How much does the 2025 Toyota Prius cost?

Prices have softened 7.70% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 1,440 listings available, which gives you a healthy amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2025 Toyota Prius a good car?

The 2025 Toyota Prius earns an expert rating of 6.7/10.

The standout strength is Safety at 10/10.

The Prius fits buyers who want a hybrid that still leans hard on fuel economy, while also adding stylish design and easy-to-use technology. The trade-offs are clear: real-world fuel economy can fall short of expectations, and the back seat and cargo area are both limited. Even so, the market still shows 37.6% of listings as good or great deals, which supports its appeal if you value efficiency and safety over space.

Is the 2025 Toyota Prius reliable?

The 2025 Toyota Prius is presented as a long-running hybrid nameplate with a strong reputation for efficiency, and the expert review emphasizes that it remains focused on the fuel-economy mission that made it famous. The powertrain is described as sprightly and capable of handling highway speeds and moderate traffic without strain.

Toyota also equips the Prius with Toyota Safety Sense 3.0, and the expert review notes that the system generally behaves as expected, with lane-centering and proactive driving assist working well overall. The review also points to a helpful safety and parking setup, including parking sensors and automatic low-speed braking.

For maintenance, the expert review does not add a specific service perk beyond the standard connected-services setup. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is that a neglected hybrid can be more expensive to sort out than a simpler gas car, so condition and service history matter.

What should I look for when buying a used 2025 Toyota Prius?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 89.4% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still check the report carefully, then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection that focuses on the hybrid system, brakes, tires, and any signs of curb damage. Because the Prius sits low and can be tricky to place in tight spaces, pay close attention to wheel and body condition, especially on cars with larger wheels.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The lineup includes LE, XLE, Nightshade Edition, and Limited. The base setup uses an 8-inch touchscreen, while the larger 12.3-inch screen is standard on Limited and optional on XLE and Nightshade Edition. The Nightshade Edition adds black 19-inch wheels, black exterior trim, and an exclusive Karashi paint color.
• Powertrain: The hybrid system pairs a 2.0-liter four-cylinder gas engine with an 83-kilowatt electric motor for 194 horsepower. AWD adds a second 30-kW rear electric motor and raises output to 196 hp.
• Safety package: Toyota Safety Sense 3.0 is standard, with forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning, lane-keeping assist, lane-centering assist, adaptive cruise control, automatic high-beam headlights, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and Proactive Driving Assist. A surround-view camera system is available on Limited.
• Infotainment: Toyota Audio Multimedia includes wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. An 8-inch touchscreen is standard on LE, XLE, and Nightshade Edition, while the Limited gets a 12.3-inch screen. The larger screen is optional on XLE and Nightshade Edition.
• Fuel efficiency: The expert review says the Prius Nightshade Edition was rated at 52 mpg combined, city, and highway by the EPA, but the test vehicle averaged 39.2 mpg in real-world driving.

Which 2025 Toyota Prius trim should I buy?

The 2025 Toyota Prius is offered in 4 trim levels: LE, XLE, Nightshade Edition, and Limited.

Here's the short version:

• LE: This is the entry point, and it gives you the core Prius experience with standard Toyota Safety Sense 3.0, wireless smartphone integration, and the 8-inch touchscreen. It makes the most sense if you want the lowest-cost way into the lineup.
• XLE: This is the best-value trim if you want a more upscale feel without jumping all the way to the top. It keeps the same core hybrid setup but opens the door to the larger touchscreen and more available equipment.
• Nightshade Edition: This is the style pick. It adds blacked-out exterior details, black 19-inch wheels, and the exclusive Karashi paint color, so it suits you if appearance matters as much as efficiency.
• Limited: This is the most fully equipped version, with the 12.3-inch touchscreen standard and the available surround-view camera system. Choose it if you want the most convenience and visibility aids.

Toyota Safety Sense 3.0 is standard across the lineup, and blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert is also standard.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2025 Toyota Prius?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you have room to shop carefully without rushing.

• Deal availability: 37.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,440 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.70% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 89.4% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $27,871, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2025 Toyota Prius's resale value?

The current average of $28,488 sits slightly below last year's $30,863.

That price movement suggests the Prius has softened enough to help you buy more selectively today. If you sell later, you may not get the same premium that stronger pricing supported a year ago.

For a future seller, the key question is whether the Prius keeps its reputation for efficiency and safety strong enough to stabilize demand. If it does, well-kept examples should still hold appeal, but the current trend shows you should not expect a rising-price market.

Is the 2025 Toyota Prius safe?

The 2025 Toyota Prius earns a coveted Top Safety Pick+ nod from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) and five-star ratings in all crashworthiness assessments from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), along with a four-star rating for rollover resistance.

It earns a 10/10 safety score from our experts.

Toyota Safety Sense 3.0 is standard, and it includes forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning, lane-keeping assist, lane-centering assist, adaptive cruise control, automatic high-beam headlights, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and Proactive Driving Assist. Front and rear parking sensors and automatic low-speed braking are also included on the test car, while a surround-view camera system is available on Limited.

Should I buy a 2025 Toyota Prius or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2025 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2025 if:

• 37.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 89.4% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.70% compared with last year.
• The 2025 adds a new Nightshade trim level with a blacked-out look.

Consider the 2024 if:

• At $29,326, the 2024 costs more than the current year's $28,488 average.
• It blends style, practicality, and affordability for everyday use.

The bottom line: Choose the 2025 if you want the newer styling update and better current pricing. If you’re more price-sensitive and want a strong everyday hybrid value, the 2024 still makes sense, but you’ll likely pay more for it.
