(8 reviews)Performance: For a 1976 1800 it delivered 104kw. Did about 195km/h speedo speed, hit 200 at 6 000 rpm(red line) in 5th in very very favourable conditions. Strong acceleration started in 3rd gear. Some of the best braking systems at the time with discs all around. Extremely good handling due to engine at front and gearbox/diff at rear on De Dion Axle. Very stable at high speeds. Good built quality - never rattled. Looks good even in today's standards - very characterful inside and out. Needed clutch replacement twice in 200 000km. Propshaft couplings very expensive. otherwise not troublesome. Fuel consumption about 7.7l/100km at 130 km/h on open road and 12.5l/100km in city traffic. Much fun to drive with sound of the twin cam motor and the barking sound of the two twin choke Dellorto Carburetors. The few V6's which were too fast for it only stayed in front till the first corner! At top speed it slowly pulled away from the first Gti's and kept up with the first 1800GsI's. What a companion!
Brisk acceleration, responsive if not touchy braking, go-kart like handling, and a fairly high top speed. Build quality left something to be desired, always needed repairs, repairs were always expensive. While beauty is always in the eye of the beholder this car was always viewed best from the front and side, the rear end was interesting to be kind. This car cost more to keep on the road than a new car payment on my first (new car) which was about $225.00 a month. A very temperamental vehicle to own and maintain. The car was a blast to drive, it delivered a driving experience like nothing I've driven since.
Very sophisticated Italian sedan, extremely luxury interior, high technical inovations like central placed rear brake discs for better weight distribution. DOHC 1600 double weber engine, easily up to 190 kph.
fun quirky car with a sound from heaven. has ANSA exhaust and just sounds so good that you forget all the troubles it has. not very fast, handles fair but so much fun due to the engine and sound. mine is not registered due to smog but soon i will have it on the road again.
know little about cars, have changed tires, battery's and once oil and some filters. always cleaning the interior and seats. sometimes the ground wires also .just love cars like this. maby someday ill get a newer model and have no problems .
