Customers say
The Audi A4 has consistently impressed drivers with its blend of performance, luxury, and technology across all model years. Owners particularly appreciate its handling, comfortable interiors, and advanced sound systems, making it a pleasure to drive. However, many have expressed concerns about high maintenance costs and limited cargo space. Why it stands out
The 2018 Audi A4 stands out as a well-rounded compact luxury sedan that blends strong technology, respectable performance, and everyday usability. It sits in the fifth and final generation of the A4, and by this point Audi had already made the car available with a broad range of trims and equipment. For buyers who value efficiency, the A4 Ultra’s 190-horsepower 2.0-liter turbocharged engine delivered 27 miles per gallon in the city, 37 mpg on the highway, and 31 mpg combined. Those wanting more punch could choose the more powerful 2.0-liter turbocharged engine rated at 252 horsepower and 273 pound-feet of torque. Quattro all-wheel drive remained optional, adding extra traction and broadening the car’s appeal in poor weather.
The 2018 A4 also distinguishes itself with a strong list of standard and available features. Even the base Premium trim included 17-inch wheels, forward collision mitigation, leather seats, a sunroof, a rearview camera, Audi Drive Select, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and the MMI infotainment system on a seven-inch screen. Higher trims added features such as LED headlights, a 19-speaker Bang & Olufsen audio system, a 12.3-inch Virtual Cockpit, and a larger 8.3-inch MMI screen, while the Prestige trim brought a head-up display and a surround-view camera system. That mix of technology and comfort helps explain why the A4 remained appealing to shoppers looking for a premium sedan that felt modern without being overly flashy.
There are a few tradeoffs to keep in mind. The A4’s base engines were described as underwhelming, and the back seat was cramped. Older models in the line also carried outdated technology, but the 2018 car benefits from the generation’s stronger equipment and the kind of balanced driving character that made owners praise its smooth handling and sporty feel.
