Used 2027 BMW X5 for Sale nearPleasantville, NJ

Is the 2027 BMW X5 a good car?

The 2027 BMW X5 earns a 7.2/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Performance at 9/10.

The redesigned X5 is aimed at you if you want a premium family SUV with a driver-focused feel, and BMW backs that up with a thorough redesign, a longer wheelbase, and a cabin that leans hard into new technology. The interior step forward is a major part of the appeal, with a large central touchscreen, Panoramic Vision display, and standard wireless smartphone integration.

The trade-offs are real, though. Cargo space takes a step backward, and the number of software features can feel overwhelming. The design is also more distinctive than before, which may not suit every buyer.

With 35.4% of listings priced as good or great deals, the market gives you some room to shop carefully.

Is the 2027 BMW X5 reliable?

The 2027 BMW X5 is presented as a redesigned luxury SUV with a strong focus on efficiency, refinement, and road manners. BMW pairs the turbocharged inline-six with a 48-volt mild-hybrid system to help reduce fuel consumption, and the plug-in hybrid adds electric driving capability for shorter trips.

The cabin and chassis are tuned for everyday usability, with standard adaptive damping and a quiet, comfortable ride. BMW also says the plug-in hybrid can travel 44 miles on electric power, which can help reduce fuel use if you can charge regularly.

For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is that this is a first-year redesign with a lot of new technology, so you should expect to be especially careful about software behavior and option complexity.

What should I look for when buying a used 2027 BMW X5?

Accident-free inventory is excellent at 97.6% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.

You should still run a history report and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially on a first-year redesign with a heavy tech load. Focus on how the screens, voice controls, driver-assistance systems, and optional equipment work in real use, and make sure the vehicle’s condition matches its premium positioning.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base model emphasizes the new design and tech, while available packages add sportier exterior details, upgraded wheels, and more upscale cabin materials. If you want the best balance of equipment and value, focus on the trim that gives you the features you’ll actually use without piling on too many extras.
• Powertrain: You can choose between a turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-six with a 48-volt mild-hybrid system and a plug-in hybrid that combines that engine with an electric motor. The inline-six is tuned for efficiency and smoothness, while the plug-in hybrid adds stronger output and electric-only driving.
• Safety package: Standard driver-assistance features include lane-keep assist, blind-spot monitors, cross-traffic alert, forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, evasive-steering assist, adaptive cruise control, automated lane centering, and safe-exit assist. Highway Assistant is available, along with park-assist features such as a surround-view camera system and automated parking functions.
• Infotainment: The cabin centers on a 17.9-inch touchscreen, with a windshield-wide Panoramic Vision display and an optional 14.6-inch passenger screen. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard, and over-the-air software capability is part of the new tech-heavy setup.
• Fuel efficiency: The AWD 40 xDrive is rated at 26 mpg combined (24 mpg city, 28 mpg highway), and the plug-in hybrid is estimated to travel 44 miles on electric power.

Which 2027 BMW X5 trim should I buy?

The 2027 BMW X5 is offered in 3 trim levels: X5 40, X5 40 xDrive, and X5 50e xDrive.

Here's the short version:

• X5 40: This is the least expensive way into the redesigned X5, and it gives you the new styling, the inline-six powertrain, and the core luxury-tech experience without moving up to the pricier electrified model.
• X5 40 xDrive: This is the best-value choice for most shoppers because it adds all-wheel drive and keeps the same smooth inline-six setup while staying below the plug-in hybrid in price.
• X5 50e xDrive: Choose this if you want the strongest output and the ability to drive on electric power for short trips, along with the most advanced powertrain in the lineup.

BMW also offers safety and parking tech that can be added or expanded depending on configuration, so it’s worth checking the exact equipment list on any used example.

Should I buy a 2027 BMW X5 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2027 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2027 if:

• 35.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is excellent at 97.6% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
• The redesigned X5 brings BMW’s Neue Klasse styling and a major tech overhaul.

Consider the 2026 if:

• It offers five versions and a broader spread of choices from efficiency to performance.

The bottom line: If you want the newest X5 design, the latest cabin tech, and a strong used-market selection, the 2027 is the better path. If you’re more price-sensitive and want a wider range of established trims, the 2026 is worth a look.
