Is the 2025 Mazda CX-50 a good car?

Yes — the 2025 Mazda CX-50 earns a 5/5 user rating and a 6.5/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Look and feel at 8/10.

Mazda positions it as a compact SUV that blends style, driving enjoyment, and efficiency, and the expert notes call it one of the better compact SUVs in the class. The near-luxury interior and attractive styling help it feel more upscale than many rivals, while the sporty tuning makes it more engaging to drive than a typical family crossover.

The trade-offs are limited rear-seat space and not much cargo space, so it fits you best if you value polish and driving feel over maximum utility. The market also looks healthy, with 41.7% of listings marked as good or great deals.

Is the 2025 Mazda CX-50 reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The CX-50 is described as a polished, well-rounded compact SUV with a strong mix of style and efficiency, and the expert notes emphasize that the hybrid powertrain adds fuel efficiency to an already sporty package. The performance notes also point to quick throttle response and a powertrain designed to feel familiar and smooth in everyday driving.

On the cost side, the hybrid setup is presented as a smart move because it improves fuel economy enough to help offset its price premium over time. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is that the same strengths that make it appealing — sporty tuning and upscale features — can come with tighter space and more complexity than a simpler commuter SUV.

What should I look for when buying a used 2025 Mazda CX-50?

You should still run a vehicle history report and verify that the specific listing matches the condition you expect from the photos and description. Prioritize a pre-purchase inspection if you want to confirm that the drivetrain, brakes, and electronics are in good shape. Focus especially on cabin wear, cargo-area condition, and any signs that the vehicle has been used harder than average.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The cabin is described as more traditional than some rivals, but it uses classier materials, soft-touch surfaces, and distinct stitching to create a more upscale feel. The hybrid model also gets red leather upholstery, while base trims come with a basic eight-speaker audio system.
• Powertrain: The hybrid setup uses a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine with three electric motors, 219 horsepower, 163 lb-ft of torque, and AWD. It is tuned for quick response and engaging handling rather than serious off-road use.
• Safety package: Standard driver assistance includes frontal collision warning with automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic warning, lane-keep assist, and adaptive cruise control. It also adds a rear passenger reminder, driver attention monitor, and safe exit alerts.
• Infotainment: The CX-50 uses a 10.25-inch horizontal infotainment screen with a center-console dial controller. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard, while a wireless charging pad requires at least the Premium trim.
• Fuel efficiency: The hybrid is estimated at 38 mpg combined, compared with 28 mpg for the standard engine.
