Used 2027 BMW X5 for Sale nearPeru, IL

Is the 2027 BMW X5 a good car?

The 2027 BMW X5 earns an expert rating of 7.2/10. The standout strength is Performance at 9/10.

The redesign gives you a midsize crossover that feels thoroughly updated, with great handling, a comfortable ride, and a standout interior that blends modern design with useful functionality. It also brings very different styling and tech features, so you get a more distinctive take on the X5 than before.

The trade-offs are real: the design may be polarizing, the software load can feel overwhelming, and cargo space takes a step backward. Even so, if you want driving dynamics, comfort, and a premium cabin, this looks like a strong fit.

Good and great deals account for 32.4% of listings.

Is the 2027 BMW X5 reliable?

The 2027 X5 is presented as a thoroughly redesigned model with a smooth inline-six, a 48-volt mild-hybrid system, and BMW’s efficiency-focused Miller-cycle tuning on the 40 models. That setup is aimed at reducing fuel consumption while keeping output strong, and the cabin and chassis tuning suggest a vehicle built for long-distance comfort as much as pace.

BMW also says the plug-in hybrid can travel 44 miles on electric power, which helps if you can charge regularly. The first scheduled maintenance visit is on the house, which is a useful ownership perk if you’re comparing long-term running costs.

For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that this is a heavily redesigned, software-rich SUV, so you should be especially attentive to electronics, feature operation, and overall condition.

What should I look for when buying a used 2027 BMW X5?

Accident-free inventory is excellent at 97.2% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.

You should still run a history report and verify that the specific vehicle you’re considering has a clean record and consistent service history. Because this X5 leans heavily on software and driver-assistance tech, a careful test drive should include checking every screen, control, and assistance feature you plan to use. Pay extra attention to cabin condition and cargo-area usability, since the redesign trades some practicality for style and tech.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base X5 40 gives you the redesigned cabin and core luxury feel, while the X5 40 xDrive adds all-wheel drive and the X5 50e xDrive adds plug-in hybrid capability. The base model is the value play if you want the new design at the lowest entry price.
• Powertrain: The 40 models use a turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-six with a 48-volt mild-hybrid system and an eight-speed automatic. The 50e xDrive adds an electric motor and battery for stronger total output and short-distance electric driving.
• Safety package: Standard equipment includes lane-keep assist, blind-spot monitors, cross-traffic alert, forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, evasive-steering assist, adaptive cruise control, automated lane centering, and safe-exit assist. Highway Assistant is available for hands-free driving on certain highways, and park-assist features can add a surround-view camera system, Maneuver Assistant, and semi-automated parking.
• Infotainment: The cabin centers on a 17.9-inch touchscreen paired with Panoramic Vision display technology, and there’s an optional 14.6-inch front-passenger screen. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are supported, and over-the-air software capability is built into the system.
• Fuel efficiency: The AWD 40 xDrive is rated at 26 mpg combined (24 mpg city, 28 mpg highway), and BMW estimates 44 miles of electric range for the 50e xDrive.

Which 2027 BMW X5 trim should I buy?

The 2027 BMW X5 is offered in 3 trim levels: X5 40, X5 40 xDrive, X5 50e xDrive.

Here's the short version:

• X5 40: This is the entry point if you want the redesigned X5 at the lowest price. It gives you the new styling, the updated cabin, and the core inline-six powertrain without paying for extra drivetrain hardware.
• X5 40 xDrive: This is the best-value trim for most shoppers because it adds all-wheel drive and keeps the same strong balance of performance, comfort, and efficiency. If you want the broadest appeal without stepping into plug-in-hybrid pricing, this is the one to target.
• X5 50e xDrive: Choose this if you want the plug-in hybrid setup, stronger total output, and the ability to drive on electric power for short trips. It’s the right pick if charging at home or work matters to you.

The standard safety package is broad, and Highway Assistant plus the park-assist features are available if you want more automation.

The X5 comes standard with typical driver-assistance features such as lane-keep assist, blind-spot monitors, cross-traffic alert, forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, evasive-steering assist, adaptive cruise control, automated lane centering, and safe-exit assist that can prevent doors from opening when traffic or cyclists are approaching.

BMW’s Symbiotic Drive software is new for 2027 and is designed to let the driver keep making inputs while the systems are active instead of fighting them. Highway Assistant is available for hands-free driving at speeds up to 85 mph on certain highways, and the available park-assist suite adds a surround-view camera system, Maneuver Assistant, and semi-automated parking.

Should I buy a 2027 BMW X5 or consider a different year?

• Accident-free inventory is excellent at 97.2% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
• The redesign brings a thoroughly updated cabin, strong handling, and a more distinctive tech-forward interior.
