The RS 6 Avant had previously been available in Europe since the early 2000s. Competitors include the Mercedes-AMG E63 (also available as a wagon) and the BMW M5.

Comparison: Is the Audi RS 6 Avant better than the BMW M5?

The BMW M5 is generally considered to be the gold standard of fast German luxury cars. Most reviewers would likely pick the BMW, which is also a couple of tenths of a second quicker than the Audi from zero to 60 mph. The RS 6 Avant has the added practicality of a wagon, though, and it’s not as common as an M5.

Is the Audi RS 6 Avant a reliable car?

The RS 6 Avant is too new and too low-volume to be on the radar of organizations that conduct reliability surveys. But you should expect a limited-production performance car like this to require more attention than a basic Q5 or A4.

Is the Audi RS 6 Avant worth the cost?

The RS 6 Avant is a six-figure car no matter how you configure it, and that money mostly buys performance that exceeds what you can safely deploy on the road, and very niche street credibility. Nobody needs a car like this, but the RS 6 Avant is a good choice for buyers willing to pay a premium for a distinctive performance car.
