Why it stands out

The 2027 BMW X7 stands out as BMW’s full-size, three-row flagship SUV, giving buyers a luxurious alternative in a segment where space and comfort matter. It is built on the same Cluster Architecture platform as the X5, but it is only available with all-wheel drive, and it is nearly a foot longer than the X5, which helps make the rear seats more usable and adds cargo space. The X7 also comes with a standard second-row bench seat, though captain’s chairs can be ordered.

For 2027, the X7 xDrive40i starts at $89,050, including destination, and the X7 M60i starts at $115,000. The model’s appeal is rooted in its long list of standard and available luxury features, including self-leveling air suspension, four-zone climate control, Sensafin synthetic leather upholstery, adaptive LED headlights, BMW’s iDrive infotainment and connectivity system, blind-spot monitoring, lane departure warning, front and rear collision warning, wireless charging, a heated third-row seat, and adaptive cruise control with a hands-free option. Buyers looking for more upscale touches can also find heated-and-cooled cup holders, gesture control, massaging seats, a panoramic sunroof, LED light patterns, laser headlights, a 360-degree surround-view camera, a head-up display, and the Driving Assistance Professional system.

The X7’s strengths are matched by a few compromises. Its cabin is praised for being very comfortable and quiet, and the SUV offers powerful engines, but the third row is relatively small and the technology can be unintuitive. Its design is also polarizing, which means the X7 is best suited to shoppers who value luxury, presence, and equipment over maximum practicality or universally appealing styling.
