New & Used 2026 Chevrolet Equinox for Sale nearCarlsbad, NM

How much does the 2026 Chevrolet Equinox cost?

Prices have softened 10.00% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 5,997 listings available, which gives you a solid amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2026 Chevrolet Equinox a good car?

Yes — your 5/5 user rating points to strong owner satisfaction, and the expert rating is 7.5/10. The standout strength is Look and feel at 9/10.

The 2026 Equinox is a balanced, well-rounded compact crossover with stylish design, a well-executed interior, and easy-to-use technology. It fits you well if you want a straightforward SUV that covers the basics without feeling stripped down.

The trade-offs are clear: it has less cargo space than rivals and fairly pedestrian performance, and the transmission can be irritating. Even so, the market shows 40.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which suggests there are still attractive buys out there.

Is the 2026 Chevrolet Equinox reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The Equinox is presented as a familiar, well-executed compact crossover rather than a risky redesign, and its core hardware is straightforward. The turbocharged 1.5-liter engine and available all-wheel-drive setup are conventional choices, which generally keeps ownership simple.

Chevy also gives you a practical, easy-to-use cabin and standard tech that should reduce day-to-day frustration. If you’re shopping used, the main long-term ownership risk is that the transmission and modest performance may be more noticeable over time than outright mechanical complexity.

What should I look for when buying a used 2026 Chevrolet Equinox?

Accident-free inventory is excellent at 93.7% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.

You should still run a history report and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if you’re considering a higher-mileage example or one with optional equipment. Focus on overall condition, because the Equinox’s value proposition depends heavily on whether the cabin, tech, and drivetrain feel well cared for.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The LT, Active, and RS each bring distinct styling cues, and the base LT is the most straightforward choice if you want the essentials without paying for appearance upgrades. The Active adds a more rugged look and all-terrain tires, while the RS leans sportier with more black trim and larger wheels.
• Powertrain: The only engine is a turbocharged 1.5-liter inline-four with 175 horsepower. Front-wheel-drive models use a CVT, while all-wheel-drive versions use an eight-speed automatic and make 203 lb-ft of torque.
• Safety package: Standard equipment includes automatic emergency braking with pedestrian and cyclist detection, forward-collision warning, lane-keep assist, lane-departure warning, high-beam assist, blind-spot monitors, rear cross-traffic alert with braking, and rear park-assist. The Safety and Technology Package adds a surround-view camera system, a digital rear-view mirror, rear pedestrian alert, and traffic-sign recognition.
• Infotainment: You get an 11-inch digital instrument cluster and an 11.3-inch touchscreen, plus wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Google built-in apps are included, and the system supports over-the-air capability through its Android-based setup.
• Fuel efficiency: The Equinox is rated at 27 mpg combined (26 mpg city, 29 mpg highway) in front-wheel-drive form, and all-wheel-drive models are rated 1 mpg lower in the combined and city categories.

Which 2026 Chevrolet Equinox trim should I buy?

The 2026 Chevrolet Equinox is offered in 3 trim levels: LT, Active, RS.

Here's the short version:

• LT: This is the best-value trim if you want the Equinox’s core strengths without paying for extra styling or appearance upgrades. You still get the standard tech and safety foundation, plus the most accessible starting point in the lineup.
• Active: Choose this if you want the more rugged look and the unique interior touches, including microfiber and Evotex seats. It’s the trim that best suits buyers who like the idea of a weekend-ready vibe, though the content makes clear its off-road advantage is limited.
• RS: Pick this if you want the sportiest appearance, with more black trim, a wider grille, and standard 19-inch wheels. It’s the most style-forward choice, but not the value pick.

The Safety and Technology Package adds useful features, including the surround-view camera system and digital rear-view mirror.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2026 Chevrolet Equinox?

It’s a buyer-friendly moment if you’re shopping this model year.

• Deal availability: 40.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 5,997 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 10.00% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 93.7% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $28,366, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2026 Chevrolet Equinox's resale value?

The current average of $28,366 sits slightly below last year's $31,518.

That price movement suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you buy at a better entry point now. For a future seller, that also means resale value will depend heavily on condition, mileage, and how well the vehicle is equipped.

Because the Equinox has a broad appeal as a balanced compact crossover, well-kept examples should remain easy to market. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2026 Chevrolet Equinox safe?

The 2026 Equinox received the IIHS top Good rating in the updated moderate overlap front and side-impact tests, with Acceptable ratings in the whiplash and small overlap front tests. It also earned Good ratings for headlights and front-crash prevention tech in the pedestrian test, plus an Acceptable rating in the vehicle-to-vehicle test.

It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.

Standard driver-assistance equipment includes automatic emergency braking with pedestrian and cyclist detection, forward-collision warning, lane-keep assist, lane-departure warning, high-beam assist, blind-spot monitors, rear cross-traffic alert with braking, and rear park-assist. The Safety and Technology Package adds a surround-view camera system, a digital rear-view mirror, rear pedestrian alert, and traffic-sign recognition.

One caveat is that the IIHS results are mixed rather than uniformly top-tier, so you should pay attention to which safety features are standard versus optional on the trim you’re considering.

Should I buy a 2026 Chevrolet Equinox or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2026 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2026 if:

• 40.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is excellent at 93.7% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 10.00% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2026 keeps the redesigned Equinox formula focused on easy-to-use tech, a well-executed interior, and broad everyday appeal.

Consider the 2025 if:

• At $26,243, the 2025 costs less than the current year's $28,366 average.
• The redesign adds fresh styling, new standard tech, and more value for compact SUV shoppers.

The bottom line: If you want the newer model-year pricing trend, strong inventory, and the latest version of the Equinox’s balanced formula, the 2026 is the better all-around pick. If your priority is spending less up front, the 2025 is the smarter value play and still brings the redesigned package.
