New & Used 2026 Nissan Frontier for Sale near Metropolis, IL

Is the 2026 Nissan Frontier a good car?

Yes — you rate it 5/5, and CarGurus experts rate it 6.00/10. The model scores 8/10 across Look and feel and Performance.

The 2026 Nissan Frontier is a traditional midsize pickup that leans into old-school truck character rather than chasing the newest trends. It feels solid, simple, and quality-minded, and it drives more like a conventional truck than many rivals. For you, that means it makes the most sense if you want a straightforward pickup with a strong V6, a comfortable driver’s seat, and a useful towing rating.

The trade-offs are real: the back seat is cramped, the technology is dated, and the payload rating is low. The expert verdict also points to an obtuse digital assistant and a concerning crash-test rating as reasons to look elsewhere if those issues matter most to you.

With 28.4% of listings priced as good or great deals, the market gives you some room to shop carefully.

Is the 2026 Nissan Frontier reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction. The Frontier’s appeal comes from its simple, durable-feeling design, its body-on-frame construction, and its familiar V6 powertrain. It feels like a truck built to do truck things without a lot of complexity, which can be reassuring if you want something straightforward to own.

The performance notes reinforce that impression: the V6 is described as refined, strong off the line, and good-sounding under acceleration. Nissan also highlights a sense of solidity, quality, and durability in the truck’s overall character.

For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is that the Frontier’s age shows up in its outdated tech and some of its rougher edges, so condition and maintenance history matter more than chasing the newest features.

What should I look for when buying a used 2026 Nissan Frontier?

Accident-free inventory is excellent at 95.2% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.

You should still run a vehicle history report and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if you’re considering a truck that may have seen towing, hauling, or off-road use. Focus on cabin wear, suspension condition, and how the truck drives over rough pavement, since the Frontier’s ride and steering feel are part of its old-school character.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The S, SV, Pro-X, and Pro-4X each bring different equipment levels, and the base S is the most stripped-down choice. The Pro-4X stands out with rugged visual cues and off-road-oriented hardware, while the SV can be upgraded with packages that add comfort and appearance features.
• Powertrain: The Frontier uses a 3.8-liter V6 with 310 horsepower and 281 pound-feet of torque paired with a nine-speed automatic. It is tuned for strong low-end response and feels powerful in daily driving.
• Safety package: Standard equipment includes automatic high-beam headlights, adaptive cruise control, forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, blind-spot monitors, rear cross-traffic alert, reverse automatic braking, and rear parking sensors. The Pro Convenience Package adds a surround-view camera system with moving object detection and an off-road camera mode.
• Infotainment: The truck has a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system, wireless Apple CarPlay, wireless Android Auto, SiriusXM satellite radio, and NissanConnect connected services with Wi-Fi hotspot access. A wireless smartphone charger is part of the Pro Convenience Package, and the Pro Premium Package adds door-to-door navigation and a 10-speaker Fender audio system.
• Fuel efficiency: The Pro-4X averaged 18.3 mpg on the test loop, and other Frontier models are rated at 19 mpg combined with 4WD and 21 mpg combined with RWD.

Which 2026 Nissan Frontier trim should I buy?

The 2026 Nissan Frontier is offered in 4 trim levels: S, SV, Pro-X, and Pro-4X.

Here's the short version:

• S: This is the entry point, and it’s the only trim offered in both King Cab and crew-cab body styles. It makes the most sense if you want the Frontier’s basic truck character at the lowest price, but you give up the extra comfort and convenience features found higher up.
• SV: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds more flexibility and can be equipped with the new Dark Armor package or the All-Weather Package. The All-Weather Package brings dual-zone automatic climate control, remote-engine start, heated front seats, and a heated steering wheel.
• Pro-X: This trim is the step up if you want a more rugged look and a richer feature set without going all the way to the off-road-focused model. It sits above the SV and is aimed at buyers who want more presence and equipment.
• Pro-4X: This is the off-road-oriented choice, with standard 4WD, all-terrain tires, Bilstein off-road shocks, an electronic locking rear differential, front and underbody skid plates, and a Terrain mode selector. It also gets the All-Weather Package content as standard.

The Pro-4X is the trim we tested, and it’s the one to choose if you want the Frontier’s most capable hardware. The safety package is broad across the lineup, but the Pro Convenience Package adds the surround-view camera system and off-road camera mode.

Is the 2026 Nissan Frontier safe?

The 2026 Frontier earns a four-star overall rating from NHTSA, with five-star side-crash ratings, a three-star rollover rating, and a three-star front-crash rating. The IIHS gives it a mix of “Good” and “Acceptable” ratings.

It earns a 4/10 safety score from our experts.

The standard driver-assistance list is solid and includes automatic high-beam headlights, adaptive cruise control, forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, blind-spot monitors, rear cross-traffic alert, reverse automatic braking, and rear parking sensors. The Pro Convenience Package adds a surround-view camera system with moving object detection and an off-road camera mode.

A key caveat is that Nissan’s ProPilot Assist highway driving aid is unavailable, and the IIHS had not released results for the tougher small-overlap frontal-impact test at the time of writing.

Should I buy a 2026 Nissan Frontier or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2026 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2026 if:

• 28.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is excellent at 95.2% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• Nissan adds extra standard equipment for some models and new option packages this year.

Consider the 2025 if:

• It brings more standard safety features and a newer 12.3-inch touchscreen.

The bottom line: The 2026 Frontier is the better pick if you want the latest equipment updates and the same strong V6-driven character. If you’re shopping mainly on price, the 2025 is worth a look because it already captures much of the Frontier’s core appeal while potentially costing less.
