Is the 2027 Toyota Land Cruiser a good car?

Yes — you rate it 5/5, and the expert rating is 7.5/10. The standout strength is Look and feel at 9/10.

The 2027 Toyota Land Cruiser is a refined yet rugged SUV that can handle weekday commuting and weekend escapes with equal ease. Toyota kept changes limited for this model year, adding a new Inked paint color, available heated and ventilated rear seats, and an accessory high-mounted air intake. It also offers impressive off-road capability, comfortable seats, and easy-to-use technology, which helps give it broad appeal if you want a capable SUV without giving up everyday comfort.

The trade-offs are worth noting, though: it runs on premium gas, big water bottles do not fit in the cupholders, and the cargo area has a high, uneven load floor. Even so, a well-equipped Land Cruiser costs about the same as loaded examples of the Ford Bronco, Jeep Wrangler, and Toyota’s own 4Runner, and it likely holds its value better than the non-Toyota competition. Good and great deals account for 24.7% of listings.

Is the 2027 Toyota Land Cruiser reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The 2027 Toyota Land Cruiser is framed as a vehicle that likely holds its value better than the non-Toyota competition, and Toyota’s reputation for reliability is part of the value case here. Its hybrid powertrain is described as offering more than adequate oomph, and the SUV is presented as a refined, durable choice for commuting during the week and escaping the daily grind on weekends.

Toyota also includes five complimentary years of Service Connect, Safety Connect, and Remote Connect, which adds some ownership convenience. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that premium-fuel running costs and off-road-oriented hardware can make upkeep and day-to-day ownership less forgiving than a simpler SUV.

What should I look for when buying a used 2027 Toyota Land Cruiser?

Accident-free inventory is excellent at 97.7% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.

You should still run a history report and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the truck has seen trail use or heavy city mileage. Focus on wear items that can reveal how hard the SUV has been used, and pay close attention to the cabin, cargo area, and underbody condition.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The 1958 has round headlights and cloth seats, while the higher trim level gets rectangular lamps and standard artificial leather upholstery. The more expensive version also offers more colors and more features, so the 1958 is the one to scrutinize if you want the most basic setup.
• Powertrain: The Land Cruiser uses a turbocharged 2.4-liter four-cylinder hybrid system with 326 horsepower and 465 pound-feet of torque, an eight-speed automatic, full-time 4WD, and 6,000 pounds of towing capacity. It is tuned for strong low-speed torque and off-road use rather than quick acceleration.
• Safety package: Every Land Cruiser has Toyota Safety Sense 3.0, which includes high-beam assist, forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, front and rear parking sensors with automatic low-speed braking, adaptive cruise control, lane-departure warning, lane-keep assist, and lane-centering assist with automatic emergency stop capability. It also includes Proactive Driving Assist, blind-spot monitors with trailer coverage, rear cross-traffic alert, and safe-exit assist. The Premium Package adds lane-change assist, front cross-traffic alert, and Traffic Jam Assist.
• Infotainment: The 1958 gets a 7-inch digital driver display and an 8-inch touchscreen. The higher trim level upgrades to a 12.3-inch digital instrumentation panel and a 12.3-inch touchscreen, and the test vehicle added wireless Apple CarPlay, wireless Android Auto, wireless phone charging, and Toyota Connected Services.
• Fuel efficiency: The EPA says it should return 23 mpg combined on premium fuel.

Which 2027 Toyota Land Cruiser trim should I buy?

The 2027 Toyota Land Cruiser is offered in 2 trim levels: Land Cruiser 1958 and Land Cruiser.

Here's the short version:

• Land Cruiser 1958: This is the value play if you want the Land Cruiser experience at the lower starting price. It has the simpler 7-inch driver display and 8-inch touchscreen, cloth seats, and the more basic exterior treatment, so it makes the strongest case for buyers who care most about capability and price.
• Land Cruiser: This is the better choice if you want the more complete version of the SUV. It adds the larger 12.3-inch displays, standard artificial leather upholstery, more colors, more features, and optional upgrades, making it the best-value trim for most shoppers who want the fuller tech and comfort experience.

Toyota Safety Sense 3.0 is standard across the lineup, while the Premium Package adds lane-change assist, front cross-traffic alert, and Traffic Jam Assist.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2027 Toyota Land Cruiser?

Is the 2027 Toyota Land Cruiser safe?

The 2027 Toyota Land Cruiser earns four-star ratings in frontal crash and rollover, and five-star ratings in side-impact testing from NHTSA.

It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.

Every Land Cruiser has Toyota Safety Sense 3.0, which includes high-beam assist, forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, front and rear parking sensors with automatic low-speed braking, adaptive cruise control, lane-departure warning, lane-keep assist, and lane-centering assist with automatic emergency stop capability. It also includes Proactive Driving Assist, blind-spot monitors with trailer coverage, rear cross-traffic alert, and safe-exit assist.

The Premium Package adds lane-change assist, front cross-traffic alert, and Traffic Jam Assist. One caveat is that the lane-centering assist can feel overly intrusive, and the IIHS results include some Acceptable and Marginal scores, including a Marginal result in the updated moderate overlap frontal impact test and a Marginal headlight result for the rectangular lamps on the more expensive model.

Should I buy a 2027 Toyota Land Cruiser or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2027 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2027 if:

• 24.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is excellent at 97.7% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• Toyota kept changes limited for 2027, adding a new Inked paint color, available heated and ventilated rear seats, and an accessory high-mounted air intake.

The bottom line: If you want the newest version with the updated color and equipment tweaks, the 2027 is the straightforward pick. If you are shopping mainly on price, a nearby model year may make more sense, especially if you can find a cleaner example with the equipment you want at a lower asking price.
