New & Used 2026 Lexus IS for Sale nearBloomington, IN

Is the 2026 Lexus IS a good car?

The 2026 Lexus IS earns an expert rating of 6.83/10. The standout strength is Performance at 8/10.

That score lines up with what you get in the updated IS: a refreshed cabin and exterior, the latest digital instrumentation and infotainment, and re-tuned steering and suspension that help the sedan feel more modern without losing its sports-sedan character. The available V6-powered IS 350 is described as enjoyable to drive and high in quality, and the model’s long-standing reliability reputation remains part of the appeal.

The trade-offs are real, though. The lineup is now simplified to the IS 350, and the car is held back by poor fuel economy and limited cargo space. Safety ratings are also incomplete, which matters if you want a fully validated family sedan.

With 36.8% of listings priced as good or great deals, the market gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2026 Lexus IS reliable?

The 2026 Lexus IS is presented as a strong reliability play, with the model’s long-standing reputation for reliability called out alongside its premium materials and refined driving character. The updated IS 350 is also described as a car that should last a long time with proper maintenance and not require many repairs.

The performance side supports that impression: the V6 is described as smooth and refined, the transmission does its job well, and the chassis shows an uncanny amount of structural rigidity for an older architecture. Lexus also includes two complimentary scheduled maintenance visits, though both happen during the first year of ownership.

For used buyers, the long-term ownership risk is more about running costs than durability, since fuel bills can be high and the car’s age means you should still budget for normal wear items.

What should I look for when buying a used 2026 Lexus IS?

Accident-free inventory is excellent at 92.4% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.

You should still run a history report and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if you’re looking at a higher-mileage example or one with optional equipment. Focus on overall condition, tire wear, brake feel, and whether the car’s electronics and driver-assistance features work as intended.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: Three trim levels are available, all wearing F Sport nomenclature. The F Sport Design is the least expensive, while the F Sport sharpens the focus on performance and offers an optional Handling Package. A limited-production run of F Sport Special Appearance Package models is also available. The base trim is the one most likely to leave you wanting more equipment, since the test vehicle’s highlights included the Handling Package, the Technology Package, triple-beam LED headlights, surround-view camera system, parking-assistance tech, a Mark Levinson audio system, and a power sunroof.
• Powertrain: The IS 350 uses a 3.5-liter V6 with 311 horsepower and 280 pound-feet of torque. RWD models use an eight-speed automatic, while AWD models use a six-speed automatic. The engine is smooth and refined, and the car is quick rather than outright fast.
• Safety package: Lexus Safety System+ 3.0 is standard, and it includes adaptive cruise control, forward-collision warning, pedestrian/cyclist/motorcyclist detection, automatic emergency braking, intersection/oncoming vehicle assist, lane-departure warning, lane-keep assist, lane-centering assist, evasive steering assist, traffic-sign recognition, and high-beam assist. Blind-spot monitors, rear cross-traffic alert, and a safe-exit warning system are also standard. Optional upgrades include a surround-view camera system, parking assistance with automatic braking, rear cross-traffic automatic braking, and Traffic Jam Assist.
• Infotainment: The cabin gets two 12.3-inch displays, including a 12.3-inch touchscreen with the latest Lexus Interface software. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard, and the system also supports connected services such as navigation, remote start, and an SOS emergency button depending on the plan.
• Fuel efficiency: The IS 350 is EPA-rated at 22 mpg combined. Lexus recommends premium fuel for the V6 engine.

Which 2026 Lexus IS trim should I buy?

The 2026 Lexus IS is offered in 3 trim levels: F Sport Design, F Sport, and F Sport Special Appearance Package.

Here's the short version:

• F Sport Design: This is the entry point, and it makes sense if you want the updated IS 350 experience at the lowest price. It gives you the core V6-powered sedan without the extra performance hardware of the higher trim.
• F Sport: This is the best-value trim for most shoppers. It adds a firmer suspension, and it’s the only trim that can be paired with the optional Handling Package, which brings a limited-slip rear differential, a performance-tuned adaptive suspension, and additional driving modes. If you want the most complete balance of driving enjoyment and equipment, this is the one to target.
• F Sport Special Appearance Package: Choose this if you care most about exclusivity and appearance. It’s a limited-production model, so it’s more about standing out than adding a fundamentally different driving experience.

Lexus Safety System+ 3.0 is standard across the lineup, so you don’t need to move up a trim just to get the core driver-assistance suite.

Is the 2026 Lexus IS safe?

The 2026 Lexus IS has incomplete safety ratings, with the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety publishing only partial results and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration not having published ratings at the time of writing.

It earns a 6/10 safety score from our experts.

Lexus Safety System+ 3.0 is standard, and it includes adaptive cruise control, forward-collision warning, pedestrian/cyclist/motorcyclist detection, automatic emergency braking, intersection/oncoming vehicle assist, lane-departure warning, lane-keep assist, lane-centering assist, evasive steering assist, traffic-sign recognition, and high-beam assist. Blind-spot monitors, rear cross-traffic alert, and a safe-exit warning system are also standard.

The system is generally smooth and predictable, and the hands-on-detection steering wheel makes long-distance driving more pleasant. The optional Technology Package adds lane-change assist and front cross-traffic alert. A caveat to keep in mind is that Proactive Driving Assist and the automatic speed reduction feature may feel intrusive to some drivers.

Should I buy a 2026 Lexus IS or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2026 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2026 if:

• 36.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is excellent at 92.4% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
• Lexus refreshed the IS for 2026 with the latest digital instrumentation, infotainment, and driver-assistance technologies, while also updating the exterior and interior and re-tuning the steering and suspension.

The bottom line: If you want the most modern version of the IS with the strongest blend of driving enjoyment, premium feel, and reliability reputation, the 2026 model is the one to focus on. If your priority is simply paying less, a nearby model year may be worth a look, but you’ll be giving up some of the 2026 refresh and its updated tech.
