You should still run a vehicle history report and verify that the car’s maintenance records line up with its mileage and use. A pre-purchase inspection should focus on overall condition, signs of prior damage, and whether the car has been cared for consistently. Since most listings are clean, your best leverage comes from comparing condition closely rather than assuming every example is equal.

Should I buy a 2025 Toyota Prius Plug-In Hybrid or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2025 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2025 if:

• 34.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is excellent at 95.5% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.

Consider the 2026 if:

• It adds a Nightshade Edition and keeps the same efficient plug-in hybrid formula.

The bottom line: The 2025 is the better primary choice if you want to shop a year with solid deal availability and very clean inventory. If you’re price-sensitive and comparing closely, the 2026 is worth a look for its updated trim availability, but the 2025 remains the straightforward pick for most used-car shoppers.
