Is the 2025 Lexus IS a good car?

The 2025 Lexus IS stands out as a compact luxury sports sedan with a long-running reputation for being fun to drive. It sits at the entry point of the Lexus lineup, which helps explain its comparatively low price point and smaller footprint, and it has long appealed to buyers who want something sporty without moving up to a larger sedan.

For 2025, the IS remains attractive because it still offers the inline-four turbo that was available from 2015 to 2025, and it is also one of the model years in which a V8 was available. The model’s appeal is strengthened by its reputation for reliability and by the fact that it is aimed at young professionals or drivers who rarely carry passengers. At the same time, it is not the best choice for families, because the back seat is really tight.

With 39.2% of listings priced as good or great deals, you have a meaningful chance to find a competitive offer.

Is the 2025 Lexus IS reliable?

The 2025 Lexus IS stands out as a compact luxury sports sedan with a long-running reputation for being fun to drive. It also has a reputation for reliability, which is part of why it continues to appeal to buyers who want a sporty luxury sedan without stepping up to a larger, more complex vehicle.

That reliability reputation matters most if you plan to keep the car for the long haul, because a used performance-oriented sedan can become expensive if prior maintenance was inconsistent.

What should I look for when buying a used 2025 Lexus IS?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 88.3% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still check the report carefully for prior damage, title issues, and gaps in ownership history. A pre-purchase inspection should focus on overall condition, signs of hard use, and whether the car has been maintained consistently. Because this model is aimed at drivers who value sportiness, it is especially worth paying attention to wear items and any evidence that the car was driven aggressively.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2025 Lexus IS?

This is a moderate market, so you can shop selectively without expecting every listing to be a bargain.

• Deal availability: 39.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 999 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 3.01% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 88.3% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $45,066, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2025 Lexus IS's resale value?

The current average of $45,066 sits slightly below last year's $46,464.

That suggests the market has eased a bit, which can help you buy with less pressure today. For a future seller, the softer trend means resale value may not be as strong as it was a year ago, so condition and maintenance history will matter even more when it is time to trade or sell. If you keep the car clean, well-documented, and accident-free, you give yourself the best chance to protect value.

Should I buy a 2025 Lexus IS or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2025 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2025 if:

• 39.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 88.3% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 3.01% compared with last year.

Consider the 2026 if:

• It adds updated digital tech and refreshed steering and suspension.

The bottom line: The 2025 makes sense if you want a sporty compact luxury sedan at a softer used-market price and you value a broad pool of listings. If you are more focused on the newest tech and a refreshed driving feel, the 2026 is the better path; if you are price-sensitive, the 2025 is the smarter buy.
