- Fuel efficiency: returns up to 21 mpg in combined city and highway driving (RWD models)
Which Chevrolet Colorado trim should I buy?
The 2026 Chevrolet Colorado offers these trims:
- WT: The work-truck foundation gives you the Colorado’s core setup, and it suits buyers who want the most straightforward entry point.
- LT: This mid-grade trim serves as the basis for the Z71 and adds a more equipped everyday feel.
- Trail Boss: This trim adds off-road-tuned suspension, a two-inch factory lift, a wider stance, all-terrain tires, Off-Road and Terrain driving modes, and hill descent control; it’s the best-value pick if you want off-road capability without moving to the top of the range.
- Z71: Built from the LT, this trim adds off-road capability and sits above the Trail Boss in the hierarchy.
- ZR2: At the top of the lineup, this trim adds even more features and extra off-roading hardware, including 33-inch mud-terrain tires and Multimatic DSSV dampers.
What Chevrolet Colorado do most buyers choose?
The Chevrolet Colorado years with the most listings are 2023, 2024, and 2022.
| Model Year | Total Listings | Good + Great Deals % |
|---|---|---|
| 2023 | 4,690 | 31.7% |
| 2024 | 3,814 | 32% |
| 2022 | 3,811 | 30.9% |
| 2025 | 3,191 | 31.7% |
| 2021 | 3,134 | 30.5% |
| 2020 | 2,430 | 30.3% |
These higher-volume years tend to be popular because they give you a wider selection of trims, prices, and deal opportunities. They also sit close enough to the current generation to deliver newer features while still offering used-car value.
What is the Chevrolet Colorado's resale value?
| Model Year | Current Avg. Price | Year-Over-Year Change |

| 2022 | $26,035 | −9.31% |
| 2019 | $21,989 | −7.81% |
| 2018 | $20,652 | −7.3% |

Most Colorado model years are down year over year, which is good news if you’re shopping used and want more truck for the money. The declines are fairly consistent across the lineup, with only modest variation from one year to the next. That pattern suggests a market where prices have softened broadly rather than moving sharply in one direction.
The 2016, 2015, and 2020 model years have held their value best, with the smallest year-over-year price changes.

Should I buy a used Chevrolet Colorado now or wait for the next model?
Buy now if:
- Price trend: The 2025 model is at −6.6% versus a year ago, and the 2024 model is at −6.14%.
- Deal availability: The 2025 model has 31.7% good and great deals, and the 2024 model has 32%.

Consider waiting if:
- Powertrain/efficiency: All 2026 Chevrolet Colorado trims come with a turbocharged 2.7-liter four-cylinder engine and an eight-speed automatic transmission, and the engine generates 310 horsepower and 430 pound-feet of torque.
- Tech: The 11-inch digital driver display and 11.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system running on Google built-in technology bring Google Maps, Google Assistant, wireless Apple CarPlay, and wireless Android Auto.
- Safety: The Colorado’s Chevy Safety Assist suite and Safety Package include forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, pedestrian and cyclist detection, lane-departure warning, lane-keep assist, automatic high-beam headlights, blind-spot monitors, rear cross-traffic alert, and rear parking sensors.
- Starting price: Prices range from $36,590 to $54,890.
If you're buying used today, the 2023 model year offers the best mix of value and availability. If you want the latest tech and features, it may be worth waiting for the next model year's inventory to build up.

Customers say
The Chevrolet Colorado has consistently impressed owners with its balance of performance, comfort, and versatility across its model years. Many drivers highlight its smooth ride, good towing capability, and spacious interior, making it suitable for both families and work use. However, some common criticisms include cramped rear seating in certain models, cabin noise, and a wish for improved technology features. Overall, the Colorado is favored for its capable engines and good gas mileage, although some drivers have noted concerns regarding build quality and feature set, especially in lower trims.

Looks good in the pictures. When I went to go check it out, I found a rust hole in the frame (drivers side in front of the rear wheel). Also, someone had sprayed spray foam into the rockers, sanded it down, then painted over it. The undercarriage was coated with protection, but only after it started rusting. When I brought it up to the dealership they passed it off as "typical mn rust." A hole in the frame is not "typical." In my opinion, this truck is priced about $7,000 above what it's truly worth and the dealership has no interest in negotiating.

I really like the exterior aesthetic of this truck. It has an aggressive front-end styling and some key features to allow for some mild off-roading with no major modifications needed. Interior is very nice too, with leather seats and ZR2 badging on headrests. I can’t wait to drive it!

The Colorado trail boss is a fantastic vehicle. Plenty of power, especially for a 4 cylinder motor. No trouble at all keeping up with or moving past traffic. The over 11 inch screen is awesome. The truck looks stout and like a beast. Plenty of room in the back seat. Love this little beast!

Why it stands out
The 2021 Chevrolet Colorado stands out as a midsize pickup that offers a strong mix of capability and everyday usability. It sits in the second generation, where Chevrolet gave the truck a broad range of powertrains and trims, and the lineup’s strengths are concentrated in the mid-range and higher-spec models. Buyers looking for a Colorado in this year get a truck that is generally considered a solid companion and a good value for the money, with the added appeal of more performance and brawn than the base versions.
For 2021, the Colorado’s appeal is tied to its available equipment and versatility. The W.T. trim serves as the entry point, while the L.T. adds features such as an 8-inch touchscreen and the E.Z. Lift & Lower tailgate. The Z71 brings an off-road suspension package, automatic locking rear differential, skid plates, unique wheels with all-terrain tires, automatic climate control, driver power lumbar control, and wireless charging. At the top, the ZR2 adds serious off-road hardware, including Multimatic DSSV Damping System, increased ground clearance and track width, and larger 265/65R17 all-terrain tires. The diesel option is also notable in this generation for its 7,700-pound towing capacity and up to 31 mpg on the highway, though the truck’s reliability record is weakened by recurring transmission issues in models built from 2014 to 2019 and even a few later ones.
Owners also tend to value the 2021 Colorado for its features and performance, especially in the Z71 and ZR2 models. Reviewers commonly praise its value, ride quality, and decent gas mileage. At the same time, some drivers point to a harsh ride, cabin noise, and limited back-seat comfort, which keeps the Colorado from feeling fully polished despite its strengths.
