Is the 2026 Honda Accord a good car?

The 2026 Honda Accord earns a 7/10 from our experts. The standout strength is Look and feel at 9/10.

The Accord’s appeal is rooted in its roomy cabin, practical sedan packaging, and broad standard equipment. It also brings a polished, straightforward driving experience, with a comfortable ride and handling that feels more engaging than a typical commuter sedan.

The trade-offs are clear: all-wheel drive is not available, and the front seats are a weak point. It also trails some rivals on technology value, even though the 2026 update adds a larger standard touchscreen and wireless smartphone integration.

With 36.7% of listings priced as good or great deals, you have a decent chance of finding a competitive offer if you shop carefully.

Is the 2026 Honda Accord reliable?

The 2026 Honda Accord is presented as a practical, long-term sedan with a reputation for reliability and safety, and the expert review reinforces that it’s built for everyday use across multiple life stages. Its powertrain is described as smooth and consistent, and the driving experience is tuned for comfort and predictability rather than drama.

Honda also gives you a straightforward cabin layout with physical controls for key functions, which can make the car easier to live with over time. The Accord’s standard equipment and safety systems are broad, and the review frames it as a vehicle that should be easy to own and use day to day.

For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is that the Accord’s value proposition is less about low purchase price and more about paying for a well-rounded package, so you should be selective about condition and maintenance history.

What should I look for when buying a used 2026 Honda Accord?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 89.4% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still check the report carefully and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if you’re considering a higher-mileage example or a car with visible wear. Focus on cabin condition, seat comfort, and whether the tech and driver-assistance features work as expected, since those are central to the Accord’s appeal.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The SE adds blind-spot monitors and rear cross-traffic alert, while those features are unavailable on the base LX.
• Powertrain: The turbocharged 1.5-liter four-cylinder makes 192 horsepower and is paired with a CVT; the Accord is front-wheel drive only.
• Safety package: Honda Sensing includes high-beam assist, forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, lane-departure warning, lane-keep assist, and lane-centering assist. Blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert require the SE.
• Infotainment: Every Accord has a 9-inch touchscreen, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and a wireless smartphone charger.
• Fuel efficiency: The SE test car averaged 29.3 mpg on the evaluation loop, and the review notes an official rating of 31 mpg in combined driving.

Which 2026 Honda Accord trim should I buy?

The 2026 Honda Accord is offered in 2 trim levels: LX and SE.

Here's the short version:

• LX: This is the entry point, but it misses blind-spot monitors and rear cross-traffic alert. It makes sense only if you want the lowest starting price and can live without those extra safety features.
• SE: This is the best-value trim because it adds blind-spot monitors and rear cross-traffic alert, plus the more appealing 19-inch wheels and the stronger overall look and feel that the review highlights.

The safety package is strongest on the SE, since the base LX leaves out two important driver-assistance features.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2026 Honda Accord?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so you should shop with a clear target and compare condition closely.

• Deal availability: 36.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,797 listings available.
• Clean inventory: 89.4% of listings are accident-free.

Is the 2026 Honda Accord safe?

The 2026 Honda Accord earns a five-star overall rating from NHTSA and a Top Safety Pick rating from the IIHS.

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

Honda Sensing is standard and includes high-beam assist, forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, lane-departure warning, lane-keep assist, and lane-centering assist. Blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert are not standard on the base LX and require the SE.

The review also notes that pedestrian detection kept the Accord from reaching Top Safety Pick+ status, since that system was rated Acceptable rather than Good.

Should I buy a 2026 Honda Accord or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2026 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

• 36.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 89.4% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Expert or safety highlight specific to this year from ROOT "Expert test drive data"."Summary".

The bottom line: If you want the latest Accord with the larger standard touchscreen, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and the same roomy, practical character the nameplate is known for, the 2026 is the one to target. If you’re more price-sensitive, a nearby model year may still make sense as long as you find a clean example with the features you want.
