CarGurus Analysis: 2026 BMW 8 Series
Summary
With 243 currently listed for sale and an average price of $92,535, 36.2% of 2026 BMW 8 Series listings on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
97.1% of 2026 BMW 8 Series listings on CarGurus are accident free.
Why it stands out
The 2026 BMW 8 Series stands out as a luxury grand tourer that blends strong performance with a polished, high-tech cabin. It offers a comfortable but sporty ride and handling, and it also benefits from excellent rear passenger room. Those strengths make it appealing to buyers who want a car that feels upscale and capable without giving up everyday usability.
It is also distinctive for the breadth of its powertrain lineup. The available engines include a 3.0-liter inline-six with 394 horsepower, a 4.4-liter V8 with 536 hp, and plug-in hybrid versions rated at 483 hp and 560 hp. That range gives the 2026 BMW 8 Series a broad performance spread, while the mild-hybrid systems help support fuel economy. The tradeoffs are familiar for this class: options can be expensive, depreciation is high, and the turning circle is poor.

Is the 2026 BMW 8 Series reliable?
The 2026 BMW 8 Series is presented as a polished, high-tech luxury grand tourer with a comfortable but sporty ride and handling, plus excellent rear passenger room. Those traits point to a car that is built to deliver a refined ownership experience, especially if you value comfort and performance in the same package.
It also offers a broad range of powertrains, including mild-hybrid support, which helps balance performance and efficiency. The main ownership risk for used buyers is that expensive options and high depreciation can make long-term ownership more costly than the purchase price suggests.
What should I look for when buying a used 2026 BMW 8 Series?
Accident-free inventory is excellent at 97.1% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
You should still run a history report and verify that the car’s condition matches the listing photos and description. Prioritize a thorough inspection of wear items, electronics, and any signs of prior repair, since a luxury grand tourer can be expensive to sort out after the fact.
