New & Used 2026 BMW X5 for Sale near Mount Pleasant, IA

How much does the 2026 BMW X5 cost?

Prices have softened 5.51% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 3,386 listings available, which gives you a solid pool of used X5s to compare.

Is the 2026 BMW X5 a good car?

Yes — the 2026 BMW X5 earns a 5/5 user rating and a 7.5/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Look and feel at 9/10.

The X5 is built around BMW’s driving-first identity, with a rear-wheel-drive platform, available inline-six and V8 powertrains, and xDrive all-wheel drive. It is also a practical midsize, two-row SUV with roomy seating, strong visibility, and generous cargo space, so you get everyday usability without moving up to a larger vehicle.

The trade-offs are that it is not designed for serious off-road use and the ride can be firm, especially on rough pavement. Price also climbs quickly with options, so the best version for you depends on how much you value performance, comfort, and upscale features.

34.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which suggests there are still worthwhile opportunities if you shop carefully.

Is the 2026 BMW X5 reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The X5’s newer versions are described as improved compared with older ones, and BMW recommends looking for properly maintained examples. The model also comes with three years or 36,000 miles of scheduled maintenance, which helps reduce early ownership friction.

Its powertrain lineup includes efficient options as well as more demanding V8 versions, so long-term dependability will depend heavily on how the vehicle was configured and maintained. For used buyers, the biggest ownership risk is ending up with a poorly maintained example that needs expensive repairs or upkeep.

What should I look for when buying a used 2026 BMW X5?

Accident-free inventory is excellent at 96.4% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.

You should still run a history report and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if you are considering a higher-mileage or heavily optioned example. Focus on overall condition, maintenance records, tire wear, brake condition, and whether the vehicle’s equipment works as intended.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The sDrive40i is the rear-wheel-drive entry point, while the xDrive40i, xDrive50e, M60i, and X5 M Competition add all-wheel drive and, in some cases, much more performance and luxury equipment. The base setup is the least expensive way in, but it also leaves out some desirable features that can be added through options.
• Powertrain: BMW offers six-cylinder and eight-cylinder powertrains, including a twin-turbocharged 4.4-liter V8 in the M60i. The lineup also includes more fuel-efficient choices, such as the sDrive40i and xDrive40i, plus the xDrive50e plug-in hybrid with 38 miles of electric range.
• Safety package: The standard suite includes high-beam assist, forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keep assist, active blind-spot monitors, rear cross-traffic alert, a speed limit assistant, a driver monitoring system, a collision preparation system, post-collision braking, and parking sensors. Adaptive cruise control, lane-centering assist, lane-change assist, automatic emergency stop, evasive steering assist, and Highway Assistant are part of the optional Driving Assistance Professional Package.
• Infotainment: You get a 12.3-inch digital instrument panel and a 14.9-inch touchscreen under BMW Curved Display. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard, along with cloud-based navigation and connected services.
• Fuel efficiency: The M60i is rated at 19 mpg combined, while the sDrive40i and xDrive40i are rated at 25 mpg combined. The xDrive50e plug-in hybrid offers 38 miles of electric range.

Which 2026 BMW X5 trim should I buy?

The 2026 BMW X5 is offered in 5 trim levels: sDrive40i, xDrive40i, xDrive50e, M60i, and X5 M Competition.

Here's the short version:

• sDrive40i: This is the least expensive way into the X5 lineup and makes the most sense if you want the core X5 experience with rear-wheel drive and the lowest starting price. It is the value pick if you care more about the X5’s cabin, space, and driving feel than maximum equipment.
• xDrive40i: This is the best-value trim for most shoppers because it adds all-wheel drive while staying close to the entry-level formula. If you want the broadest balance of capability, efficiency, and everyday usability, this is the trim to start with.
• xDrive50e: This is the one to choose if you want the plug-in hybrid setup and the strongest efficiency story in the lineup. It is especially appealing if you can regularly charge at home and want AWD plus electric-only commuting range.
• M60i: This is the performance-focused choice, with the twin-turbo V8 and the most dramatic acceleration in the lineup. It suits you best if you want the X5 to feel genuinely quick and are willing to accept higher running costs.
• X5 M Competition: This is the top performance model for buyers who want the most aggressive version of the X5. It is the right pick only if you want maximum performance and are comfortable paying for it.

The standard safety equipment is generous, but many of the most advanced driver-assistance features remain optional.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2026 BMW X5?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, with enough inventory to shop carefully and enough pricing softness to create opportunities.

• Deal availability: 34.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 3,386 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 5.51% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 96.4% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $70,950, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2026 BMW X5's resale value?

The current average of $70,950 sits slightly below last year's $75,089.

That price movement suggests the market has cooled a bit, which can help you buy more selectively now. For a future seller, the current softness means resale value may depend more on trim, mileage, condition, and equipment than on broad market momentum.

Well-kept examples with desirable features should still hold attention because the X5 has strong brand appeal and broad shopper interest. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2026 BMW X5 safe?

The 2026 BMW X5 earns a Top Safety Pick+ rating from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety and a four-star overall rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, with four-star ratings for the driver and front passenger in a frontal impact collision.

It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.

The standard safety suite includes high-beam assist, forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keep assist, active blind-spot monitors, rear cross-traffic alert, a speed limit assistant, a driver monitoring system, a collision preparation system, post-collision braking, and parking sensors at the front, sides, and rear.

BMW packages more advanced driver assistance in the optional Driving Assistance Professional Package, which adds adaptive cruise control, lane-centering assist, lane-change assist, automatic emergency stop, evasive steering assist, and Highway Assistant for hands-free driving at speeds up to 85 mph. Some of those features can feel cautious or abrupt in use, and the hands-free function did not always behave as expected in testing.

Should I buy a 2026 BMW X5 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2026 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2026 if:

• 34.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is excellent at 96.4% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 5.51% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It combines strong road manners, a roomy cabin, and a broad powertrain lineup.

Consider the 2025 if:

• At $58,871, the 2025 costs less than the current year's $70,950 average.
• It offers multiple powertrain choices and strong handling.

The bottom line: If you want the newer model-year market with softer pricing and strong inventory quality, the 2026 is the better primary target. If your priority is spending less up front, the 2025 is the smarter path and still gives you the core X5 strengths.
