What should I look for when buying a used 2025 Mazda CX-50?

Accident-free inventory is excellent at 93.1% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.

You should still run a vehicle history report and verify that the specific car you’re considering has a clean title and consistent service records. A pre-purchase inspection is worth prioritizing, especially if you’re comparing multiple listings with similar prices. Focus your inspection on interior wear, cargo-area condition, and any signs that the vehicle has been used harder than average.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The cabin is described as more upscale than many rivals, with classier materials, soft-touch surfaces, and red leather upholstery exclusive to the hybrid model. The base trim comes with a basic audio system, while the Premium trim adds a 12-speaker Bose system and a wireless charging pad.
• Powertrain: The hybrid uses a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine with three electric motors, making 219 horsepower and 163 lb-ft of torque with AWD. It is tuned for quick response and better efficiency, and it sits between the base engine and the Turbo models in the lineup.
• Safety package: Standard driver assistance includes frontal collision warning with automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic warning, lane-keep assist, and adaptive cruise control. It also adds a rear passenger reminder, driver attention monitor, and safe exit alerts.
• Infotainment: You get a 10.25-inch horizontal infotainment screen, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and touchscreen functionality only when using those phone integrations. A wireless charging pad requires at least the Premium trim.
• Fuel efficiency: The hybrid is estimated at 38 mpg combined, compared with 28 mpg for the standard engine.

Which 2025 Mazda CX-50 trim should I buy?

The 2025 Mazda CX-50 is offered in 2 trim levels: Preferred and Premium Plus.

Here's the short version:

• Preferred: This is the entry point, and it gives you the hybrid powertrain, AWD, and the core safety and infotainment features. It makes the most sense if you want the CX-50 Hybrid’s efficiency and driving character without stretching for extras.
• Premium Plus: This is the better pick if you want the most upscale version of the hybrid, especially since it builds on the base setup with more premium equipment and a richer feature set. It suits you best if you care about comfort and convenience as much as efficiency.

All CX-50 models include the same standard driver-assistance suite, so you do not need to move up a trim for the core safety tech.

Should I buy a 2025 Mazda CX-50 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2025 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2025 if:

• 40.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is excellent at 93.1% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.22% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The new hybrid powertrain adds fuel efficiency to an already sporty SUV.

Consider the 2024 if:

• At $27,812, the 2024 costs less than the current year's $29,072 average.
• It emphasizes ruggedness and everyday usability.

Consider the 2026 if:

• It keeps the CX-50’s familiar formula with gas, turbo, and hybrid powertrains.
• It remains focused on style, sophistication, and spirited handling.

The bottom line: You should lean toward the 2025 if you want the hybrid powertrain, strong owner satisfaction, and a market that currently favors shoppers. If your priority is saving money upfront, the 2024 is the better value play, while the 2026 makes sense if you want the next model year’s broader powertrain lineup and can live with a similar overall formula.
