How much does the 2025 Kia Sorento cost?

Prices have softened 7.33% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 2,343 listings available, which suggests you should have a workable selection to compare.

Is the 2025 Kia Sorento a good car?

Yes — the 2025 Kia Sorento earns a 5/5 user rating and an 8.33/10 expert rating. The model scores 9/10 across Performance and Cost effectiveness.

It is positioned as a “right-sized” SUV: larger than a typical compact but smaller than many three-row midsize SUVs, so it fits you well if you want occasional third-row use rather than a full-time people mover. The turbo-gas version also carries over without significant changes after a substantial refresh for 2024, with a new gray paint color and some models getting standard black exterior badges in 2025.

The trade-offs are clear: the interior materials feel cheap, the third row is cramped, and cargo space is limited. Even so, the combination of a powerful engine, impressive technology, and Kia’s great warranty makes it appealing if you want versatility without moving up to a larger SUV.

39.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2025 Kia Sorento reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The Sorento’s appeal is reinforced by Kia’s great warranty and its strong day-to-day usability. The turbo-gas version is described as rewarding in normal driving, and the SUV’s size and visibility make it easy to live with in cities, on highways, and in the suburbs. The performance notes also point to a satisfying turbo engine and a well-sorted driving experience for this class.

If you buy used, your main long-term risk is less about outright mechanical weakness and more about choosing a well-kept example with the features and condition you want.

What should I look for when buying a used 2025 Kia Sorento?

Accident-free inventory is excellent at 94.5% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.

You should still run a history report and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if you are considering a higher-mileage example or a trim with more equipment. Focus on cabin condition, because the interior materials are described as a mixed bag, and make sure the third row and cargo area meet your needs before you commit.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The core gas trims include LX, S, EX, SX, and SX Prestige. The LX is the most basic version, while the higher trims add more upscale equipment and, in some cases, a more premium feel. The SX Prestige and X-Pro SX Prestige are the most feature-rich choices, but the X-Pro is more about rugged styling and added equipment than major capability gains.
• Powertrain: LX and S use a 191-horsepower 2.5-liter four-cylinder with an eight-speed automatic, which is adequate and can return up to 26 mpg in combined driving. All other gas Sorentos use a turbocharged 2.5-liter four-cylinder with 281 horsepower and 311 pound-feet of torque, paired with an eight-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.
• Safety package: Highway Driving Assist is standard on all 2025 Sorento models except the LX. SX and SX Prestige add numerous active collision avoidance features, evasive steering assist, a camera-based Blind-Spot View Monitor, and the surround-view camera system. SX and SX Prestige also add Highway Driving Assist 2 with lane-changing functionality.
• Infotainment: The Sorento uses a 24-inch panoramic display setup, and SX and SX Prestige pair a 12.3-inch digital instrument panel with a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system. Every 2025 Sorento has wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and Kia Connect is complimentary for three years.
• Fuel efficiency: The LX and S can return up to 26 mpg in combined driving, while the turbocharged versions are rated at 23 mpg in combined driving. During evaluation, the X-Pro SX Prestige averaged 23.4 mpg.

Which 2025 Kia Sorento trim should I buy?

The 2025 Kia Sorento is offered in 5 trim levels: LX, S, EX, SX, and SX Prestige.

Here's the short version:

• LX: This is the entry point if you want the Sorento’s size and basic utility at the lowest cost. It uses the 191-horsepower engine, but it misses out on Highway Driving Assist, so it makes the most sense if price matters more than advanced driver assistance.
• S: This trim keeps the lower-cost powertrain but adds a bit more equipment than LX. It is the better pick if you want to stay budget-conscious while avoiding the most stripped-down version.
• EX: This is the first trim that moves you into the turbocharged engine, which is the more satisfying powertrain. It is the best-value choice for many shoppers because it gives you the stronger engine without jumping all the way to the upper trims.
• SX: This trim adds more upscale tech and safety equipment, including the larger digital display setup and more advanced driver-assistance features. It suits you if you want a more premium experience and are willing to pay for it.
• SX Prestige: This is the most luxurious gas trim, with the richest feature set and the most advanced safety and convenience equipment. Choose it if you want the most complete Sorento experience and do not mind paying near the top of the range.

The SX and SX Prestige trims add numerous active collision avoidance features, evasive steering assist, a camera-based Blind-Spot View Monitor, and the surround-view camera system.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2025 Kia Sorento?

This is a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop with some leverage if you are patient.

• Deal availability: 39.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 2,343 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.33% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 94.5% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $31,792, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2025 Kia Sorento's resale value?

The current average of $31,793 sits slightly below last year's $34,309.

That price movement suggests the Sorento has softened enough to help you buy more carefully now, but it also means future sellers may face a more competitive market if values continue to drift down. If you buy at the right price and keep the vehicle in strong condition, you should be better positioned to limit depreciation pain later. The current spread between the year-ago average and today’s price also gives you a useful benchmark when you eventually decide to sell.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2025 Kia Sorento safe?

The 2025 Kia Sorento earns five-star overall ratings from NHTSA and four-star ratings in frontal crash and rollover, and five-star ratings in all other NHTSA tests. It also earns a Top Safety Pick rating from IIHS, though that accolade is described as valid only for the 2024 calendar year.

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

Kia installs plenty of standard safety features in the 2025 Sorento, and higher trims add more sophisticated technology. Highway Driving Assist is standard on all models except the LX, and SX and SX Prestige add numerous active collision avoidance features, evasive steering assist, a camera-based Blind-Spot View Monitor, the surround-view camera system, and Highway Driving Assist 2 with lane-changing functionality.

A key caveat is that the Sorento may lose its IIHS Top Safety Pick rating in 2025, so safety-minded shoppers should pay close attention to the latest crash-test status before buying.

Should I buy a 2025 Kia Sorento or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2025 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2025 if:

• 39.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is excellent at 94.5% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.33% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It carries over without significant changes after the 2024 refresh, while adding a new gray paint color and standard black badges on some models.

Consider the 2024 if:

• At $29,149, the 2024 costs less than the current year's $31,793 average.
• It brings a fresh look, updated tech, and a new X-Pro trim.

The bottom line: If you want the current-year market with softened pricing, strong owner satisfaction, and the latest small updates, the 2025 is the better target. If your priority is spending less up front, the 2024 remains the value play because it delivers much of the same core package for less money.
