What should I look for when buying a used 2025 Hyundai Kona?

Accident-free inventory is excellent at 91.2% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.

You should still run a vehicle history report and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if you’re comparing higher-mileage examples or trims with more equipment. Focus on condition, feature operation, and whether the trim level matches the equipment you actually want, since the Kona’s value changes meaningfully as you move up the range.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The SE, SEL, SEL Convenience, N Line S, N Line, and Limited trims differ in appearance, wheel size, and equipment. Base trims are simpler inside, while SEL Convenience adds a more upscale digital display setup and more convenience tech. N Line and Limited bring the sportier or more premium look, and Limited adds the most convenience features.
• Powertrain: The SE, SEL, and SEL Convenience use a 2.0-liter four-cylinder with 147 horsepower and 132 lb-ft of torque, paired with an IVT. N Line S, N Line, and Limited use a turbocharged 1.6-liter four-cylinder with 190 horsepower and 195 lb-ft of torque, paired with an eight-speed automatic. AWD is available across the lineup.
• Safety package: Standard equipment includes Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist with pedestrian and cyclist detection, Lane Keeping Assist, Lane Following Assist, Blind-Spot Collision Warning, and Safe Exit Warning. SEL Convenience and above add Highway Driving Assist and enhanced Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist with junction turning and door opening detection. Limited adds parking-focused features.
• Infotainment: Every trim gets a 12.3-inch central touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and wireless Android Auto. SEL Convenience and above add wireless charging and Hyundai’s digital key, while built-in navigation appears on SEL Convenience, N Line, and Limited.
• Fuel efficiency: The FWD 2.0-liter base engine returns 31 mpg combined, while AWD drops that by around 3 mpg. The turbocharged engine is rated at 28 mpg combined in FWD form and 26 mpg combined with AWD.

Which 2025 Hyundai Kona trim should I buy?

The 2025 Hyundai Kona is offered in 6 trim levels: SE, SEL, SEL Convenience, N Line S, N Line, and Limited.

Here's the short version:

• SE: This is the entry point, and it gives you the core Kona experience at the lowest price. You get the standard safety suite, the 12.3-inch touchscreen, wireless smartphone integration, and the practical cabin layout, but it is the most basic choice for shoppers who want the essentials.
• SEL: This is the value-minded step up if you want a little more equipment without jumping too far in price. It keeps the same base powertrain but adds a more polished feel than SE, making it a sensible middle ground for everyday use.
• SEL Convenience: This is the best-value trim. It adds heated front seats, the larger digital instrument display, Highway Driving Assist, built-in navigation, a wireless phone charger, digital key, and a WiFi hotspot, making it the sweet spot for most shoppers.
• N Line S: This trim brings the turbocharged engine and a sportier appearance treatment, so it suits you if you want more punch and a more distinctive look without going all the way to the top.
• N Line: This is the stronger choice if you want the turbo engine plus the upgraded audio system and more premium-feeling equipment. It’s the better pick for buyers who care about both performance and cabin tech.
• Limited: This is the most fully equipped Kona, with the turbo engine, premium audio, navigation, ambient lighting, a sunroof, and the parking-assist features. Choose it if you want the most comfort and convenience features in the lineup.

Safety content also notes that SEL Convenience and above add Highway Driving Assist and enhanced Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist, while Limited adds parking assistance features.

Consider the 2024 if:

• At $21,428, the 2024 costs less than the current year's $21,615 average.
• It brings a fresh redesign with new tech and a broad range of choices.

Consider the 2026 if:
