CarGurus Analysis: 2026 Toyota Corolla
Summary
With 4,999 currently listed for sale and an average price of $24,748, 38.8% of 2026 Toyota Corollas for sale on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favorably reviewed: Owners rated the 2026 Toyota Corolla 5 / 5 stars.
88.6% of 2026 Corolla models on CarGurus are accident free.
Why it stands out
The 2026 Toyota Corolla stands out because it combines broad appeal with a long-running reputation for dependability. Toyota gives this generation a wider model range than its predecessor, and the car is offered as a sedan or hatchback, with a hybrid sedan and a GR Corolla hatchback also in the mix. It is also one of the few compact cars that can feel both sensible and a little more distinctive, thanks to sharp styling details such as arrow-shaped headlamps, balanced proportions, and sculpted sides. The hybrid’s 121 combined horsepower and 52 mpg combined fuel economy make it especially appealing for buyers who want efficiency without giving up the Corolla’s easygoing character.
This generation has also been updated steadily. For the 2023 model year, Toyota added fresh bumper designs, an eight-inch touchscreen display, climate control, and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support for all models. That same update brought the base gas engine up to the more powerful 2.0-liter unit, so all gas Corollas shared the same engine, and the hybrid gained more power as well. For 2024, Toyota brought back the Nightshade Edition with black exterior badging and bronze 18-inch wheels, while wireless phone charging became standard on certain sedans and hatchbacks. In 2025, Toyota introduced the FX Special Edition, and for 2026 a 7.0-inch gauge cluster became standard, with blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert now standard across all trims.
The Corolla’s appeal is reinforced by its reputation for durability and low ownership stress. The latest Corolla was the top-rated compact car in the J.D. Power 2025 U.S. Vehicle Dependability Study, and Toyota was named the top brand for reliability in the 2025 Consumer Reports Annual Auto Survey. At the same time, it remains a practical choice rather than an especially exciting one, and the buying guide notes that some versions are very bland and that interiors are basic in older models. Even so, the 2026 Corolla’s mix of efficiency, standard safety equipment, and broad trim and body-style choice makes it one of the most rational compact cars on sale.
