How much does the 2026 Honda Civic cost?

Prices have held steady compared to this time last year, signaling a stable and predictable market for this model year.

There are 2,986 listings available, which gives you a solid amount of inventory to compare before you buy.

Is the 2026 Honda Civic a good car?

The 2026 Honda Civic earns a 6.8/10 expert rating, and Honda positions it as a broad-appeal compact car with sedan and hatchback body styles, gas and hybrid powertrains, and sporty Si and Type R variants. The standout strength is Look and feel at 9/10.

That strong score lines up with the Civic’s polished cabin, premium interior materials, and overall execution. The trade-offs are clear: you pay a premium, the car can be noisy at speed, and the technology is described as outdated.

For you, that means the Civic makes the most sense if you value refinement and driving enjoyment more than bargain pricing or cutting-edge tech. There are 37.1% good or great deals in the market, which suggests you can still find some value if you shop carefully.

Is the 2026 Honda Civic reliable?

The 2026 Honda Civic is presented as a dependable model, and Honda’s cost-effectiveness case leans heavily on long-term durability and strong value retention. The expert test drive data also describes it as a car that you can buy, drive for a long time, and spend very little to keep running.

Its performance notes reinforce that impression: the base 2.0-liter four-cylinder and CVT are described as adequate, the drivetrain is muted most of the time, and the chassis tuning is praised for precise steering and effective brakes. The cost-effectiveness section also points to Honda’s high reliability reputation and the Civic’s ability to hold its value well over time.

For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is less about mechanical fragility and more about paying a premium up front for a car that may not feel as advanced as newer rivals.

What should I look for when buying a used 2026 Honda Civic?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 87.7% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still check the history report carefully, because accident-free listings are common but not universal. Prioritize a pre-purchase inspection if you’re considering a higher-mileage example or a car with visible wear. Focus on cabin condition, road noise, and how well the tech and driver-assistance features work in real use.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Civic Sport adds 18-inch wheels, a more distinctive exterior look, and a better audio system than the LX, while the cabin still feels upscale for the class. The base LX misses blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert, so feature gaps matter if you want more confidence in daily driving.
• Powertrain: The LX and Sport use a 2.0-liter four-cylinder with 150 horsepower and a CVT, and the hybrids use Honda’s Two Motor Hybrid powertrain for stronger efficiency and more power. The base setup is adequate, but it can feel underpowered when merging, climbing grades, or passing.
• Safety package: Every Civic gets Honda Sensing, which includes forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, lane-centering assist, adaptive cruise control, and Traffic Jam Assist. Blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert are not available on the LX, but they are standard on the Sport.
• Infotainment: The standard setup uses a 7-inch digital instrument panel and a 7-inch touchscreen, with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto requiring a cable connection. Higher trims such as the Si and Sport Touring Hybrid add larger displays, Google built-in, Alexa built-in, wireless smartphone charging, and a Wi-Fi hotspot.
• Fuel efficiency: The Civic returns 31 mpg in the city, 39 mpg on the highway, and 34 mpg combined.

Which 2026 Honda Civic trim should I buy?

The 2026 Honda Civic is offered in 5 trim levels: LX, Sport, Sport Hybrid, Sport Touring Hybrid, and Si.

Here's the short version:

• LX: This is the simplest entry point, and it gives you the Civic’s core strengths without extra equipment. It makes sense if you want the lowest-cost path into the lineup, but you give up blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert.
• Sport: This is the best-value trim for most shoppers because it adds blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, 18-inch wheels, and an eight-speaker audio system. It keeps the Civic’s polished feel while addressing the LX’s biggest feature gaps.
• Sport Hybrid: Choose this if you want the hybrid powertrain and its efficiency advantage while staying in the core Civic lineup. It adds the hybrid system without moving all the way up to the more feature-rich Touring model.
• Sport Touring Hybrid: This is the most feature-rich mainstream Civic trim, with larger displays, Google built-in, Alexa built-in, wireless smartphone charging, a Wi-Fi hotspot, and parking sensors with low-speed automatic braking. It suits you if you want the most tech and convenience.
• Si: This is the enthusiast choice, with a turbocharged gas engine and a manual transmission only. It’s the trim to buy if driving engagement matters more than comfort or efficiency.

Honda Sensing is standard across the lineup, while blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert are unavailable on the LX and standard on the Sport and above.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2026 Honda Civic?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you have room to shop, but the best examples still deserve quick action.

• Deal availability: 37.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 2,986 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have held steady compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 87.7% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $26,897, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2026 Honda Civic's resale value?

The current average of $26,897 sits slightly below last year's $27,127.

That small decline suggests the Civic’s used-market pricing has stayed relatively stable rather than swinging sharply. For you as a future seller, that usually points to predictable depreciation instead of a sudden drop in value.

Because the Civic is described as dependable and value-retaining, it should remain easier to resell than many compact cars. If you keep mileage reasonable and maintain it well, you’re likely to preserve a stronger share of your purchase price.

Is the 2026 Honda Civic safe?

The 2026 Honda Civic earns a five-star overall rating from NHTSA, including four-star frontal impact, five-star side impact, and five-star rollover resistance ratings.

It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.

Honda Sensing is standard and includes forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, lane-centering assist, adaptive cruise control, and Traffic Jam Assist. Blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert are not available on the LX, but they are standard on the Sport.

One caveat is that the lane-centering assist can feel intrusive without adaptive cruise control, and the adaptive cruise control can brake too hard in heavier traffic.

Should I buy a 2026 Honda Civic or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2026 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2026 if:

• 37.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 87.7% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have held steady compared with last year.
• It carries over unchanged after the 2025 update, with the same broad lineup and polished driving feel.

Consider the 2025 if:

• At $25,133, the 2025 costs less than the current year's $26,897 average.
• It offers a refreshed lineup with a straightforward gas-only choice and an appealing Civic Si.

The bottom line: If you want the most current used Civic market with stable pricing and solid inventory, the 2026 is the cleaner pick. If your priority is saving money, the 2025 is the better value path, especially if you’re comfortable giving up the newer model year’s market position.
