New & Used 2026 Kia Sportage for Sale nearMadison, SD

How much does the 2026 Kia Sportage cost?

Prices have softened 13.22% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 2,065 listings available, which suggests solid inventory for shoppers comparing trims and prices.

Is the 2026 Kia Sportage a good car?

The 2026 Kia Sportage earns an expert rating of 7.33/10.

The standout strength is Safety at 10/10.

You’re looking at a compact crossover that emphasizes stylish design, impressive technology, and strong safety ratings. The trade-offs are clear: performance is fairly pedestrian, and the X-Pro Prestige version does not fully deliver on Kia’s usual value reputation. For you, that means the Sportage makes the most sense if you want a practical, polished crossover rather than something tuned for excitement.

Good and great deals account for 39.3% of listings, which gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2026 Kia Sportage reliable?

The 2026 Kia Sportage is presented as a long-running nameplate with a current-generation platform that has continued to evolve, and the model’s overall positioning leans on competence, strong safety, and broad everyday usefulness. The expert assessment also points to a well-rounded crossover rather than a high-strung one, which generally supports a calmer ownership experience.

From a durability and day-to-day-use standpoint, the non-hybrid 2.5-liter four-cylinder is described as doing just fine, and the hybrid and plug-in hybrid powertrains are noted as more refined. The Sportage’s 10-year/100,000-mile powertrain warranty and five-year/60,000-mile limited warranty are also a meaningful ownership perk.

For long-term used-car ownership, your biggest risk is less about outright fragility and more about choosing the right trim and powertrain for your needs, since the pricier versions can dilute the value equation.

What should I look for when buying a used 2026 Kia Sportage?

Accident-free inventory is excellent at 94.7% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.

You should still run a history report, verify service records, and inspect the vehicle closely for wear that matches the mileage and trim level. Pay extra attention to the tires, brakes, and interior controls, especially if you’re considering a higher-trim model with more equipment. If you’re shopping an X-Pro or X-Line, make sure the added hardware and features are actually present and in good condition.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base LX gets the standard 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and 12.3-inch touchscreen, plus wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, but wireless phone charging is not standard there. X-Line and X-Pro models add digital key functionality, while SX and higher grades get the Harman Kardon premium audio system.
• Powertrain: Non-hybrid models use a 2.5-liter four-cylinder with 187 horsepower and 178 pound-feet of torque paired with a six-speed automatic. Hybrid versions use a 1.6-liter turbocharged four-cylinder with an electric motor for 232 hp and 271 lb-ft, while plug-in hybrid models rise to 268 hp.
• Safety package: Standard driver-assist features include adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go, forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane keep assist, lane departure warning, lane following assist, and front and rear parking sensors. Higher trims add navigation-linked adaptive cruise control, Highway Driving Assist with automated lane centering, a surround-view camera system, and Blind-spot View Monitor.
• Infotainment: A 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and 12.3-inch touchscreen are standard, along with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Wireless phone charging is standard on all but the base LX trim level.
• Fuel efficiency: The non-hybrid model is rated at 28 mpg combined with FWD and 26 mpg combined with AWD, while the X-Pro returns 24 mpg combined. The hybrid is rated at 42 mpg combined, and the plug-in hybrid gets up to 34 miles of all-electric driving.

Which 2026 Kia Sportage trim should I buy?

The 2026 Kia Sportage is offered in 6 trim levels: LX, EX, SX, SX-Prestige, X-Line, and X-Pro Prestige.

Here's the short version:

• LX: This is the entry point, and it already gives you the core Sportage experience with the standard 12.3-inch screens and wireless smartphone integration. It makes the most sense if you want the lowest starting price and can live without extras like wireless charging.
• EX: This is the logical step up if you want a more balanced everyday setup without jumping too far up the price ladder. It should be the trim to target if you want more equipment than the LX without chasing the most expensive versions.
• SX: This trim is the best-value choice if you want a richer tech experience, because it adds the Harman Kardon premium audio system. It’s a strong middle ground if you care about cabin features more than rugged styling.
• SX-Prestige: This is the trim to consider if you want more of the advanced convenience and driver-assistance content, including available AWD and the higher-end feature set. It suits you best if you want a more upscale Sportage without going all the way to the specialty trims.
• X-Line: This is the style-and-traction-oriented pick, with different front and rear bumpers, tread-like upholstery stitching, and standard AWD. It also gets digital key functionality, so it’s a good fit if you want a more distinctive look and added capability.
• X-Pro Prestige: This is the most specialized choice, with all-terrain tires, 17-inch wheels, and off-road-oriented tuning. It’s the one to buy only if you specifically want the X-Pro character, because the content makes clear that its value proposition is weaker than the rest of the lineup.

Higher trims also bring the more advanced safety features, including navigation-linked adaptive cruise control, Highway Driving Assist, the surround-view camera system, and Blind-spot View Monitor.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2026 Kia Sportage?

This is a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile listings.

• Deal availability: 39.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 2,065 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 13.22% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 94.7% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $27,508, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2026 Kia Sportage's resale value?

The current average of $27,981 sits slightly below last year's $32,244.

That decline suggests the Sportage is currently in a softer pricing environment, which can help you as a buyer today. For a future seller, though, it means you should expect a more competitive resale landscape if prices continue to normalize from last year’s higher level.

Because the current average is already below the prior-year figure, your best resale outcome will likely depend on trim choice, mileage, and condition. Well-equipped versions with strong maintenance history should hold up better than pricier trims that don’t deliver enough extra value.

Is the 2026 Kia Sportage safe?

The 2026 Kia Sportage received the highest Top Safety Pick+ award from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) and earns five-star ratings in frontal and side crash testing, and four-star ratings for rollover crash performance from NHTSA.

It earns a 10/10 safety score from our experts.

Standard driver-assistance features include adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go functionality, forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane keep assist, lane departure warning, lane following assist, and front and rear parking sensors. It also adds fatigue detection, rear-seat reminder alerts, and door-opening alerts for oncoming cars or cyclists.

Higher trims add navigation-linked adaptive cruise control for smoother curve handling, Highway Driving Assist with automated lane centering, a surround-view camera system, and Blind-spot View Monitor. If you want the most advanced safety tech, you’ll want to shop above the base trim.

Should I buy a 2026 Kia Sportage or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2026 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2026 if:

• 39.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is excellent at 94.7% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 13.22% compared with last year.
• The refreshed styling and strong safety story are the key reasons to focus on this model year.

The bottom line: If you want the freshest styling and a strong safety profile, the 2026 Sportage is the one to target. If your priority is stretching your budget as far as possible, you may want to compare nearby model years and focus on the best-priced, clean-history example rather than paying extra for the refresh.
