Used 2025 RAM 2500 for Sale near Illinois

How much does the 2025 RAM 2500 cost?

Prices have softened 13.26% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 6,567 listings available, which suggests healthy inventory for shoppers comparing trims and configurations.

Is the 2025 RAM 2500 a good car?

Yes — the 2025 RAM 2500 earns a 5/5 user rating and an 8.17/10 expert rating. The model scores 9/10 across Performance and Form and function.

It stands out as a heavy-duty pickup that blends serious work capability with a surprising amount of luxury and refinement. The truck is described as a meaningful upgrade to one of America’s most capable trucks, and it continues to impress buyers who want a truck that can handle demanding jobs while still feeling more polished than many rivals in the segment.

The tradeoffs are clear: advanced safety features are not standard, and the truck can get expensive fast. Even so, its powerful engine, impressive towing capabilities, and excellent off-road ability make it especially compelling if you need a serious heavy-duty truck for hauling and hard use.

Only 36.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals, so you may need to shop carefully to find the best value.

Is the 2025 RAM 2500 reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The 2025 RAM 2500 is presented as immensely durable, which is exactly the kind of trait you want in a heavy-duty pickup that may spend its life towing, hauling, and working hard. The expert assessment also emphasizes that Ram HD trucks are invaluable to owners who need that durability, and the truck’s broad usefulness supports confidence for demanding ownership.

Its powertrain lineup is built around proven heavy-duty hardware, including a standard 6.4-liter Hemi V8 and an available heavily revised turbocharged 6.7-liter inline-six diesel with High Output tuning. Ram also notes that the diesel now comes standard in High Output spec for 2025, which reinforces the truck’s focus on serious capability.

For used buyers, the main long-term risk is cost: a truck this capable can also be expensive to maintain and repair if it has been worked hard.

What should I look for when buying a used 2025 RAM 2500?

Accident-free inventory is excellent at 93.3% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.

You should still run a vehicle history report and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the truck was used for towing, hauling, or off-road driving. Focus on wear items that can reveal hard use, and pay close attention to trim-specific equipment, since safety and convenience features vary a lot by configuration.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The entry Tradesman comes standard in cheap-looking black plastic, while the popular Laramie trim level is where the luxury bits really start to appear. The 4x4-only Power Wagon and Rebel also wear black up front with a premium finish and unique grille design, and the Limited Longhorn and Limited move further into upscale territory with more distinctive interiors and materials.
• Powertrain: The standard powertrain is a 6.4-liter Hemi V8 with 405 horsepower and 429 pound-feet of torque, and a heavily revised turbocharged 6.7-liter inline-six diesel is available with 430 hp and 1,075 lb-ft of torque. The diesel’s High Output tuning is the biggest single upgrade for 2025.
• Safety package: An optional Safety Group can be added to Tradesman and Big Horn trucks and includes adaptive steering, blind-spot monitoring with trailer coverage, pedestrian detection, and rear cross path detection. Those features are standard on higher trim levels, and additional packages add forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, and lane keep assist.
• Infotainment: An 8.4-inch touchscreen comes standard on the two lowest trims, while a 12-inch screen is standard on Power Wagon, Rebel, and Laramie. The biggest 14.4-inch screen is standard on the two upper-crust trims, and Ram also offers wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto with the 12-inch touchscreen in the Level 2 Equipment Group.
• Fuel efficiency: No MPG or MPGe figure is stated in the provided data.

Which 2025 RAM 2500 trim should I buy?

The 2025 RAM 2500 is offered in 6 trim levels: Tradesman, Big Horn, Power Wagon, Rebel, Laramie, Limited Longhorn, Limited.

Here's the short version:

• Tradesman: This is the work-focused starting point, and it makes the most sense if you want the lowest entry price and plan to add the equipment you need. The Level 2 Equipment Group can bring in useful upgrades like the 12-inch touchscreen, navigation, a nicer cloth interior, and the Safety Group, which makes this trim a smart value for buyers who want a work truck without feeling stripped down.
• Big Horn: This trim is the logical step up if you want more comfort and convenience than the Tradesman while still keeping the truck grounded in practical use. It can also be paired with the Safety Group, which helps close the gap on standard driver-assistance content.
• Power Wagon: This is the off-road specialist, with electronic locking front and rear differentials and a disconnecting sway bar. It is only offered with the Hemi V8, and it is the best fit if trail capability matters more than maximum towing flexibility.
• Rebel: This is the better choice for off-roaders who also need to tow heavy loads regularly. It keeps the rugged character but is positioned as the more versatile off-road option compared with the Power Wagon.
• Laramie: This is the best-value luxury pick if you want the truck to feel meaningfully more upscale without jumping all the way to the top. It adds leather seating surfaces, a 12.3-inch digital cluster, and the 12-inch touchscreen, making it the sweet spot for many shoppers.
• Limited Longhorn: Choose this if you want the most distinctive cowboy-themed interior, with two-tone brown treatment and filigree accents. It is the more expressive luxury choice.
• Limited: This is the top-end understated luxury trim, with open-pore wood and supple leather upholstery. It is the right pick if you want the most refined version of the truck without the Longhorn’s themed styling.

Park assist sensors are included on all but the base Tradesman trim level, and the Safety Group plus other packages add the active safety technology you’ll probably want to have.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2025 RAM 2500?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you have room to compare listings and wait for the right truck.

• Deal availability: 36.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 6,567 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 13.26% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 93.3% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $53,688, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2025 RAM 2500's resale value?

The current average of $56,588 sits slightly below last year's $65,239.

That price decline suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you buy more affordably now but may also limit upside if you plan to resell soon. For a future seller, the current trend means you should expect pricing pressure unless your truck has especially desirable equipment, low miles, or a sought-after trim.

The good news is that strong demand for capable heavy-duty trucks can help support values over time, especially for well-kept examples with the right powertrain and equipment. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2025 RAM 2500 safe?

The 2025 RAM 2500 earns a four-star rating from NHTSA.

It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.

Ram offers a comprehensive package of modern safety technologies, but they are not standard across the board. An optional Safety Group can be added to Tradesman and Big Horn trucks and includes adaptive steering, blind-spot monitoring with conventional trailer coverage, pedestrian detection, and rear cross path detection, all of which are standard on higher trim levels.

Additional packages add forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, and lane keep assist. Park assist sensors are also included on all but the base Tradesman trim level, and Ram also offers optional surround-view and Cargo View camera systems across the lineup.

The main caveat is that advanced safety features are not standard, so you need to pay attention to trim and package content if safety tech matters to you.

Should I buy a 2025 RAM 2500 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2025 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2025 if:

• 36.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is excellent at 93.3% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 13.26% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2025 brings a heavily revised diesel with High Output tuning and a new eight-speed automatic transmission.

Consider the 2026 if:

• It adds a few noteworthy updates and an intriguing new pair of trim levels.

The bottom line: If you want the strongest mix of current pricing, broad inventory, and the 2025 model’s major diesel and refinement upgrades, the 2025 is the primary path to consider. If you’re price-sensitive and find a well-equipped truck at a compelling discount, the 2025 still looks especially attractive right now.
