Key things to evaluate:

• Safety package: Active blind-spot detection with exit warning, front-collision warning with pedestrian- and cyclist detection, and Active Driving Assistant Professional with speed limit assist, extended traffic-jam assistant, lane departure warning, and adaptive cruise control with stop & go.
• Infotainment: BMW Curved Display with iDrive 8, including the 10.7-inch infotainment screen and the 10.25-inch driver information display, plus Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
• Fuel efficiency: 25 mpg city, 34 highway, and 28 combined.

Which BMW X1 trim should I buy?

The 2023 BMW X1 offers these trims:

• xDrive28i: The single 2023 trim brings standard all-wheel drive, the BMW Curved Display with iDrive 8, Live Cockpit Plus, standard LED headlights and taillights, and a premium-feeling cabin; it’s the best-value choice because it’s the only trim and already includes the core X1 experience.

What BMW X1 do most buyers choose?

The BMW X1 years with the most listings are 2025, 2026, and 2024.

Higher-volume model years usually give you more listings to compare, which can make it easier to find the right color, mileage, and equipment mix. They also tend to be the years shoppers focus on most when balancing price, availability, and newer features.

What is the BMW X1's resale value?

Most BMW X1 model years are down year over year, which can work in your favor if you’re shopping used. The steepest drops are concentrated in some of the newer and mid-cycle years, while a few model years are falling more slowly. That gives you several places to shop for value depending on how much you want to prioritize price versus newer equipment.

The 2016, 2022, and 2023 model years have held their value best, with the smallest year-over-year price changes.

Is the BMW X1 safe?

• 2023: 7/10
• 2016: 7/10

For the safest used buy, the 2016 and 2023 models both post the highest confirmed score of 7/10.

Should I buy a used BMW X1 now or wait for the next model?

Buy now if:

• Price trend: The 2025 model is at −11.68% versus a year ago, and the 2024 model is at −6.43%.
• Deal availability: The 2025 model has 36.7% good and great deals, and the 2024 model has 36.9%.
• Sweet-spot year: The 2025 model has the most listings at a current average price of $37,478. The BMW X1 offers a premium cabin with a polished, upscale feel that fits its luxury-SUV character.

Consider waiting if:

• Powertrain/efficiency: The latest X1’s 2.0-liter twin-turbo four-cylinder makes 241 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque, and it returns 25 mpg city, 34 highway, and 28 combined.
• Tech: The BMW Curved Display integrates the 10.7-inch infotainment screen and the 10.25-inch driver information display, and Android Auto is also included.
• Safety: Active blind-spot detection becomes standard, and it includes a new exit warning function.

If you're buying used today, the 2025 model year offers the best mix of value and availability. If you want the latest tech and features, it may be worth waiting for the next model year's inventory to build up.
