New & Used 2026 Chevrolet Traverse for Sale near Chamisal, NM

Is the 2026 Chevrolet Traverse a good car?

The 2026 Chevrolet Traverse earns a 7.3/10 expert rating. The model scores 9/10 across Form and function, Technology, and Safety.

It fits your needs best if you want a three-row crossover that can stand in for both a minivan and a full-size SUV, with a spacious cabin and a pleasant ride. The expert verdict also points to strong everyday usability, especially if you value room, comfort, and a long list of safety equipment.

The trade-offs are clear: the engine is gruff, power is only mediocre, and the Traverse is too big to handle well. It also can’t tow as much as full-size body-on-frame SUVs, so it makes more sense as a family hauler than as a maximum-capability tow rig.

With 33.0% of listings priced as good or great deals, you have a decent amount of market opportunity if you shop carefully.

Is the 2026 Chevrolet Traverse reliable?

The 2026 Chevrolet Traverse is presented as a practical family SUV with a strong emphasis on everyday usability, and its expert evaluation supports that with a solid overall score and strong marks for form and function, technology, and safety. Its ride quality is generally good, and the standard active noise cancellation helps, even if the engine note still stands out.

The powertrain is described as adequate rather than quick, and the vehicle’s size makes it somewhat cumbersome to maneuver, but the overall package is built around comfort and utility rather than complexity. The standard feature set is broad, and the available driver-assistance technology adds another layer of confidence for daily use.

For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is that the Traverse’s size, powertrain character, and heavy family-duty use can make condition and maintenance history especially important.

What should I look for when buying a used 2026 Chevrolet Traverse?

Accident-free inventory is excellent at 93.6% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.

You should still run a history report and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if you’re considering a higher-mileage example or one with added equipment. Focus on overall condition, signs of heavy family use, and whether the features you want are actually present on the trim you’re looking at.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base LT is already well equipped with cloth upholstery, an eight-way power driver’s seat, heated front seats, a heated steering wheel, tri-zone automatic climate control, and a hands-free power liftgate. Higher trims add more comfort, including a six-way power front passenger seat, a power tilt/telescoping steering column, driver’s seat memory, leather upholstery, and heated rear seats.
• Powertrain: Every Traverse uses a 2.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder with 328 horsepower and 326 pound-feet of torque, paired with an eight-speed automatic. Front-wheel drive is standard, and AWD is available for $2,000.
• Safety package: Standard equipment includes forward-collision warning with pedestrian and cyclist detection and intersection assist, front and rear automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, high-beam assist, rear cross-traffic alert, blind-spot monitors with steering assist, side bicycle alert, lane-departure warning, lane-keep assist, rear parking sensors, and GM’s Safety Alert Seat. The Enhanced Driving package adds Super Cruise, automatic parking, a driver-attention monitor, and the Bose audio system, while the Driver Confidence package adds a surround-view camera system, rear pedestrian alert, traffic-sign recognition, and a rear-camera mirror.
• Infotainment: You get an 11-inch digital instrument cluster and a 17.7-inch infotainment touchscreen with Google built in, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Google Maps navigation, a wireless phone charger, remote start, and eight years of OnStar Basics.
• Fuel efficiency: FWD models are rated at 20 mpg city, 27 mpg highway, and 23 mpg combined, while AWD models are rated at 20 mpg city, 24 mpg highway, and 21 mpg combined.

Which 2026 Chevrolet Traverse trim should I buy?

The 2026 Chevrolet Traverse is offered in 4 trim levels: LT, Z71, High Country, RS.

Here's the short version:

• LT: This is the best-value choice if you want the Traverse’s core strengths without paying for extras. It already brings the roomy cabin, strong tech, and broad safety equipment that make the SUV appealing.
• Z71: This is the trim to choose if you want the most rugged-looking Traverse and the one with the most off-road-oriented setup. It stands out with red front tow hooks and knobby all-terrain tires, and AWD is standard.
• High Country: This is the comfort-focused upgrade if you want more upscale features, including a six-way power front passenger seat, a power tilt/telescoping steering column, driver’s seat memory, leather upholstery, and heated rear seats.
• RS: This is the style-forward choice if you want the blacked-out look and a more luxurious-feeling top-end presentation.

The safety package is strong across the lineup, but some of the more advanced driver-assistance features are tied to optional packages rather than every trim.

Is the 2026 Chevrolet Traverse safe?

The 2026 Chevrolet Traverse earns a Top Safety Pick from IIHS and five-star ratings from NHTSA.

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

Standard safety equipment is extensive, including forward-collision warning with pedestrian and cyclist detection and intersection assist, front and rear automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, high-beam assist, rear cross-traffic alert, blind-spot monitors with steering assist, side bicycle alert, lane-departure warning, lane-keep assist, rear parking sensors, and GM’s Safety Alert Seat.

The available Enhanced Driving package adds Super Cruise, automatic parking, and a driver-attention monitor, while the Driver Confidence package adds a surround-view camera system, rear pedestrian alert, traffic-sign recognition, and a rear-camera mirror. Should I buy a 2026 Chevrolet Traverse or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2026 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2026 if:

• 33.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is excellent at 93.6% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
• It combines a spacious cabin, strong safety equipment, and excellent technology.

Consider the 2025 if:

• It adds a new High Country trim and standard trailering equipment.

The bottom line: Choose the 2026 if you want the strongest mix of space, tech, and safety in this generation. If you’re shopping on a tighter budget, the 2025 can still make sense because it brings many of the same core strengths and may offer a lower entry price.
