How much does the 2026 Honda Civic cost?

Prices have held steady compared to this time last year, signaling a stable and predictable market for this model year.

There are 2,991 listings available, which gives you a healthy amount of inventory to compare before you buy.

Is the 2026 Honda Civic a good car?

The 2026 Honda Civic earns an expert rating of 6.83/10.

The standout strength is Look and feel at 9/10.

That lines up with a Civic that feels more polished than many compact cars, with broad appeal from its sedan and hatchback body styles and gas, hybrid, Si, and Type R variants. It also remains satisfying to drive even with the base engine, but you should weigh the trade-offs: it can be noisy at speed, and its technology is described as outdated.

The market also looks reasonably supportive, with 39.1% of listings priced as good or great deals.

Is the 2026 Honda Civic reliable?

The 2026 Honda Civic is presented as a dependable model that should be inexpensive to keep running over time. The expert review also frames it as a car you can buy, drive for a long time, and expect to keep working well for years.

Its powertrain and driving notes reinforce that impression: the base 2.0-liter engine and CVT are described as adequate and generally unobtrusive, while the hybrid setup is called excellent and impressively efficient. Honda also positions the Civic as cost-effective over the long haul, and the first scheduled maintenance visit is on the house.

For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that a premium purchase price can be harder to justify if you want the cheapest possible ownership path.

What should I look for when buying a used 2026 Honda Civic?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 88.1% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still check the report carefully, then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection that focuses on condition, electronics, and signs of hard use. Because the Civic can be noisy at speed and its tech is a weak point, it’s smart to confirm that the cabin features, infotainment, and driver-assistance systems all work as expected.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Civic Sport adds blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert, which the Civic LX does not get. The Sport also brings a more upscale look and feel than the base trim, while the cabin materials and controls are a major strength across the lineup.
• Powertrain: The LX and Sport use a 2.0-liter four-cylinder with 150 horsepower and 133 lb-ft of torque, paired with a CVT and front-wheel drive. The hybrid models use Honda’s Two Motor Hybrid powertrain, which is described as offering remarkable power and impressive efficiency.
• Safety package: Honda Sensing is standard and includes forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, lane-centering assist, adaptive cruise control, and Traffic Jam Assist. Blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert are not available on the Civic LX.
• Infotainment: The standard setup includes a 7-inch digital instrument panel and a 7-inch touchscreen. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto require a cable connection. Higher trims such as the Si and Sport Touring Hybrid get larger displays, Google built-in, Alexa built-in, a Wi-Fi hotspot, and wireless smartphone charging.
• Fuel efficiency: The Civic returns 31 mpg in the city, 39 mpg on the highway, and 34 mpg combined. The hybrid models are described as especially efficient.

Which 2026 Honda Civic trim should I buy?

The 2026 Honda Civic is offered in 4 trim levels: LX, Sport, Sport Hybrid, and Sport Touring Hybrid.

Here's the short version:

• LX: This is the entry point, and it makes sense if you want the lowest-cost way into the Civic lineup. You still get the Civic’s core strengths, but you give up the Sport’s blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert.
• Sport: This is the best-value trim for most used buyers because it adds blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert, plus an eight-speaker audio system instead of four speakers. It also keeps the Civic’s appealing driving character and upscale cabin feel.
• Sport Hybrid: Choose this if you want the hybrid powertrain’s stronger efficiency and more impressive overall power. It’s the right pick if fuel savings matter more than keeping the purchase price as low as possible.
• Sport Touring Hybrid: This is the most feature-rich choice, with larger displays, Google built-in, Alexa built-in, wireless smartphone charging, a Wi-Fi hotspot, and more premium tech content. It suits you best if you want the most advanced Civic experience.

Honda Sensing is standard across the lineup, but blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert are not available on the Civic LX.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2026 Honda Civic?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you have room to shop carefully without expecting huge discounts everywhere.

• Deal availability: 39.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 2,991 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have held steady compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 88.1% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $26,996, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2026 Honda Civic's resale value?

The current average of $27,059 sits slightly below last year's $27,182.

That small decline suggests the Civic’s resale picture is still relatively stable rather than volatile. If you buy one and keep it in good condition, you should still benefit from the model’s reputation for holding value well over time.

For a future seller, that means the Civic remains a safer bet than many compact cars if you care about depreciation. The premium you pay up front may be easier to recover later, especially if you choose a desirable trim and keep mileage and condition in check.

Is the 2026 Honda Civic safe?

The 2026 Honda Civic earns a five-star overall rating from NHTSA, including four-star frontal impact, five-star side impact, and five-star rollover resistance ratings.

It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.

Honda Sensing is standard and includes forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, lane-centering assist, adaptive cruise control, and Traffic Jam Assist. Blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert are not available on the Civic LX, though they are included on the Sport.

One caveat from the expert review is that lane-centering assist can feel intrusive without adaptive cruise control, and the adaptive cruise control can brake too hard in traffic.

Should I buy a 2026 Honda Civic or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2026 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2026 if:

• 39.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 88.1% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have held steady compared with last year.
• It carries over the latest Civic formula with broad body-style and powertrain choice.

Consider the 2025 if:

• At $25,199, the 2025 costs less than the current year's $27,059 average.
• It offers a refreshed gas-only Civic lineup with a strong enthusiast-friendly appeal.

The bottom line: If you want the newest market snapshot and a broad selection, the 2026 is the cleaner choice. If you’re focused on saving money, the 2025 is the better value path and still gives you the Civic’s core strengths.
