New & Used 2026 Mercedes-Benz SL-Class for Sale nearSusanville, CA

Is the 2026 Mercedes-Benz SL-Class a good car?

The 2026 Mercedes-Benz SL-Class earns an expert rating of 7.5/10. The model scores 9/10 across Look and feel and Performance.

It’s a luxurious convertible that’s easy to live with, and Mercedes positions it as a premium open-top car with broad appeal for buyers who want style, comfort, and a wide range of powertrain choices. The SL’s strengths include its stylish design and comfortable ride, while the current-generation layout also keeps the car focused on top-down driving.

The trade-offs are real, though: the transmission can be irritating, and the lack of physical controls may frustrate you if you prefer simpler cabin ergonomics. Even so, the lineup’s breadth and the car’s upscale character make it a compelling choice in a segment with limited alternatives.

Good and great deals account for 28.6% of listings, which suggests there’s still some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2026 Mercedes-Benz SL-Class reliable?

The 2026 Mercedes-Benz SL-Class is presented as a premium, easy-to-live-with convertible, and the expert review emphasizes its polished road manners and strong overall execution. The Maybach version in particular is described as flowing effortlessly through corners while erasing bumps and road imperfections, which points to a well-sorted chassis and a car that should feel composed in daily use.

The review also notes that Mercedes’ voice-recognition system is fairly reliable, and the standard driver-assistance suite is broad for a low-volume luxury model. On the ownership side, the lineup includes a first-time Maybach variant and a range of complex powertrains, so long-term ownership risk for used buyers is likely tied more to the car’s sophistication than to any single obvious flaw.

What should I look for when buying a used 2026 Mercedes-Benz SL-Class?

Accident-free inventory is excellent at 98.8% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.

You should still run a history report and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially because this is a high-end convertible with complex electronics, multiple powertrain choices, and a control-heavy cabin. Pay close attention to how the transmission behaves off the line, whether the infotainment and driver-assistance systems work cleanly, and whether the car’s ride and cabin trim feel consistent with the condition you expect at this price point.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The lineup spans SL 43, SL 55, SL 63, SL 63 S E Performance, and Maybach SL 680 Monogram Series. The base SL 43 is the entry point, while the Maybach model adds the most luxury-focused presentation and is the best-value choice if you want the most complete experience without building the car up through options.
• Powertrain: The SL 43 uses a 2.0-liter turbocharged inline-four, the SL 55 and SL 63 use a twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V8, and the SL 63 S E Performance pairs that V8 with a plug-in hybrid system for the most extreme output. The Maybach SL 680 uses the 577-hp engine and AWD like the SL 63, but with comfort-focused tuning.
• Safety package: Standard equipment includes automatic emergency braking, forward-collision warning, blind spot monitors, safe-exit assist, lane-keep assist, parking assist, Pre-Safe, and a surround-view camera. Adaptive cruise control is optional, and some steering-assist and traffic-sign recognition features are also available.
• Infotainment: You get a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and an 11.9-inch touchscreen, plus wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The system also supports natural-language voice recognition, and optional features include augmented reality navigation and a head-up display.
• Fuel efficiency: The SL 43 is rated at 22 mpg combined, while the V8 models are rated at 16 mpg combined. Mercedes estimates 29 mpg combined for the SL 63 S E Performance plug-in hybrid.

Which 2026 Mercedes-Benz SL-Class trim should I buy?

The 2026 Mercedes-Benz SL-Class is offered in 5 trim levels: SL 43, SL 55, SL 63, SL 63 S E Performance, and Maybach SL 680 Monogram Series.

Here’s the short version:

• SL 43: This is the entry point and the only version that significantly undercuts the Porsche 911 Carrera Cabriolet on price. It’s the one to consider if you want the SL experience with the lowest starting cost and the best fuel economy in the lineup.
• SL 55: This adds V8 power and AWD, making it the first step up if you want stronger performance without jumping all the way to the most expensive models.
• SL 63: This is the more powerful V8 choice, and it suits you if you want the classic SL formula with more urgency and don’t need the hybrid system.
• SL 63 S E Performance: This is the performance flagship, with 805 hp, the quickest acceleration, carbon-ceramic brakes, rear-axle steering, and an active anti-roll system. It’s the one for maximum speed and track-minded buyers.
• Maybach SL 680 Monogram Series: This is the best-value trim if you want the richest luxury experience. It combines the 577-hp engine, AWD, rear-axle steering, and an active anti-roll system with softer suspension tuning and Maybach-specific luxury details.

The safety package is broad across the lineup, but adaptive cruise control remains optional.

Is the 2026 Mercedes-Benz SL-Class safe?

It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.

Standard driver-assistance features include automatic emergency braking, forward-collision warning, blind spot monitors, safe-exit assist, lane-keep assist, parking assist, Pre-Safe, and a surround-view camera. Adaptive cruise control is optional, and it adds stop-and-go capability plus automatic speed-limit adjustment. There are also steering-assist features for evasive maneuvers and lane changes, along with traffic-sign recognition.

One caveat is that the standard surround-view camera’s default 3D view is described as badly distorted, though a 2D view is available and more usable.

Should I buy a 2026 Mercedes-Benz SL-Class or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2026 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2026 if:

• 28.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is excellent at 98.8% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
• The 2026 lineup adds the ultra-luxury Maybach SL 680 Monogram Series, giving you a new top-end option that broadens the car’s appeal.

The bottom line: If you want the most current SL lineup and the added appeal of the Maybach model, the 2026 is the one to target. If you’re more price-sensitive, a nearby model year may still make sense, but the 2026 gives you the freshest mix of luxury, performance, and lineup breadth.
