How much does the 2026 Honda Civic cost?

Prices have held steady compared to this time last year, signaling a stable and predictable market for this model year.

There are 3,044 listings available, which gives you a solid amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2026 Honda Civic a good car?

The 2026 Honda Civic earns a 6.8/10 expert rating, and Honda positions it as a broad-appeal compact car with sedan and hatchback body styles, plus gas and hybrid powertrains.

The standout strength is Look and feel at 9/10.

It’s a strong fit if you want a compact car that feels more polished than many rivals and still stays satisfying to drive, even with the base engine. The trade-offs are that you pay a premium for it, and the car can be noisy at speed while its technology feels dated.

The Civic’s market position is still healthy, with 32.6% of listings marked as good or great deals.

Is the 2026 Honda Civic reliable?

Honda describes the Civic as a dependable model, and the broader ownership case is reinforced by its strong value retention and efficient operation. The expert evaluation also frames it as a car you can buy, drive for a long time, and keep running with relatively little fuss.

The performance notes back that up with a straightforward 2.0-liter four-cylinder setup in the LX and Sport, plus a CVT that mostly stays out of the way. Honda also says the Civic is efficient and enjoyable to drive, which supports the idea that it should be easy to live with over time.

Honda also highlights the Civic Hybrid as especially efficient, and the cost-effectiveness notes point to the model’s long-term dependability and value retention as major ownership strengths.

For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that a premium purchase price can be harder to justify if you want the cheapest possible ownership path.

What should I look for when buying a used 2026 Honda Civic?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 88.1% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still check the history report carefully, because a clean title and clean accident history matter even when the market looks healthy. Prioritize a pre-purchase inspection if you’re considering a higher-mileage example or a car with visible wear. Focus on overall condition, since the Civic’s premium pricing makes cosmetic and mechanical issues more important to your final value.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Civic lineup spans sedans and hatchbacks, gas-only and hybrid powertrains, and performance variants such as the Si and Type R. The Sport trim adds 18-inch wheels, a shiny exhaust outlet tip, and a more upscale cabin look than the base LX, while the base trim misses some of those visual and equipment upgrades.
• Powertrain: The LX and Sport use a 2.0-liter four-cylinder with 150 horsepower and 133 lb-ft of torque, paired with a CVT and front-wheel drive. The hybrids use Honda’s Two Motor Hybrid powertrain, which is described as offering remarkable power and impressive efficiency.
• Safety package: Every Civic gets Honda Sensing, including forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, lane-centering assist, adaptive cruise control, and Traffic Jam Assist. Blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert are not on the Civic LX, but they are on the Sport.
• Infotainment: The standard setup uses a 7-inch digital instrumentation panel and a 7-inch touchscreen. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto require a cable connection, while the Si and Sport Touring Hybrid get larger displays plus Google built-in, Alexa built-in, a Wi-Fi hotspot, and wireless smartphone charging.
• Fuel efficiency: The Civic returns 31 mpg in the city, 39 mpg on the highway, and 34 mpg combined. The hybrid is described as especially efficient.

Which 2026 Honda Civic trim should I buy?

The 2026 Honda Civic is offered in 5 trim levels: LX, Sport, Sport Hybrid, Sport Touring Hybrid, and Si.

Here's the short version:

• LX: This is the entry point, and it gives you the Civic’s core strengths without the extra equipment. It makes sense if you want the lowest-cost way into the lineup and can live without the Sport’s added features.
• Sport: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds 18-inch wheels, a more distinctive look, an eight-speaker audio system, and blind-spot monitoring plus rear cross-traffic alert.
• Sport Hybrid: Choose this if you want the hybrid powertrain and its efficiency advantage while staying in the core Civic lineup.
• Sport Touring Hybrid: This is the most feature-rich hybrid choice, with larger displays, Google built-in, Alexa built-in, wireless smartphone charging, a Wi-Fi hotspot, and more.
• Si: Pick this if you want the sportiest gas-only Civic sedan, a manual transmission, and a more enthusiast-focused setup.

Honda Sensing is standard across the lineup, but blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert are not available on the LX.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2026 Honda Civic?

This is a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you have room to shop carefully without expecting a deep bargain on every listing.

• Deal availability: 32.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 3,044 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have held steady compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 88.1% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $26,994, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2026 Honda Civic's resale value?

The current average of $27,014 sits slightly below last year's $27,093.

That small decline suggests the Civic’s used-market pricing has stayed relatively stable rather than swinging sharply. For a future seller, that usually points to predictable demand and less risk of a sudden value drop.

Because the model holds its value well over time, you can expect the Civic to remain relatively resilient if you keep it in good condition. That said, the premium you pay up front still matters, so strong resale helps most when you buy at a sensible price.

Is the 2026 Honda Civic safe?

The 2026 Civic sedan earns five-star ratings from NHTSA, including four-star frontal impact and five-star side impact and rollover resistance ratings.

It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.

Honda Sensing is standard, and it includes forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, lane-centering assist, adaptive cruise control, and Traffic Jam Assist. Blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert are not on the Civic LX, but they are included on the Sport.

Honda says the systems worked as advertised, but the lane-centering assist can feel intrusive without adaptive cruise control, and the adaptive cruise control can brake too hard in traffic. Those are worth keeping in mind if you do a lot of commuting.

Should I buy a 2026 Honda Civic or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2026 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2026 if:

• 32.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 88.1% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have held steady compared with last year.
• It carries over unchanged after a mild update and keeps the Civic’s broad sedan, hatchback, gas, hybrid, Si, and Type R appeal.

Consider the 2025 if:

• At $25,180, the 2025 costs less than the current year's $27,014 average.
• It offers a refreshed gas-only Civic lineup with a straightforward trim structure and a strong enthusiast option in the Si.

The bottom line: Choose the 2026 if you want the latest version of the Civic’s stable formula and are comfortable paying a bit more for it. If you’re focused on value, the 2025 is the smarter path because it delivers much of the same core appeal for less money.
