Is the 2025 Mercedes-Benz GLE a good car?

The 2025 Mercedes-Benz GLE is a well-rounded luxury SUV if you want family-friendly practicality with a premium feel, though its strengths and compromises are both clear. It earns a 3/5 user rating and a 7.5/10 expert rating.

The standout strength is Technology at 9/10.

Mercedes gives you multiple body styles and multiple powertrain options, and the cabin is a highlight thanks to its stylish interior and upscale presentation. The trade-offs are just as important: the styling can feel ungainly, it drives bigger than it looks, and outward visibility is poor.

That combination makes the GLE appealing if you want Mercedes luxury in a practical package, and 35.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.

Is the 2025 Mercedes-Benz GLE reliable?

The 2025 Mercedes-Benz GLE is positioned as a mainstream Mercedes luxury SUV with a broad range of powertrains and a strong feature set, which supports its appeal for long-term use. Its expert rating includes a 7/10 for cost effectiveness and an 8/10 for safety, and the powertrain lineup spans efficient and high-output options.

The performance coverage emphasizes a wide spread of engines, from the turbo-four to the inline-six, plug-in hybrid, V8, and AMG variants, so you can choose the setup that best fits your needs. Mercedes also notes that the GLE lineup includes a plug-in hybrid with up to 50 miles of electric range and a turbo-four rated at a reasonable 23 mpg combined.

Mercedes includes a four-year/50,000-mile new-vehicle warranty, which helps with early ownership confidence. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that higher-complexity versions can bring higher running costs as mileage climbs.

What should I look for when buying a used 2025 Mercedes-Benz GLE?

Accident-free inventory is excellent at 94.9% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.

You should still run a vehicle history report and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if you are considering a higher-trim or more heavily optioned example. Focus on condition, maintenance records, and whether the equipment you want is actually present on the specific listing.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The GLE lineup includes multiple body styles and multiple powertrain options, and the cabin can be especially appealing thanks to its stylish interior and available Manufaktur personalization. Base versions are the ones most likely to leave you wanting more if you care about the richest interior presentation.
• Powertrain: You can choose from a turbo-four, turbo-six, plug-in hybrid, V8, and AMG performance variants, so efficiency and performance vary widely across the range. The turbo-four is the efficiency-minded choice, while the higher-output engines are for buyers who want more power.
• Safety package: Standard equipment includes forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring with exit assist, crosswind assist, parking assist, a driver attention monitor, a 360-degree camera system, and Pre-Safe. Adaptive cruise control is part of the optional Driver Assistance Package, which also adds stop-and-go functionality, lane-change assist, evasive steering assist, and expanded driver monitoring.
• Infotainment: The standard setup uses dual 12.3-inch screens, and MBUX includes wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto plus built-in navigation. The interface can be busy, so make sure the controls and voice system work the way you expect.
• Fuel efficiency: The lineup includes a plug-in hybrid with up to 50 miles of electric range and 23 mpg combined, while the turbo-four is rated at 23 mpg combined, or 22 mpg combined with AWD.

Which 2025 Mercedes-Benz GLE trim should I buy?

The 2025 Mercedes-Benz GLE is offered in 6 trim levels: GLE 350, GLE 450 4Matic, GLE 450e 4Matic, GLE 580 4Matic, AMG GLE 53 4Matic+, AMG GLE 63 S 4Matic+.

Here's the short version:

• GLE 350: This is the entry point and the best-value choice if you want the GLE experience without chasing extra power. It gives you the core luxury-SUV formula and is the trim most likely to make sense if you care about keeping costs in check.
• GLE 450 4Matic: This is the sweet spot for many shoppers because it adds the smooth inline-six and standard AWD, which should make it feel more refined and capable than the base model. If you want the most balanced mix of performance and everyday usability, this is the one to target.
• GLE 450e 4Matic: Choose this if you want the plug-in hybrid setup and the strongest efficiency story in the lineup. It is the trim to consider if you can take advantage of electric driving for short trips.
• GLE 580 4Matic: This is for you if you want V8 power and a more serious performance feel without going all the way to AMG territory. It suits buyers who want extra muscle and are willing to pay for it.
• AMG GLE 53 4Matic+: This is the performance-focused choice if you want quicker acceleration and a more aggressive character. It makes sense if driving enjoyment matters more than value.
• AMG GLE 63 S 4Matic+: This is the top performance pick for buyers who want the most power and the most dramatic version of the GLE. It is the one to choose if you want the flagship experience and are comfortable with the cost.

The safety package is broad, but adaptive cruise control remains part of the optional Driver Assistance Package rather than standard equipment.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2025 Mercedes-Benz GLE?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile listings.

• Deal availability: 35.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 4,697 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 11.15% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 94.9% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $61,220, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2025 Mercedes-Benz GLE's resale value?

The current average of $61,230 sits slightly below last year's $68,914.

That decline suggests the market has already moved lower, which can help you as a buyer today. For a future seller, it means resale value may be more sensitive to mileage, condition, and equipment than it would be in a rising-price market.

If you buy well and keep the vehicle in strong condition, you should be better positioned when it is time to sell. Higher-trim or better-equipped examples may hold appeal, but the broader market trend still points to softer pricing.

Is the 2025 Mercedes-Benz GLE safe?

The 2025 Mercedes-Benz GLE earns a 2025 Top Safety Pick+ from the IIHS.

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

Standard safety equipment includes forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring with exit assist, crosswind assist, parking assist, a driver attention monitor, a 360-degree camera system, and Pre-Safe. Adaptive cruise control is not standard; it is part of the optional Driver Assistance Package, which also adds stop-and-go functionality, lane-change assist, evasive steering assist, a cross-traffic function for automatic emergency braking, and expanded driver monitoring.

The front-crash prevention tech received only “Marginal” and “Acceptable” ratings in standard and optional forms, respectively, so that is the main caveat to keep in mind.

Should I buy a 2025 Mercedes-Benz GLE or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2025 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2025 if:

• 35.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is excellent at 94.9% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 11.15% compared with last year.
• Mercedes added two new configurations for 2025, along with several new paint colors.

Consider the 2024 if:

• At $55,423, the 2024 costs less than the current year's $61,230 average.
• It adds a facelift with an upgraded interior and infotainment system.

Consider the 2026 if:

• At $69,176, the 2026 costs more than the current year's $61,230 average.
• It adds a standard AMG Line exterior on the six-cylinder model and a new Manufaktur Edition.

The bottom line: The 2025 is the better pick if you want the newest version with strong inventory and softer pricing. If you are more price-sensitive, the 2024 is the smarter value play because it delivers much of the same core appeal for less.
