How much does the 2026 Kia Sportage cost?

Prices have softened 9.46% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 1,944 listings available, which suggests solid inventory for you to compare prices and equipment.

Is the 2026 Kia Sportage a good car?

The 2026 Kia Sportage earns a 7.3/10 expert rating, and it’s positioned as a well-rounded compact crossover with revised styling, impressive technology, and great safety ratings.

The standout strength is Safety at 10/10.

The overview and expert evaluation both point to a crossover that feels polished and competitive, especially if you want a stylish, well-equipped daily driver rather than something built for thrills. The main trade-offs are fairly pedestrian performance and the X-Pro Prestige’s weaker value proposition.

That makes the Sportage a strong fit if you want a practical, tech-forward crossover with broad appeal, but less compelling if you prioritize driving excitement or maximum value at the top end. Good and great deals account for 37.5% of listings, which gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2026 Kia Sportage reliable?

The 2026 Kia Sportage is presented as a competent, well-executed crossover with a strong warranty-backed ownership story, and its expert evaluation emphasizes that it continues Kia’s growth into a serious segment contender.

Its powertrain setup is straightforward for the gas model, with a naturally aspirated 2.5-liter four-cylinder paired to a six-speed automatic, and the expert notes that the engine “does just fine” even if the transmission could react more quickly. The cost-effectiveness discussion also highlights Kia’s 10-year/100,000-mile powertrain warranty and five-year/60,000-mile limited warranty, which are meaningful confidence builders for used buyers.

For long-term ownership, the main risk is less about the basic mechanical package and more about choosing the right trim and condition, since higher-priced versions can dilute the value advantage you’re trying to preserve.

What should I look for when buying a used 2026 Kia Sportage?

Accident-free inventory is excellent at 93% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.

You should still run a history report, verify service records, and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if you’re looking at a higher-mileage example or a trim with more equipment. Focus on overall condition, tire wear, and whether the features you care about are actually present on the specific listing.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The X-Pro model has all-terrain tires on 17-inch wheels and different drive-mode tuning, while X-Line models use different front and rear bumpers and 19-inch all-season tires. The base LX also misses wireless phone charging, which is standard on higher trims.
• Powertrain: The non-hybrid model uses a 2.5-liter four-cylinder with 187 horsepower and a six-speed automatic. Hybrid and plug-in hybrid versions use a 1.6-liter turbocharged four-cylinder with an electric motor, but those are separate powertrains from the standard gas model.
• Safety package: Standard equipment includes adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go, forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane keep assist, lane departure warning, lane following assist, front and rear parking sensors, fatigue warning, rear-seat reminder, and door-opening alerts for oncoming cars or cyclists. Higher trims add navigation-linked adaptive cruise control, Highway Driving Assist with automated lane centering, a surround-view camera system, and Blind-spot View Monitor.
• Infotainment: A 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and 12.3-inch touchscreen are standard, along with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Wireless phone charging is standard on all but the base LX trim level, and X-Line and X-Pro models add digital key functionality.
• Fuel efficiency: The non-hybrid front-wheel-drive model is rated at 25 mpg city and 33 mpg highway. The all-wheel-drive version is rated at 24 mpg city and 30 mpg highway, while the X-Pro is rated at 23 mpg city and 26 mpg highway.

Which 2026 Kia Sportage trim should I buy?

The 2026 Kia Sportage is offered in 6 trim levels: LX, EX, SX, SX-Prestige, X-Line, and X-Pro Prestige.

Here's the short version:

• LX: This is the entry point, and it gives you the core Sportage experience with the standard 12.3-inch screens, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and the full safety suite. It makes the most sense if you want the lowest starting cost and don’t need extra luxury touches.
• EX: This is the trim to target if you want a better balance of equipment and value, since it builds on the standard setup without jumping into the pricier upper-end territory. For most used shoppers, this is the best-value choice.
• SX: This trim adds a more premium feel, including the Harman Kardon audio system, and it’s a good fit if you care about upgraded cabin tech and sound quality.
• SX-Prestige: This is the step-up choice if you want more comfort and convenience features, plus the option for all-wheel drive. It suits you if you want a more upscale daily driver without going all the way to the specialty trims.
• X-Line: This trim adds different front and rear bumpers, 19-inch all-season tires, and digital key functionality. It’s the better pick if you want a more distinctive look and extra convenience features.
• X-Pro Prestige: This is the most specialized version, with all-terrain tires, 17-inch wheels, and off-road-oriented tuning. It’s the right choice only if you specifically want that character, but the expert evaluation says its value proposition is weaker than the rest of the lineup.

Higher trims also bring navigation-linked adaptive cruise control, Highway Driving Assist, a surround-view camera system, and Blind-spot View Monitor.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2026 Kia Sportage?

• Deal availability: 37.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,944 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.46% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 93.0% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $27,492, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2026 Kia Sportage's resale value?

The current average of $28,361 sits slightly below last year's $31,323.

That price movement suggests the Sportage has softened enough to create a better buying window now, but it also means a future seller may need to be realistic about depreciation if the market stays competitive. If you buy well today, you can help protect your resale position later by avoiding overpaying for a trim that doesn’t hold its value advantage.

Is the 2026 Kia Sportage safe?

The 2026 Kia Sportage received the highest Top Safety Pick+ award from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety and earns five-star ratings from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, with five-star ratings in frontal and side crash testing and four-star ratings for rollover crash performance.

It earns a 10/10 safety score from our experts.

Standard driver-assistance features include adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go functionality, forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane keep assist, lane departure warning, lane following assist, and front and rear parking sensors. It also adds fatigue detection, rear-seat reminder alerts, and door-opening warnings for oncoming traffic or cyclists.

Higher trims add navigation-linked adaptive cruise control, Highway Driving Assist with automated lane centering, a surround-view camera system, and Blind-spot View Monitor. If you want the most advanced assistance features, you’ll need to move up from the lower trims.

Should I buy a 2026 Kia Sportage or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2026 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2026 if:

• 37.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is excellent at 93% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.46% compared with last year.
• The refreshed styling and strong safety rating make this year especially appealing if you want the latest look and a well-equipped package.

The bottom line: If you want the freshest styling and a strong safety story, the 2026 is the one to target. If your priority is stretching your budget further, a nearby model year may still make sense, especially if you can find a cleaner or better-equipped example at a lower price.
