Is the 2025 Kia Telluride a good car?

Generally — the 2025 Kia Telluride earns 4/5 from users and 8.2/10 from experts. The standout strength is Form and function at 10/10.

It is a three-row SUV that the expert review describes as stylish, comfortable, and capable, with family use and long-distance travel as clear strengths. The test-drive notes also point to a polished ride and strong safety performance, while the main trade-offs are outdated technology and an irritating lane-assist system.

The 2025 Telluride’s market position looks healthy, with 39.0% of listings marked as good or great deals.

Is the 2025 Kia Telluride reliable?

Owners rate it 4/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.

The expert review describes the Telluride as a proven model that debuted in 2020, has been updated over time, and still feels well suited to family travel. It also highlights Kia’s long warranty coverage and roadside assistance, which support ownership confidence.

The powertrain is described as smooth, refined, and amply powered, and the road test notes that it handled a long family trip with ease. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that age-related tech frustrations and driver-assist quirks may be more noticeable as the vehicle accumulates miles.

What should I look for when buying a used 2025 Kia Telluride?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 89.6% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still check the vehicle history report carefully and prioritize a thorough inspection, especially if you are shopping outside the cleanest listings. Focus on overall condition, because the Telluride’s age-related frustrations are more likely to show up in electronics, driver-assist behavior, and brake feel than in basic family-hauling ability.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The lineup includes LX, S, EX, SX, and SX Prestige. The base LX and S miss the X-Line package, which adds standard all-wheel drive, a locking center differential, increased ground clearance, improved approach and departure angles, and self-leveling rear suspension. Higher X-Line and X-Pro versions add more capability and equipment, while the top test vehicle had the most comprehensive standard equipment.
• Powertrain: Every Telluride uses a 3.8-liter V6 with 291 horsepower and 262 pound-feet of torque paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission. Front-wheel drive is standard on LX, S, EX, and SX, while AWD is standard on other versions and available on some trims. The V6 is described as smooth, refined, and well suited to road trips.
• Safety package: Drive Wise is the named driver-assistance suite. Standard features include forward collision warning, pedestrian and cyclist detection, intersection assistance, automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, lane-centering assist, rear cross-traffic alert, rear automatic braking, adaptive cruise control, safe exit assist, and Highway Driving Assist. Higher trims add lane-change assist, and the loaded test model also had Blind Spot View Monitor, evasive steering assist, front cross-traffic alert with automatic braking, oncoming collision avoidance, lane-change collision avoidance, and a surround-view camera.
• Infotainment: SX and SX Prestige trims, along with their X-Line and X-Pro counterparts, get a 12.3-inch digital driver display and a 12.3-inch touchscreen under one piece of glass. SX Prestige also adds a 10-inch head-up display. The system does not have wireless Apple CarPlay or wireless Android Auto.
• Fuel efficiency: The Telluride returned 20.2 mpg over nearly 1,200 miles of driving, and that aligns with its 20 mpg combined rating.

Which 2025 Kia Telluride trim should I buy?

The 2025 Kia Telluride is offered in 5 trim levels: LX, S, EX, SX, and SX Prestige.

Here's the short version:

• LX: This is the entry point, and it gives you the Telluride’s core family-SUV strengths at the lowest price. It makes the most sense if you want the design, space, and safety coverage without paying for the more advanced screens and luxury touches.
• S: This trim adds a step up in equipment while staying below the more expensive versions. It is a sensible middle-ground choice if you want more content than the LX without moving too far up the price ladder.
• EX: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it sits in the middle of the lineup and can be paired with the X-Line or X-Pro packages. It gives you a strong balance of comfort, capability, and available upgrades.
• SX: This trim brings the larger digital display setup and a more advanced tech experience. It suits you if you want a more upscale cabin and are willing to pay for it.
• SX Prestige: This is the most luxurious mainstream choice in the lineup, with the richest feature set and the most premium presentation. It is the right pick if you want the Telluride at its most fully equipped.

Higher trims also bring additional safety and driver-assistance features, including lane-change assist on upper versions.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2025 Kia Telluride?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop with some leverage if you are patient.

• Deal availability: 39.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 4,566 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 11.77% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 89.6% of listings are accident-free.

What is the 2025 Kia Telluride's resale value?

The current average of $36,003 sits slightly below last year's $40,807.

That decline suggests the market has become more favorable for buyers, but it also means future sellers may need to price competitively. If you buy well now, you may have less downside risk than someone who paid closer to last year’s higher average.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2025 Kia Telluride safe?

The 2025 Kia Telluride earns five-star ratings from NHTSA and a Top Safety Pick+ rating from IIHS.

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

Drive Wise is the Telluride’s driver-assistance suite, and it includes forward collision warning, pedestrian and cyclist detection, intersection assistance, automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, lane-centering assist, rear cross-traffic alert, rear automatic braking, adaptive cruise control, safe exit assist, and Highway Driving Assist. Higher trims add lane-change assist, and the loaded test vehicle also had Blind Spot View Monitor, evasive steering assist, front cross-traffic alert with automatic braking, oncoming collision avoidance, lane-change collision avoidance, and a surround-view camera.

The main caveat is that the lane-centering system can be irritating on curving roads, where it may feel argumentative and overly eager to hug lane markers.

Should I buy a 2025 Kia Telluride or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2025 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2025 if:

• 39.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 89.6% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 11.77% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
• The 2025 stands out for its long-road-trip comfort and strong safety ratings.

Consider the 2024 if:

• At $35,045, the 2024 costs less than the current year's $36,003 average.
• It feels especially well suited to family life.

The bottom line: If you want the newer-year market data and a strong mix of comfort, safety, and capability, the 2025 is the better default choice. If your priority is saving money and you want a very similar family SUV experience, the 2024 is the smarter price-sensitive path.
