There are 6,090 listings available, which gives you a solid amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2025 Mazda CX-50 a good car?

Yes — the 2025 Mazda CX-50 earns a 5/5 user rating and a 6.5/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Look and feel at 8/10.

It stands out as a compact SUV that blends style, driving enjoyment, and efficiency, with attractive styling and a near-luxury interior that help it feel more upscale than many rivals. The trade-offs are limited passenger and cargo space, plus technology that is described as outdated.

The CX-50’s sporty character and refined cabin make the most sense if you value design and driving feel over maximum practicality. 36.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which suggests there are still worthwhile opportunities in the market.

Is the 2025 Mazda CX-50 reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The CX-50 is presented as a well-rounded compact SUV with a strong mix of style, efficiency, and driving enjoyment. Its hybrid powertrain adds fuel efficiency to the mix, and the expert evaluation notes that the systems functioned as designed with no false alarms.

The powertrain is described as a smart move because it uses a proven hybrid system, and the adaptive cruise control is noted for smooth acceleration and stops. If you’re buying used, the main long-term ownership risk is that the CX-50’s limited space and older-feeling tech may matter more as the miles add up.

What should I look for when buying a used 2025 Mazda CX-50?

Accident-free inventory is excellent at 92.3% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.

You should still run a history report and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if you’re shopping for a higher-mileage example. Focus on cabin condition, rear-seat usability, and cargo-area wear, since those are the areas most likely to affect day-to-day satisfaction.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The cabin leans upscale with classier materials, distinct stitching, and red leather upholstery on the hybrid model, but the traditional layout and decorative seat stripe may not appeal to everyone.
• Powertrain: The hybrid uses a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine with three electric motors, 219 horsepower, all-wheel drive, and an e-CVT; it’s tuned for smooth, efficient driving rather than serious off-road use.
• Safety package: Standard equipment includes frontal collision warning with automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic warning, lane-keep assist, adaptive cruise control, a rear passenger reminder, a driver attention monitor, and safe exit alerts.
• Infotainment: The dashboard-mounted 10.25-inch system uses a center-console dial controller, with touchscreen functionality limited to Apple CarPlay and Android Auto; wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard, and a wireless charging pad requires at least the Premium trim.
• Fuel efficiency: The hybrid is estimated at 38 mpg combined, compared with 28 mpg for the standard engine.

Which 2025 Mazda CX-50 trim should I buy?

The 2025 Mazda CX-50 is offered in 3 trim levels: Preferred, Premium, and Premium Plus.

Here's the short version:

• Preferred: This is the entry point, and it makes the CX-50’s style, driving feel, and standard safety equipment accessible without stretching your budget. It’s the trim to start with if you want the core CX-50 experience.
• Premium: This is the best-value trim if you want the most meaningful upgrade, because it adds the wireless charging pad and the 12-speaker Bose premium audio system. It suits you if you want a more upscale daily driver without going all the way to the top.
• Premium Plus: Choose this if you want the most fully equipped version and are willing to pay for it. It’s the trim for shoppers who want the richest feature set and don’t mind spending more for it.

All trims include the same core driver-assistance suite, so you don’t need to move up just to get the main safety features.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2025 Mazda CX-50?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you have room to shop carefully.

• Deal availability: 36.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 6,090 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 10.44% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 92.3% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $28,361, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2025 Mazda CX-50's resale value?

The current average of $28,361 sits slightly below last year's $31,667.

That price movement suggests the CX-50 has become more buyer-friendly, which can make it easier for future sellers to attract attention if pricing is competitive. A softer market today can also mean less immediate upside for resale, so condition and trim choice matter more when you eventually sell.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2025 Mazda CX-50 safe?

The 2025 Mazda CX-50 Hybrid earns five-star ratings in all NHTSA tests except rollover protection, where it earns a four-star rating.

It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.

Standard driver assistance includes frontal collision warning with automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic warning, lane-keep assist, and adaptive cruise control. It also adds a rear passenger reminder, driver attention monitor, and safe exit alerts.

The main caveat is that the available crash-test information cited here is for the hybrid, while the non-hybrid model’s IIHS results are referenced as a benchmark rather than current test data for this year.

Should I buy a 2025 Mazda CX-50 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2025 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2025 if:

• 36.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is excellent at 92.3% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 10.44% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The hybrid powertrain adds fuel efficiency to an already sporty SUV.

Consider the 2024 if:

• At $27,556, the 2024 costs less than the current year's $28,361 average.
• It emphasizes rugged styling and standard all-wheel drive.

Consider the 2026 if:

• It adds gas, turbocharged gas, or hybrid powertrains with standard all-wheel drive.

The bottom line: If you want the strongest mix of style, efficiency, and market availability, the 2025 is the better all-around pick. If your priority is spending less, the 2024 is the value play, while the 2026 makes sense if you want the latest version of the same formula.
