Key things to evaluate:
- Safety package: Standard safety features include automatic high-beam headlights, forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, lane-departure warning, adaptive cruise control, front and rear parking sensors, a semi-autonomous parking assistance system, and a safe exit assist system.
- Infotainment: Audi Digital Stage includes an 11.9-inch Audi Virtual Cockpit Plus digital instrumentation display and a 14.5-inch OLED touchscreen for the Multimedia Interface (MMI) infotainment system, plus wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
- Fuel efficiency: The official EPA fuel economy rating is 22 mpg combined.
Which Audi SQ5 trim should I buy?
The 2025 Audi SQ5 offers these trims:
- Premium: This is the entry point and brings the Audi Digital Stage setup, the 11.9-inch Audi Virtual Cockpit Plus display, the 14.5-inch MMI touchscreen, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and standard safety features.
- Premium Plus: This is the best-value trim because it adds the 16-speaker Bang & Olufsen high-end 3D surround-sound system, a configurable head-up display, Adaptive Cruise Assist with lane-centering assist, and a surround-view camera system.
- Prestige: This trim adds the 10.9-inch front passenger touchscreen, Dynamic Interaction Lighting, and richer interior and lighting customization.
What Audi SQ5 do most buyers choose?
The Audi SQ5 years with the most listings are 2024, 2023, and 2022.
| Model Year | Total Listings | Good + Great Deals % |
|---|---|---|
| 2024 | 573 | 44% |
| 2023 | 544 | 43.9% |
| 2022 | 527 | 43.8% |
| 2019 | 394 | 36.8% |
| 2018 | 323 | 38.1% |
| 2020 | 304 | 35.5% |
These higher-volume years tend to be popular because they give you more inventory to compare and a wider spread of prices and deal quality. That usually makes it easier to find the right combination of mileage, condition, and equipment.
What is the Audi SQ5's resale value?
| Model Year | Current Avg. Price | Year-Over-Year Change |
|---|---|---|
| 2022 | $32,067 | −14.09% |
| 2021 | $29,517 | −12.53% |
| 2024 | $45,715 | −12.26% |
| 2023 | $40,301 | −9.34% |
| 2020 | $26,320 | −7.78% |
| 2018 | $19,898 | −6.97% |
| 2019 | $22,555 | −6.83% |
| 2025 | $55,988 | −6.77% |
The table shows broad downward movement across the lineup, which can work in your favor if you're shopping used. Several years have seen double-digit drops, while the smaller declines at the lower end suggest some models are softening more gradually than others. Overall, the pattern points to improving value for used buyers across recent model years.
The 2025, 2019, and 2018 model years have held their value best, with the smallest year-over-year price changes.

- 2025: 4/10
The 2025 SQ5 includes standard driver-assistance features such as automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, adaptive cruise control, lane-departure warning, rear cross-traffic alert, and parking sensors.
Should I buy a used Audi SQ5 now or wait for the next model?

- Deal availability: The 2024 model has 44% good and great deals.
- Sweet-spot year: The 2024 model has the most listings at a current average price of $45,715. The Audi SQ5 offers a sporty, upscale driving character with a premium cabin and strong everyday comfort.
Consider waiting if:

- Tech: Audi Digital Stage is the name the automaker gives to the collection of screens stretching across the SQ5’s dashboard. The Premium and Premium Plus trim levels include an 11.9-inch Audi Virtual Cockpit Plus digital instrumentation display and a 14.5-inch OLED touchscreen for the Multimedia Interface (MMI) infotainment system.
- Safety: Choose the Premium Plus trim, and Audi adds its Adaptive Cruise Assist technology, which pairs the adaptive cruise control with lane-centering assist for highway use. The Premium Plus also adds a surround-view camera system, which helps to make parking easier.
- Starting price: Audi offers the 2025 SQ5 and SQ5 Sportback in Premium, Premium Plus, and Prestige trim levels, priced from $66,095 to $74,295, with a $1,295 destination charge.
If you're buying used today, the 2024 model year offers the best mix of value and availability. If you want the latest tech and features, it may be worth waiting for the next model year's inventory to build up.

I think this is an overall excellent vehicle. Even with higher mileage, it is stylish and reliable, and has all the German engineering one could ask for. Not to mention comfort. And power.

Overview
About the Audi SQ5
The SQ5 is a sportier version of the Audi Q5, the German automaker’s compact crossover SUV. It adds a more powerful engine, unique suspension, and other performance elements while maintaining the practical aspects of the Q5.
What are the advantages of the Audi SQ5?
- Multiple body styles
- Powerful engine
- Standard all-wheel drive
What is the best Audi SQ5 model year?
The SQ5 was introduced for the 2014 model year. A second-generation version arrived for 2018 and was heavily updated for 2021. That update included the addition of a Sportback body style in addition to the standard SUV body style.
What are the disadvantages of the Audi SQ5?
- Cramped back seat (Sportback)
- Can get expensive
Comparison: Is the Audi SQ5 better than the Genesis GV70?
The Genesis GV70 is the Korean luxury brand’s rival to the Q5, but while the two models overlap in price, Genesis doesn’t offer a sportier version to compete directly with the SQ5. The Audi will leave the Genesis in the dust on a twisty road, but the GV70 has a more upscale cabin and more options for buyers not purely interested in performance.
Is the Audi SQ5 a reliable car?
J.D. Power hasn’t published customer satisfaction scores for the SQ5 recently. The Q5 on which its based received a reliability score of 75 points (out of a possible 100) for the 2023 model year, but didn’t crack the top five in its category for customer satisfaction.
Is the Audi SQ5 worth the cost?
The SQ5 makes sense for crossover owners who want a bit more performance. It’s more exciting to drive than the standard Q5, but is otherwise just another crossover. So if you just want a nice, practical car, the cheaper Q5 is the better option.
