup with broad capability and everyday usability. The all-generations owner rating is 4.25/5 across every model year in the data.
Owners consistently praise its balance of performance, comfort, and versatility, along with its smooth ride, towing ability, and roomy cabin. Across the years, shoppers also tend to value its truck utility, manageable size, and useful mix of trims and powertrains.
Expert reviews rate the 2015 and 2025 models among the highest across all years.
The main trade-offs that show up in recent expert reviews are poor fuel economy, interior materials that feel cheap, and ergonomic quirks in the cabin.
34.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
Are Chevrolet Colorado models reliable?
Owners and experts consistently point to the Colorado’s strong capability, comfortable ride, and versatile trim range as core strengths. Across the model years, it also earns praise for useful towing ability and a practical midsize footprint that works well for daily use.
- Owners rate the Chevrolet Colorado between 3.0 and 5.0 out of 5 stars across all model years in the data.
For used buyers, long-term ownership risk is most worth watching on older trucks, where transmission and other age-related issues show up more often in the model history.

The 2026 Chevrolet Colorado offers these trims:
- WT: The work-truck foundation gives you the most affordable starting point, and it suits you if you want a straightforward Colorado with the essentials.
- LT: This mid-grade trim adds more interior amenities and serves as the basis for the Z71, making it the best-value choice for many shoppers.
- Trail Boss: This version adds off-road-tuned suspension, a two-inch factory lift, a wider stance, all-terrain tires, Off-Road and Terrain driving modes, and hill descent control.
- Z71: This trim builds on the LT with more off-road capability.
- ZR2: At the top of the lineup, this trim adds even more features and extra off-roading hardware.

| 2021 | 3,164 | 34.2% |

Consider waiting if:

Customers say
The Chevrolet Colorado has consistently impressed owners with its balance of performance, comfort, and versatility across its model years. Many drivers highlight its smooth ride, good towing capability, and spacious interior, making it suitable for both families and work use. However, some common criticisms include cramped rear seating in certain models, cabin noise, and a wish for improved technology features. Overall, the Colorado is favored for its capable engines and good gas mileage, although some drivers have noted concerns regarding build quality and feature set, especially in lower trims.

Looks good in the pictures. When I went to go check it out, I found a rust hole in the frame (drivers side in front of the rear wheel). Also, someone had sprayed spray foam into the rockers, sanded it down, then painted over it. The undercarriage was coated with protection, but only after it started rusting. When I brought it up to the dealership they passed it off as "typical mn rust." A hole in the frame is not "typical." In my opinion, this truck is priced about $7,000 above what it's truly worth and the dealership has no interest in negotiating.

I really like the exterior aesthetic of this truck. It has an aggressive front-end styling and some key features to allow for some mild off-roading with no major modifications needed. Interior is very nice too, with leather seats and ZR2 badging on headrests. I can’t wait to drive it!

Why it stands out
The 2024 Chevrolet Colorado stands out as a midsize truck that leans hard into the modern lifestyle-pickup formula. Its bold redesign gives it a more contemporary presence, and the truck is positioned around a wide range of performance capabilities and cutting-edge technology. Chevrolet’s approach here is less about offering a bare-bones work truck and more about delivering a well-equipped pickup for buyers who want something suited to recreation as much as utility.
That focus shows up in the Colorado’s strengths. It offers easy-to-use technology, refined on-road handling, and impressive off-road handling, which makes it appealing whether the truck is spending time on pavement or away from it. The tradeoffs are worth noting, though: the cabin materials are described as drab, there is only one cab/bed style, and the price is high. For buyers who value capability, modern features, and a more polished driving experience, the 2024 Chevrolet Colorado has a lot to offer, even if it asks for a premium.
