Used 2025 Subaru Outback for Sale nearSioux Falls, SD

How much does the 2025 Subaru Outback cost?

Prices have softened 7.86% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 6,873 listings available, which suggests you should have a healthy range of choices.

Is the 2025 Subaru Outback a good car?

Yes — the 2025 Subaru Outback earns a 4.5/5 user rating and a 7.5/10 expert rating.

The standout strength is Safety at 9/10.

It stands out as a rugged wagon in a crossover-heavy market, and it remains one of the last station wagons you can buy. That gives you a practical, distinctive alternative if you want everyday utility without blending into the crowd. The tradeoff is that the base engine is underwhelming and the touchscreen response is sluggish, so the Outback makes more sense if you value comfort, confidence, and character over tech polish or quick acceleration.

The model’s 37.6% good and great deal share suggests there are still worthwhile listings to find.

Is the 2025 Subaru Outback reliable?

Owners rate it 4.5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The Outback’s appeal is built around straightforward strengths: a good ride, standard all-wheel drive, and strong safety ratings. Those traits point to a vehicle that should feel reassuring in daily use, especially if you want a comfortable, confidence-inspiring family hauler. Its standard Boxer engine and AWD setup are part of a proven formula, and the overall package is aimed at buyers who want practicality more than flash.

The first scheduled maintenance visit is on the house.

For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that the base powertrain and infotainment may feel dated sooner than the rest of the vehicle.

What should I look for when buying a used 2025 Subaru Outback?

Accident-free inventory is excellent at 92.6% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.

You should still run a vehicle history report and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if you’re considering a higher-mileage example. Focus on overall condition, interior wear, and how smoothly the touchscreen and driver-assist systems operate. If you’re shopping trims with more equipment, make sure the added features work as intended and haven’t been neglected.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: Base and Premium trims use cloth upholstery and 17-inch wheels, while Onyx and Wilderness models get easy-to-clean StarTex synthetic leather. The Limited trim adds a power moonroof, DriverFocus anti-distraction tech, navigation, a 360-degree heated steering wheel, an 11.6-inch infotainment system, leather interior, and heated seats front and rear. Touring XT adds Nappa leather upholstery and ventilated front seats.
• Powertrain: The standard 2.5-liter four-cylinder makes 182 horsepower and 176 pound-feet of torque, while XT models use a turbocharged 2.4-liter engine with 260 hp and 277 lb-ft of torque. Both versions run on regular unleaded gas, and the turbo setup is the better choice if you want stronger acceleration.
• Safety package: Subaru’s EyeSight driver-assist technology includes adaptive cruise control with lane centering, forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane-keep assist, and automatic emergency steering. Onyx and higher trims also add blind-spot monitoring with lane-change assist and rear cross-traffic alert.
• Infotainment: Most Outbacks use an 11.6-inch touchscreen, while base models get twin 7-inch displays. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are included, wireless unless you have the base model’s twin 7-inch displays. The system can be slow to respond, especially at startup.
• Fuel efficiency: The base 2.5-liter model earns 26 mpg city, 32 mpg highway, and 28 mpg combined. Turbocharged XT models drop to 22 mpg city, 29 mpg highway, and 25 mpg combined. The Wilderness model returns 21 mpg city, 26 mpg highway, and 23 mpg combined.

Which 2025 Subaru Outback trim should I buy?

The 2025 Subaru Outback is offered in 6 trim levels: Base, Premium, Onyx Edition, Wilderness, Limited, and Touring.

Here's the short version:

• Base: This is the entry point if you want the Outback’s core strengths at the lowest cost, including standard all-wheel drive and the wagon’s practical shape. It makes sense if you care more about value and utility than extra comfort or tech.
• Premium: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it builds on the base model without pushing too far up the price ladder. It’s the trim to target if you want a more rounded daily driver without jumping into the pricier equipment tiers.
• Onyx Edition: This trim adds the easy-to-clean StarTex synthetic leather and brings the extra safety tech that comes with higher trims, including blind-spot monitoring with lane-change assist and rear cross-traffic alert. It suits you if you want a more rugged-feeling cabin and extra confidence features.
• Wilderness: This is the one to choose if you want the most adventure-ready Outback, with 9.5 inches of ground clearance, a front skid plate, and extra X-Mode settings. It’s the clear pick for serious outdoor use.
• Limited: This trim is the sweet spot if you want a more upscale Outback without going all the way to the top. The added moonroof, navigation, DriverFocus tech, heated steering wheel, leather interior, and heated seats make it feel meaningfully richer.
• Touring: This is the most luxurious version, and Touring XT adds Nappa leather and ventilated front seats. Choose it if comfort and premium features matter more to you than value.

On the safety side, higher trims add blind-spot monitoring with lane-change assist and rear cross-traffic alert.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2025 Subaru Outback?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully without expecting every listing to be a bargain.

• Deal availability: 37.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 6,873 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.86% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 92.6% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $31,110, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2025 Subaru Outback's resale value?

The current average of $31,110 sits slightly below last year's $33,763.

That price movement suggests the Outback has softened enough to create a better buying opportunity now, but it also means future sellers may need to be realistic about pricing. If you buy at the current average or below, you may have less room for appreciation later, especially if the market continues to favor newer redesigns. Still, the Outback’s distinctive wagon identity and broad appeal should help it remain recognizable to used buyers.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2025 Subaru Outback safe?

The 2025 Outback earns a Top Safety Pick designation from IIHS and a five-star overall safety rating from NHTSA.

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

Subaru’s EyeSight driver-assist technology uses two cameras and includes adaptive cruise control with lane centering, forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane-keep assist, and automatic emergency steering. Onyx and higher trims also add blind-spot monitoring with lane-change assist and rear cross-traffic alert. The system works well overall, though it can make more side-to-side corrections than you may want, and DriverFocus can occasionally issue false alerts.

Should I buy a 2025 Subaru Outback or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2025 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2025 if:

• 37.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is excellent at 92.6% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.86% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It remains one of the last remaining station wagons, giving you a distinctive alternative to crossovers.

Consider the 2024 if:

• At $28,117, the 2024 costs less than the current year's $31,110 average.
• It offers a broad trim range with higher ride height and excellent visibility.

Consider the 2026 if:

• It is all-new and shifts to a more SUV-like shape while keeping wagon practicality.

The bottom line: If you want the current Outback’s distinctive wagon character and a strong mix of comfort, safety, and utility, the 2025 is the one to target. If price matters most, the 2024 is the smarter value play. If you’d rather wait for the redesigned direction, the 2026 points to a more SUV-like future.
