What should I look for when buying a used Audi A6?

Across all model years, accident-free inventory is solid at 77.2% — always verify the vehicle history report.

Older model years carry meaningfully higher accident rates, so always verify the vehicle history report on pre-2020 models.

Key things to evaluate:

• Safety package: adaptive cruise control, forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, rear cross-traffic alert, blind-spot monitors, traffic-sign recognition, parking sensors, and lane-departure warning
• Infotainment: standard wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto
• Fuel efficiency: The A6’s EPA-rated 23 mpg combined (20 mpg city, 29 mpg highway) isn’t bad for a generously-proportioned sedan with a V6 and AWD.

Which Audi A6 trim should I buy?

The 2026 Audi A6 offers these trims:

• Premium: The base trim brings the turbocharged 3.0-liter V6, standard quattro all-wheel drive, a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission, and the standard 11.9-inch digital instrument cluster and 14.5-inch touchscreen. It suits you if you want the core A6 formula with the strongest value.
• Premium Plus: This trim adds a park-assist system, adaptive cruise assist with automated lane centering, and a 360-degree camera system.
• Prestige: The top trim adds adaptive air suspension and is the one that can be paired with the Sport Plus Package, which brings Audi’s sport rear differential, steel-spring suspension, rear-axle steering, and 21-inch wheels with summer tires.

What Audi A6 do most buyers choose?

The Audi A6 years with the most listings are 2018, 2025, and 2024.

Higher-volume years tend to be popular because they give you more inventory to compare, which can make it easier to find the right color, mileage, and equipment mix. They also often sit in the sweet spot between newer features and more approachable pricing.

What is the Audi A6's resale value?

Most Audi A6 model years are down year over year, and several recent years show especially sharp drops. That pattern can work in your favor if you’re shopping used, since it opens up more room to find a well-equipped car at a lower price than it carried a year ago. The smaller declines at the lower end of the table suggest some older examples are softening more gradually.

The 2015, 2023, and 2016 model years have held their value best, with the smallest year-over-year price changes.

Is the Audi A6 safe?

• 2026: 6/10
• 2019: 10/10

The 2026 A6 comes standard with adaptive cruise control, forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, rear cross-traffic alert, blind-spot monitors, traffic-sign recognition, parking sensors, and lane-departure warning.

For the safest used buy, the 2019 model posts the highest confirmed score of 10/10.

Should I buy a used Audi A6 now or wait for the next model?

Buy now if:

• Price trend: The 2025 model is at −14.55% versus a year ago, and the 2024 model is at −19.29%.
• Deal availability: The 2025 model has 33.3% good and great deals, and the 2024 model has 38.7%.
• Sweet-spot year: The 2018 model has the most listings at a current average price of $16,448. The Audi A6 offers a premium cabin, understated styling, and a comfortable long-distance character that make it easy to live with.

Consider waiting if:

• Powertrain/efficiency: The last engine standing is a turbocharged 3.0-liter V6, connected to a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission and standard quattro all-wheel drive (AWD), and it makes the same 362 horsepower and 406 pound-feet of torque here.
• Tech: This redesign brings the Digital Stage setup, with a standard 11.9-inch digital instrument cluster and 14.5-inch touchscreen, plus standard wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
• Safety: A park-assist system, adaptive cruise assist, and a 360-degree camera system are also standard on the Premium Plus and Prestige trim levels.
• Starting price: Pricing starts at $65,395 for the base A6 Premium.

If you're buying used today, the 2018 model year offers the best mix of value and availability. If you want the latest tech and features, it may be worth waiting for the next model year's inventory to build up.
