How much does the 2025 Toyota Prius cost?

Prices have softened 7.65% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 1,425 listings available, which gives you a solid amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2025 Toyota Prius a good car?

The 2025 Toyota Prius earns an expert rating of 6.67/10.

The standout strength is Safety at 10/10.

Toyota’s own summary points to a Prius that still centers on fuel economy, but now leans harder into style and technology than older versions did. That fits a buyer who wants a hybrid with a distinctive look and easy-to-use features, rather than just maximum efficiency.

The trade-offs are clear: real-world fuel economy fell short of the EPA estimate in testing, and the cabin is limited by a cramped back seat and not much cargo space.

At the market level, 44.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which suggests there are worthwhile opportunities if you shop carefully.

Is the 2025 Toyota Prius reliable?

The 2025 Toyota Prius is presented as a long-running hybrid nameplate with Toyota’s usual efficiency-and-reliability reputation behind it, and the expert review reinforces that it remains a familiar, well-developed hybrid package.

The hybrid powertrain combines a 2.0-liter four-cylinder gas engine with an electric motor, and Toyota’s TNGA platform is described as helping the car feel more responsive and enjoyable to drive. The expert review also notes that the Prius is sprightly and comfortable enough for highway use, which supports the idea of a mature, sorted drivetrain.

On the ownership side, the review highlights Toyota’s connected-services setup and says Service Connect and Safety Connect are available for up to 10 years at no charge, which is a useful ownership perk.

For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that the Prius’s efficiency advantage may not feel as strong in real-world driving as the EPA numbers suggest, so your ownership satisfaction may depend on whether you value style, tech, and hybrid familiarity as much as fuel savings.

What should I look for when buying a used 2025 Toyota Prius?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 89.2% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still check the report carefully, because a clean listing percentage does not replace a proper history review. Prioritize a pre-purchase inspection that focuses on the cabin, cargo area, and visibility-related features, since the Prius’s packaging and outward sightlines are part of the ownership experience. It also makes sense to confirm that the infotainment and driver-assistance systems work as expected, especially if the car has optional equipment.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The standard lineup includes LE, XLE, Nightshade Edition, and Limited. The base LE is the most stripped-down on tech, since the larger touchscreen is not standard there, while the Nightshade Edition adds black 19-inch wheels, black exterior trim, and exclusive Karashi paint.
• Powertrain: The hybrid setup uses a 2.0-liter four-cylinder gas engine and an electric motor for 194 horsepower, while AWD adds a second rear electric motor and raises output to 196 hp. The review says the car feels sprightly and zippy enough for highway merging and city driving.
• Safety package: Toyota Safety Sense 3.0 is standard and includes forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning, lane-keeping assist, lane-centering assist, adaptive cruise control, and automatic high-beam headlights. Blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert is also standard, while a surround-view camera is available on Limited.
• Infotainment: An 8-inch touchscreen is standard on LE, XLE, and Nightshade Edition, while Limited gets a 12.3-inch screen. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard, and Drive Connect adds native navigation, a voice assistant, Google points-of-interest data, and concierge access.
• Fuel efficiency: The review says the Prius Nightshade Edition was rated at 52 mpg combined by the EPA, but the test vehicle returned 39.2 mpg in real-world driving.

Which 2025 Toyota Prius trim should I buy?

The 2025 Toyota Prius is offered in 4 trim levels: LE, XLE, Nightshade Edition, and Limited.

Here's the short version:

• LE: This is the entry point, so it makes sense if you want the Prius experience at the lowest price and can live with the smaller standard 8-inch touchscreen.
• XLE: This is the best-value choice if you want a more complete daily driver, since it keeps the core Prius strengths while giving you access to more available equipment.
• Nightshade Edition: This is the style pick. It adds blacked-out exterior details and 19-inch wheels, so it suits you if appearance matters as much as efficiency.
• Limited: This is the most feature-rich version, and it is the one to choose if you want the larger 12.3-inch touchscreen and the most upscale tech setup.

Toyota Safety Sense 3.0 is standard across the lineup, so you do not need to move up a trim just to get the core driver-assistance package.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2025 Toyota Prius?

This is a buyer-friendly moment if you are shopping the 2025 Prius, because pricing has eased and there is enough inventory to compare before you commit.

• Deal availability: 44.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,425 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.65% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 89.2% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $27,867, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2025 Toyota Prius's resale value?

The current average of $28,555 sits slightly below last year's $30,919.

That price movement suggests the Prius has softened enough to help you buy more selectively today. If you plan to sell later, the current market points to a model that is still in demand, but not immune to broader hybrid competition and shifting buyer expectations.

For you, that means resale should remain respectable if you keep mileage and condition in check. It also means the strongest future value will likely go to well-kept examples with desirable equipment and clean history.

Is the 2025 Toyota Prius safe?

The 2025 Toyota Prius earns a coveted Top Safety Pick+ nod from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) and earns five-star ratings in all crashworthiness assessments from NHTSA, along with a four-star rating for rollover resistance.

It earns a 10/10 safety score from our experts.

Toyota Safety Sense 3.0 is standard, and it includes forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning, lane-keeping assist, lane-centering assist, adaptive cruise control, and automatic high-beam headlights. Blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert is also standard, and the review notes that Proactive Driving Assist can automatically brake and steer to help maintain safe following distances.

The review also points out that lane-centering can feel somewhat argumentative on curving roads and can briefly lose its bearings near freeway ramps. Even so, the Prius still comes across as a very strong safety choice overall.

Should I buy a 2025 Toyota Prius or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2025 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2025 if:

• 44.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 89.2% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.65% compared with last year.
• Toyota adds a new Nightshade trim level with a blacked-out look, giving the Prius a more distinctive appearance.

Consider the 2024 if:

• At $29,374, the 2024 costs more than the current year's $28,555 average.
• It blends style, practicality, and affordability for everyday use.

The 2025 is the better pick if you want the lower average price and the updated Nightshade look. If you are mainly chasing value and want a Prius that still feels easy to recommend for daily driving, the 2024 remains a sensible alternative, but the 2025 is the stronger buy for shoppers focused on current-market pricing.
