How much does the 2025 Mazda CX-90 cost?

Prices have softened 19.00% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 3,974 listings available, which gives you a solid pool of inventory to compare.

Is the 2025 Mazda CX-90 a good car?

The 2025 Mazda CX-90 earns a 6.2/10 expert rating and stands out in the midsize three-row SUV class by offering unusual powertrain choices, a stylish design, and premium interior materials.

The standout strength is Safety at 9/10.

It’s a strong fit if you want a family-size SUV that feels more upscale and more engaging to drive than many rivals. The trade-offs are a base engine that feels underwhelming and unintuitive technology.

Good and great deals account for 40.8% of listings, which suggests you have room to shop carefully.

Is the 2025 Mazda CX-90 reliable?

The 2025 Mazda CX-90 is presented as a polished three-row SUV with strong safety credentials and a premium feel, but its powertrain refinement is not one of its strengths.

The expert evaluation notes that the drivetrain can feel unpredictable before it warms up, and it also calls out unwanted engine surge and delayed response in some situations. The performance notes also point to a lack of isolation from noise and impact harshness, which can make the SUV feel less refined than its upscale design suggests.

On the plus side, the CX-90’s safety equipment is extensive, and the available driver aids are described as effective overall. If you’re buying used, the main long-term ownership risk is that the vehicle’s fussy controls and refinement issues may be more noticeable over time than its premium appearance suggests.

What should I look for when buying a used 2025 Mazda CX-90?

Accident-free inventory is excellent at 91.3% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.

You should still run a history report and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if you’re considering a higher-mileage example or one with larger wheels. Focus on cabin condition, control ergonomics, and how smoothly the drivetrain responds from a cold start.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: Mazda sells three variants of the 2025 CX-90: the 3.3 Turbo, the 3.3 Turbo S, and the PHEV. Depending on your choice, trim levels can include Select, Preferred, Premium, Premium Sport, and Premium Plus. The base setup gets the upscale look and feel, but the more expensive trims add more of the safety and convenience equipment that helps the CX-90 feel fully premium.
• Powertrain: The 3.3 Turbo uses a turbocharged 3.3-liter inline six with 280 horsepower and 332 pound-feet of torque, while the 3.3 Turbo S raises output to 319 hp and 369 lb-ft, or 340 hp on premium gas. The power flows through an eight-speed automatic and standard AWD, and the plug-in hybrid adds 25 miles of electric range.
• Safety package: The CX-90 includes forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, lane departure warning, lane keeping assist, adaptive cruise control, automatic high-beam headlights, and a vehicle exit warning system. Higher trims add steering assist to blind-spot monitoring, emergency lane-keeping assist, front cross-traffic alert, front and rear parking sensors, and a surround-view camera system.
• Infotainment: A 12.3-inch digital instrumentation panel pairs with a 12.3-inch infotainment screen. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto allow touch operation, but the native Mazda Connect system relies on the center-console knob and buttons.
• Fuel efficiency: The official EPA rating for both the 3.3 Turbo and 3.3 Turbo S is 25 mpg combined. The plug-in hybrid is rated at 25 miles of electric range and the same 25 mpg combined after that.

Which 2025 Mazda CX-90 trim should I buy?

The 2025 Mazda CX-90 is offered in 5 trim levels: Select, Preferred, Premium, Premium Sport, and Premium Plus.

Here's the short version:

• Select: This is the entry point if you want the CX-90’s style, safety, and standard AWD without stretching the budget. It makes sense if you value the core package more than extra luxury touches.
• Preferred: This is the best-value trim if you want a more complete everyday experience without jumping too far up the price ladder. It should be the first stop for most used shoppers.
• Premium: This is the sweet spot if you want a stronger upscale feel and more of the CX-90’s premium character without going all the way to the top.
• Premium Sport: Choose this if you want a more distinctive appearance and a richer feature mix while staying within the mainstream of the lineup.
• Premium Plus: This is the one to target if you want the most luxurious presentation and the most fully equipped version of the CX-90.

Mazda adds more safety equipment as you move up the trim ladder, including steering assist, emergency lane-keeping assist, front cross-traffic alert, parking sensors, and a surround-view camera system.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2025 Mazda CX-90?

This is a buyer-friendly market for the 2025 Mazda CX-90, with pricing down and inventory broad enough to give you leverage.

• Deal availability: 40.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 3,974 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 19.00% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 91.3% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $32,611, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2025 Mazda CX-90's resale value?

The current average of $32,611 sits slightly below last year's $40,261.

That drop suggests the CX-90 has become more affordable for used buyers, which can help you enter the market at a lower cost. For a future seller, though, it also means you should expect softer resale conditions than when the model was newer.

If you buy well and keep the vehicle in strong condition, you can still protect value better than a neglected example. The safest path is to focus on trim, mileage, and condition rather than assuming the badge alone will hold price.

Is the 2025 Mazda CX-90 safe?

The 2025 Mazda CX-90 earns a Top Safety Pick+ rating from IIHS and five-star ratings in all crash tests conducted by NHTSA, along with a four-star rollover resistance rating.

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

Mazda makes a long list of driver aids standard, including forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, lane departure warning, lane keeping assist, adaptive cruise control, automatic high-beam headlights, and a vehicle exit warning system. Higher trims add steering assist, emergency lane-keeping assist, front cross-traffic alert, front and rear parking sensors, and a surround-view camera system.

Cruising and Traffic Support is available on higher trims as a hands-on highway aid with lane-centering assist. The main caveat is that it can be overly reactive in some situations and may reduce speed more than you want.

Should I buy a 2025 Mazda CX-90 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2025 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2025 if:

• 40.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is excellent at 91.3% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 19.00% compared with last year.
• The 2025 stands out for its unusual powertrains, premium interior, and strong safety ratings.

Consider the 2024 if:

• At $30,208, the 2024 costs less than the current year's $32,611 average.
• It emphasizes engaging handling and a more driver-focused character.

Consider the 2026 if:

• It adds minor updates that unify the lineup.
• It keeps the premium look, strong safety, and enjoyable driving character.

The bottom line: You should start with the 2025 if you want the best mix of price, safety, and availability. If you’re especially price-sensitive, the 2024 is the smarter value play, while the 2026 makes sense if you want the latest minor updates and don’t mind paying more.
