New & Used 2026 Toyota bZ for Sale nearNew Bern, NC

Is the 2026 Toyota bZ a good car?

The 2026 Toyota bZ earns a 6.5/10 expert rating, and Toyota has improved the formula in several meaningful ways while keeping the price comparatively affordable. The standout strength is Cost effectiveness at 8/10.

It now offers more power, over 300 miles of range, a standard NACS charging port with a CCS adapter, and Plug & Charge capability, which directly address some of the biggest concerns shoppers had with the earlier version. Toyota also shortened the name for 2026 and cleaned up the styling inside and out, giving the bZ a more modern feel.

The trade-offs are still real: the driver display is poor, and the driver monitoring system is irritating. Even so, the bZ feels genuinely competitive for you if you want an EV that is easy to live with and not overly expensive.

Good and great deals account for 46.3% of listings, which suggests there’s meaningful market availability for shoppers who want to compare prices.

Is the 2026 Toyota bZ reliable?

The 2026 Toyota bZ is presented as a low-cost-of-ownership EV with free scheduled maintenance for two years or 25,000 miles, which helps support its appeal for long-term ownership. Toyota also describes it as easy to live with, and the expert evaluation emphasizes that the refreshed model fixes several of the earlier version’s biggest shortcomings.

The performance notes point to a straightforward electric setup with a single motor in FWD models and dual motors in AWD versions, plus predictable charging behavior at home and on DC fast chargers. Toyota says the larger battery can recharge from 10% to 100% in seven hours on a 240-volt, 48-amp Level 2 charger, while DC fast charging from 10% to 80% takes about 30 minutes on a 150-kW charger.

For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is less about the powertrain and more about living with the bZ’s weaker driver-display and driver-monitoring setup over time.

What should I look for when buying a used 2026 Toyota bZ?

Accident-free inventory is excellent at 98.4% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.

You should still run a history report and verify that the vehicle’s charging equipment, software behavior, and interior condition match the seller’s description. Prioritize a test drive that lets you evaluate visibility, screen readability, and how the driver-assist systems behave in real traffic. Because this is an EV, battery condition and charging habits matter just as much as cosmetic wear.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The XLE and Limited trims differ in equipment, with the Limited adding more convenience and driver-assist content. The base setup is already well equipped, but the higher trim brings more advanced features.
• Powertrain: You can get a single-motor FWD setup or a dual-motor AWD setup, and the larger battery brings more power and range. The FWD version is the simpler choice, while AWD adds traction and stronger output.
• Safety package: Toyota Safety Sense 3.0 is standard and includes high-beam assist, forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keep assist, lane-centering assist, adaptive cruise control, and Proactive Driving Assist. Standard blind-spot monitors, rear cross-traffic alert, safe-exit assist, and front and rear parking sensors with automatic low-speed braking are also included. The Limited trim adds Traffic Jam Assist, lane-change assist, front cross-traffic assist, and Advanced Park Assist.
• Infotainment: A 14-inch touchscreen is standard, along with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The system also supports connected services and native navigation through Drive Connect.
• Range & charging: The larger battery delivers an EPA-estimated 314 miles of range in XLE FWD form, and DC fast charging from 10% to 80% takes about 30 minutes on a 150-kW charger. Toyota says the larger battery can recharge from 10% to 100% in seven hours on a 240-volt, 48-amp Level 2 charger.
• Battery health: For a used EV, you should ask about battery state-of-health, typical charging habits, and whether the car has spent most of its life on home charging or frequent DC fast charging. You should also confirm how much of the battery warranty remains and review charging performance during a test drive.

Which 2026 Toyota bZ trim should I buy?

The 2026 Toyota bZ is offered in 2 trim levels: XLE and Limited.

Here's the short version:

• XLE: This is the value play if you want the bZ’s core strengths without paying for extra convenience features. It gives you the standard equipment, and with the larger battery it becomes the XLE Plus, which is the version that delivers the strongest range and the best overall value.
• Limited: This is the better choice if you want the most advanced driver-assist and convenience content, including Traffic Jam Assist, lane-change assist, front cross-traffic assist, and Advanced Park Assist. It also comes with the larger battery standard.

Toyota Safety Sense 3.0 is standard on every trim, and the Limited adds the most advanced safety and parking features.

Toyota Safety Sense 3.0 is standard on every 2026 bZ. It includes high-beam assist, forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keep assist, lane-centering assist, and adaptive cruise control. Proactive Driving Assist is also standard, and the bZ adds blind-spot monitors, rear cross-traffic alert, safe-exit assist, and front and rear parking sensors with automatic low-speed braking.

The Limited trim adds Traffic Jam Assist, lane-change assist, front cross-traffic assist, and Advanced Park Assist. The driver monitoring system is overly sensitive, and the adaptive cruise control can react inconsistently in heavier traffic.

Should I buy a 2026 Toyota bZ or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2026 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2026 if:

• 46.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is excellent at 98.4% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
• Toyota’s refresh gives you more power, over 300 miles of range, a standard NACS charging port with a CCS adapter, Plug & Charge capability, and a cleaner interior and exterior design.

The bottom line: If you want the strongest version of this EV so far, the 2026 is the one to target because it corrects many of the earlier model’s biggest weaknesses while staying comparatively affordable. If you’re especially price-sensitive, you should still compare listings carefully and focus on the best-equipped XLE or XLE Plus examples, since they deliver the most compelling mix of range and value.
