How much does the 2025 Mazda CX-5 cost?

Prices have softened 8.36% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 7,496 listings available, which suggests you should have a healthy number of options to compare.

Is the 2025 Mazda CX-5 a good car?

Yes — the 2025 Mazda CX-5 earns a 5/5 user rating and a 6.5/10 expert rating. The model scores 8/10 across Look and feel and Performance.

It stands out as an attractive, upscale compact SUV that still prioritizes driving enjoyment. The cabin uses nicer-than-average materials and a traditional control layout that favors usability, while the chassis and AWD setup help it feel confident and sporty on winding roads.

The trade-offs are clear: rear-seat space is tighter than in some rivals, cargo room is limited, and fuel economy trails the class. Even so, the CX-5 makes sense if you want a practical SUV with a more engaging personality than most competitors.

With 43.6% of listings marked as good or great deals, the market gives you some room to shop carefully.

Is the 2025 Mazda CX-5 reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The CX-5’s reliability case is helped by its straightforward powertrain, standard all-wheel drive, and a driving experience that feels well sorted rather than overly complicated. The expert evaluation also notes that the systems operated as expected during testing, with no false alarms or technical glitches.

Its performance setup is conventional, which can be a plus for long-term ownership because there is less complexity than you might find in more heavily electrified rivals. For used buyers, the main ownership risk is more about everyday practicality and fuel costs than about mechanical sophistication.

What should I look for when buying a used 2025 Mazda CX-5?

Accident-free inventory is excellent at 91.5% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.

You should still run a vehicle history report and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if you’re considering a higher-mileage example or a turbo model. Focus on cabin condition, tire wear, brake feel, and whether the vehicle’s features operate cleanly and consistently.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base trim emphasizes value and usability, while higher trims add more upscale touches and convenience features. The base setup is simpler, so check whether you want the extra comfort and tech before you buy.
• Powertrain: You can choose between a 2.5-liter four-cylinder with 187 horsepower and 186 pound-feet of torque, or a Turbo model with 256 hp and 320 lb-ft of torque. The base engine is adequate for most drivers, while the Turbo feels stronger and more confident.
• Safety package: All trim levels include forward-collision warning with automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, lane-departure warning, lane-keep assist, and adaptive cruise control. Higher trims add more advanced equipment, including adaptive headlights, a surround-view camera system, parking sensors, traffic jam assist, driver attention monitoring, and rear automatic braking.
• Infotainment: Every model gets a 10.25-inch display, and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are included. Wireless phone integration is available in the midrange Premium Plus trim, which also adds a wireless charging pad.
• Fuel efficiency: The base engine is estimated at 26 mpg city, 30 mpg highway, and 28 mpg combined. The Turbo engine is rated at 22 mpg city, 27 mpg highway, and 24 mpg combined.

Which 2025 Mazda CX-5 trim should I buy?

The 2025 Mazda CX-5 is offered in 6 trim levels: S, S Select, Carbon Turbo, Premium Plus, Turbo Premium, Turbo Signature.

Here's the short version:

• S: This is the entry point, and it gives you the core CX-5 experience at the lowest price. It’s the trim to consider if you want the cleanest path into the model and don’t need extra comfort or convenience features.
• S Select: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds keyless entry, dual-zone climate control, heated front seats, and synthetic leather seat upholstery. If you want the most useful upgrades without moving too far up the price ladder, this is the one to target.
• Carbon Turbo: This is the first Turbo model and the one to choose if you want the stronger engine and a more luxurious feel. It’s the right fit if performance matters and you’re willing to pay more for it.
• Premium Plus: This trim adds wireless phone integration, a wireless charging pad, a head-up display, adaptive headlights, a surround-view camera system, and front and rear parking sensors. It’s a strong choice if you want a more complete tech and convenience package.
• Turbo Premium: This trim adds traffic jam assist, which combines lane-keep assist and adaptive cruise control to reduce driving effort in traffic. It suits you if you want more advanced driver assistance along with Turbo power.
• Turbo Signature: This is the top trim, and it adds a driver attention monitor, rear automatic braking, genuine leather upholstery, upgraded trim elements, and a premium Bose audio system. Choose it if you want the most upscale CX-5 experience.

All CX-5 trim levels come standard with basic advanced safety features, while the higher trims add more driver-assistance and convenience equipment.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2025 Mazda CX-5?

The market looks favorable for shoppers right now, with solid deal availability and a meaningful price drop versus last year.

• Deal availability: 43.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 7,496 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.36% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 91.5% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $27,754, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2025 Mazda CX-5's resale value?

The current average of $27,754 sits slightly below last year's $30,287.

That decline suggests the market has become a bit more buyer-friendly, which can help you negotiate now but may also temper near-term resale expectations. If you buy at the right price, you reduce the risk of taking an immediate depreciation hit.

The CX-5’s strong appeal as a stylish, enjoyable-to-drive compact SUV should help it stay desirable with used shoppers. Well-kept examples with the right trim and condition should remain easier to move than less distinctive rivals.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2025 Mazda CX-5 safe?

The 2025 Mazda CX-5 earns five-star ratings in all NHTSA evaluations except rollover protection, where it receives four stars.

It earns a 6/10 safety score from our experts.

All trim levels come standard with forward-collision warning with automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, lane-departure warning, lane-keep assist, and adaptive cruise control. Higher trims add adaptive headlights, a surround-view camera system, front and rear parking sensors, traffic jam assist, a driver attention monitor, and rear automatic braking.

IIHS results for this model year are not yet available, though the prior model year earned top marks in testing.

Should I buy a 2025 Mazda CX-5 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2025 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2025 if:

• 43.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is excellent at 91.5% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.36% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It balances sporty driving character with upscale materials and standard all-wheel drive.

Consider the 2024 if:

• At $26,893, the 2024 costs less than the current year's $27,754 average.
• It offers a refined, enjoyable-to-drive compact crossover with strong safety and quality.

Consider the 2026 if:

• It brings a full redesign with more space, more technology, and standard Google built-in.

The bottom line: If you want the best mix of current pricing, strong satisfaction, and the familiar CX-5 formula, the 2025 is the smart pick. If your priority is saving money, the 2024 is the better value play. If you want the newest design and more space, it makes sense to look ahead to the 2026.
