How much does the 2026 Honda Civic cost?

Prices have softened 1.03% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 2,984 listings available, which gives you a solid amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2026 Honda Civic a good car?

The 2026 Honda Civic earns a 6.8/10 expert rating, and it stands out for its broad appeal, polished driving experience, premium interior materials, and choice of body styles and powertrains.

The standout strength is Look and feel at 9/10.

Honda’s formula still works well if you want a compact car that feels more upscale than many rivals and remains enjoyable to drive even with the base engine. The trade-offs are that it can be noisy at speed and its technology is dated, so you’re balancing refinement and driving enjoyment against a less modern cabin experience.

The market shows 37.6% of listings as good or great deals, which suggests there are still worthwhile opportunities if you shop carefully.

Is the 2026 Honda Civic reliable?

The 2026 Honda Civic is presented as a dependable model, and the cost-effectiveness case is built around Honda’s strong reliability reputation and the car’s long-term durability.

The expert notes also emphasize that this is the kind of car you buy, drive for a long time, spend very little to keep running, and have it work for years and years. That dependability is reinforced by the model’s efficient powertrains and the expectation that it holds value well over time.

For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is less about outright reliability and more about choosing the right trim and condition so you avoid paying extra for features you may not need.

What should I look for when buying a used 2026 Honda Civic?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 86.4% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still check the vehicle history report carefully and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if you’re comparing multiple listings at similar prices. Focus on overall condition, equipment level, and whether the car’s features match what you actually want, since the Civic lineup varies meaningfully by trim.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The lineup spans sedans and hatchbacks, gas-only and hybrid powertrains, and performance variants such as the Si and Type R. The base Civic LX is the most basic, while the Civic Sport adds features that make it feel less stripped down, including blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert.
• Powertrain: The gas Civic LX and Sport use a 2.0-liter four-cylinder with 150 horsepower and 133 lb-ft of torque, paired with a CVT and front-wheel drive. The hybrids use Honda’s Two Motor Hybrid powertrain and are described as offering remarkable power and impressive efficiency.
• Safety package: Every Civic gets Honda Sensing, which includes forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, lane-centering assist, adaptive cruise control, and Traffic Jam Assist. Blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert are not available on the Civic LX, but they are on the Civic Sport.
• Infotainment: The standard setup includes a 7-inch digital instrument panel and a 7-inch touchscreen. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto require a cable connection, and the base system is described as simple rather than cutting-edge. Higher trims add larger displays and more advanced tech.
• Fuel efficiency: The Civic returns 31 mpg in the city, 39 mpg on the highway, and 34 mpg combined. On a test loop, it returned 31.9 mpg.

Which 2026 Honda Civic trim should I buy?

The 2026 Honda Civic is offered in 5 trim levels: LX, Sport, Sport Hybrid, Sport Touring Hybrid, and Si.

Here's the short version:

• LX: This is the entry point, and it gives you the core Civic experience with the standard 2.0-liter engine and basic tech. It makes sense if you want the lowest-cost way into the lineup and don’t need the extra convenience and safety features found higher up.
• Sport: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds meaningful equipment over the LX, including blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and an eight-speaker audio system. If you want a more complete daily driver without jumping into the pricier hybrid or performance models, this is the trim to target.
• Sport Hybrid: This trim is for you if efficiency and stronger power matter more than keeping the price down. The hybrid powertrain is described as offering remarkable power and impressive efficiency, making it the smart pick if you plan to keep the car a long time and want lower fuel use.
• Sport Touring Hybrid: This is the most tech-forward mainstream Civic trim, with larger displays, Google built-in, Alexa built-in, wireless smartphone charging, a Wi-Fi hotspot, and more. It suits you if you want the most modern cabin experience in the lineup.
• Si: This is the enthusiast choice, with a non-hybrid turbocharged gas engine and a manual transmission only. It’s the trim to buy if driving enjoyment matters more than comfort-focused value.

Honda Sensing is standard across the lineup, but blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert are not available on the Civic LX.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2026 Honda Civic?

This is a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you have room to shop, but the best listings can still move quickly.

• Deal availability: 37.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 2,984 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 1.03% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 86.4% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $26,768, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2026 Honda Civic's resale value?

The current average of $26,768 sits slightly below last year's $27,045.

That small decline suggests the Civic is holding value reasonably well, even if the market has softened a bit. For a future seller, that means you’re still starting from a relatively strong position compared with many compact cars.

The price trend also points to a market that is not overheating, so you should not expect rapid appreciation. If you buy well and keep the car in good condition, the Civic’s reputation for durability and value retention should help support resale later.

Is the 2026 Honda Civic safe?

The 2026 Civic sedan earns five-star ratings overall from NHTSA, including four-star frontal impact, five-star side impact, and five-star rollover resistance ratings.

It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.

Honda Sensing is standard, and it includes forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, lane-centering assist, adaptive cruise control, and Traffic Jam Assist. Blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert are not available on the Civic LX, though they are included on the Civic Sport.

One caveat is that the lane-centering assist can feel intrusive without adaptive cruise control, and the adaptive cruise control itself can brake more aggressively than you may want in heavier traffic.

Should I buy a 2026 Honda Civic or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2026 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2026 if:

• 37.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 86.4% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 1.03% compared with last year.
• It carries over unchanged with the same broad Civic formula, including sedan and hatchback body styles and available hybrid, Si, and Type R variants.

Consider the 2025 if:

• At $25,055, the 2025 costs less than the current year's $26,768 average.
• It offers a straightforward gas-only Civic lineup with a polished feel and a bit more personality than the average compact car.

The bottom line: if you want the newest version of this generation and are comfortable paying a bit more, the 2026 is the cleaner choice. If you’re price-sensitive, the 2025 is the smarter value play because it delivers much of the same Civic appeal for less money.
